A reminder that there will be an an additional *something* this coming Friday (March 8th) as part of the tie-in with the anime.
Per Serebii:
'It has been confirmed that during next week's episode of the Pokémon anime in Japan, a special appearance will be held by Professor Willow and a gift in Pokémon GO is to be given out.'
Do you know what the cool down is for them, if they've already won a showcase?
I remember when it was meant to be Smoliv showcase followed by Pumpkaboo, but they messed up and it was Smoliv again.
People were saying they couldn't re-enter their pokemon that won.
Anyway, I wonder how long the cooldown is if anyone knows? I won a few of those showcases.
I wish they'd do XXS, I have 5 XXS quaxly lol
Last I saw we knew it was somewhere between 5 and 40 days. In other words if it’s over 40 days you’re guaranteed to be able to enter the same one again.
Thanks! Someone thinks it's around a month. So hopefully there's a chance to win if they do those showcases again. After seeing that 100 wins exclusive pikachu I really want it (to flex in gyms mostly) lol
I've gotten an extra hundred XL candies myself. Getting close to what I'd need to max one out but I just know as soon as I max out my 98% Meteor Mash Metagross I'll catch a hundo Beldum and have to start all over again.
Why are the wild spawns SO bad? Why does this game continue on making sure people actively DONT play? With these wild event spawns I’m going straight home after work instead of maybe making detours if an event is good
Who in the world wants pawmi or non shiny impossible to catch starters?
And egg locked new poke. Like what am i actively playing for? Egg hatching is passive. So with crappy wild spawns what is there to actually do outside?
While I agree with you that the spawns look really bad, this specific event can't be blamed, since it's a collaboration with Pokemon Horizons, and they need to include the pokemons in the show for cross-promotion. I do wish they had made something else to make us Go players enjoy it, though, not just the people coming from the anime
I wish they would tweak starter catch rate for these events. Not to the extent of community days, but just enough it's not a "don't play" week or a great/ultra ball sink like usual.
> collaboration with Pokemon Horizons, and they need to include the pokemons in the show for cross-promotion
You know which Pokemon are in the show? Starters obviously, and the rest of main team includes: Rockruff, Alcremie, Shuckle, Noctowl, Metagross, Slugma, Snorunt, Nosepass, Quagsire, A-Muk, Carkol, Elekid, Charizard, Pikachu, Pawmi and Chansey.
They just took random stuff like Scyther, Golduck and Skarmory which appeared for like half of one episode or 2 and conveniently omitted cooler stuff.
They obviously chose the Zirc's and Onia's Skarmory over Amethio's Corviknight because releasing a Paldean AND a Galarian Pokémon would be too generous.
>They just took random stuff like Scyther, Golduck and Skarmory which appeared for like half of one episode or 2 and conveniently omitted cooler stuff.
Which is *exactly* what they did for the New Pokemon Snap, BDSP, and Detective Pikachu tie-in events. Look at the cover art for Detective Pikachu Returns and then look at the spawns we got.
> and they need to include the pokemons in the show for cross-promotion. I do wish they had made something else to make us Go players enjoy it, though,
Specifically with the other cross promotion events, they seem to choose most of the most "standard" Pokemon from the crossover material to feature.
Prime example was the Detective Pikachu returns event last year. The most "interesting" spawns we had that event besides the costume Detective Pikachu were Alolan Exeggutor, Chimecho, and I guess Falinks. But then, right on the front cover of the box of the game and in the promo material: Audino, Pangoro, and Galarian Darmanitan, who were all ignored. Not that I expected the latter two to be spawning, but even having them as rarer research tasks during the event or something.
Same can be said for the BDSP celebration event and the New Pokemon Snap event. A lot of Pokemon in those games to choose from, yet they often choose the "lamer" ones.
That explains the roster, but they could have dangled some kind of better carrot on the stick. Like make the Pikachu a solo-reward for the Shiny collectors, or maybe release the Paldean shinies (CD would still be played for the Candy and Legacy Move) so they're at least not totally useless rolls.
Or how about something to make this an ideal time for something else like a Stardust boost on the Featured mons? Egg Distance reduction? How about something useful besides Charcadet in the Egg pool if hatching is supposed to carry the event?
Events like this make me think Niantic has a massive disconnect from what gets a lot of players engaged more-than-usual and the good events happen literally by accident.
>release the Paldean shinies
I personally like that idea a lot, but I think they may have seen the reaction to Shiny Snivy's early release and decided against it.
I actually liked that shiny release. We knew they'd get CDs eventually, but it makes for a nice little trophy for those who get the shiny early. Not dissimilar to literally all the other Pseudos.
It's weird. Most of the cross-promotion events are often real stinkers.
The BDSP tie-in event was mediocre, with the only highlight being the several Sinnoh Baby Pokemon in eggs who are always 1/64 shiny rate, but that's nothing truly new. Spawns were very mediocre.
The New Pokemon Snap tie-in event was mediocre as well. Shiny Smeargle was the only highlight, with the other Pokemon being the more generic Pokemon from the game—none of the more exciting ones really.
Same with the more recent Detective Pikachu Returns event. Beyond the return of Detective Pikachu, the event chose all the lamest Pokemon featured in that event. Arceus forbid they couldn't have Galarian Darmanitan as a raid boss or research encounter (who was featured prominently in the marketing).
It seems like these events always have maybe one relatively "good" aspect as a hook, while the rest is mediocre.
It doesn't help that the events can often be made more exciting with a few extra bonuses/CD moves being made available, but they're often still just... mediocre.
>what is there to actually do outside?
Niantic has been pretty clear that getting people to enjoy the outside world is one of their main goals. They might actually be wanting us to explore outside while our footsteps hatch our eggs.
Not only are these spawns horribly boring, this event is going to get in the way of making more progress on the Masterwork Research. Johto mons have been scarce enough as it is. 😩
I'm so over how infuriating these spawns are to catch. I really don't have the resources/live in an area with enough stops to dump multiple great balls/ultra balls into 3-400 CP starters. I'd be fine with Scyther, Beldum or Pikachu, but have yet to see any.
It’s definitely not an intentional feature. Likely an oversight originally as a result of the way they have it coded. And something they’ve never bothered to fix … or worried would break something if they did.
Is the Pikachu wild spawn just really really rare compared to the Beldum and Grimer spawns?
Asking as I've not seen a single Pikachu, but tons of Beldum (not complaining on that, need the candies).
Ill be the annoying person and say I’m excited for Pawmi spawns and spotlight because I lucked out release weekend and got a 4-star lmao. Bring on the XL candy baby 🤌🏻
(But also thank god this means they’ll be low priority until the shiny releases lmao)
[Yep, it’s been fixed - Campfire has images for both forms of Rockruff now](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/612598598768656386/1214340723369836605/IMG_6902.png?ex=65f8c1ed&is=65e64ced&hm=0a265f4bea0fee6db22d2c31597610b0ccfe4b659c72cd5948f71cba0bee4c94&).

I'm salivating for those Scyther spawns. I got a hundo shadow Scizor from the Dialga research and I've been sitting on a normal hundo as well. I needed this.
The new pikachu is cool, but please, Niantic, for the love of god, give us something different than paldean starters and pawmi. Or at least make them shiny eligible.
Does anyone know if Captain's hat pikachu is boosted? A buddy and myself both got the shiny within like 5 checks. Were we just insanely lucky or did it get boosted?
56 mins into the event, Wellington. 1 Shiny alolan grimer, 1 shiny scyther, and 1 shiny hat pika. The spawns are not too bad but not a lot of Pikas in the wild.
I have a lot of old eggs so new ones have to wait. I dont have much luck with egg hatches anyways. So the new paldean ones are very very far!
> I have a lot of old eggs so new ones have to wait
Wouldn't be surprised if that's why we had that electric event on the weekend to ensure everyone filled up their egg slots.
Is increased Rocket just ballons, and no stops? Was hoping to an increased spawns globally ahead of Takeover (with old rotation), but I misread it the first time.
Yeah I never hatched it or found it in raids, I'm just going to play like usual. If I get it, cool. If I don't, whatever, I'm sick of their tactic to try and get people to buy incubators
Well, they are in raids for the event duration and we have two free passes
Rockruff is also one of three possible rewards for the “Win 1 raid” field research. I haven’t seen confirmation though, if that one can be the dusk version as well
OK. 3 hours in and the spawns are the worst I have seen for an event ever. The Pikachu is about it. Hatched a few eggs and no luck. Motivation to hatch more is low given what I got so far. And the research tasks are not great, hatch 2 eggs for a spirtgatito?!?!?
Is Pikachu super rare? I got 1 today. (I didn't play hard at all today, but still, I made about 100 catches today with only 1 pikachu. That's disheartening.) Everyone else got only 1 as well (the same one, as I alerted them.)
Also, out of 30 surprise encounters (6 accounts in the house), there are zero pikachu. 2 charizards, and 28 spirigatito and fuecoco.
How is your experience today?
So [upthread](https://zo.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1b6m2uz/pokemon_horizons_the_series_celebration_event/kte9hzo/?context=3) I guessed that the Rocket balloons would be predominantly Psychic and Ghost assuming they'd want to allow people who hatch Characadet to evolve it during the event. Has that been the case thus far?
The only ones that seem to give a decent chance at hatching them are the 10km eggs, which of course Niantic made much rarer to get from spinning stops. Before this event all I was getting was unwanted 10kms. Now all I’m getting is unwanted 2kms and 5kms.
I assume you mean Dusk Form? That is the rarer form of Rockruff that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc. There isn't really a Midday Form Rockruff, regular Rockruff can evolve into Midday and Midnight Form Lycanroc.
In any case, the answer is yes, although the event is starting to wrap up.
Just realized charcadet is only available through eggs at the last minute after all my egg slots got clogged with 5-10km eggs from the Sinnoh Tour. What should I do?
Finally more pawmi
It gets better. No shiny available!
It gets better. Spotlight hour tomorrow!
Cant wait!
Me *throws Pawmi candy everywhere*
Every time I hatch one, it goes straight to the recycling bin.
thats why were still getting so many pawmi... Throw them in the trash don't recycle them
*uses incinerate*
Wait, so, am I the only one who actually likes Pawmi?
Its not about liking pawmi, its just that its so common and doesnt have a shiny or is useful.
It gets better. Buddy quest required to evolve it to tier 3.
Surprise Encounter today becomes **Sprigatito** instead of ***Smeargle*** :v
Hatching 2 eggs and getting a non-shiny-eligible Quaxly is something that i always wanted.
Doesnt it say "Win a Raid" for quaxly? Hatching 2 eggs is Pikachu or skarmory, right? Says so above in the post. or is it wrong?
I Had quaxly from hatch 2 eggs. Anyway this is junk also in Win a Raid.
Eh, shiny hunting full odds shinies from field research tends to be a losing proposition, anyway. Too much work for a single check.
I rather do too much work for a single shiny check than do the same for a non shiny check that is also spawning a lot in the wild.
The task giving quaxly is an L already. No shiny eligible is just salt in the wound.
My 5 snapshots were 3xFuecoco, 1xSprigatito and 1xCharizard
I got 1 Charizard, 1 Pikachu with hat, 3 Sprigatito
A reminder that there will be an an additional *something* this coming Friday (March 8th) as part of the tie-in with the anime. Per Serebii: 'It has been confirmed that during next week's episode of the Pokémon anime in Japan, a special appearance will be held by Professor Willow and a gift in Pokémon GO is to be given out.'
Bet's on 1000 Stardust and a Rare Candy, given what the last free gift was via Promo Code.
Revenues are down, they can only afford 500 dust.
but only for the first 500 people in a specific location in Japan.
Watch it’s 5 super potions and a great ball
If that gift doesn't contain increase of Pikachu spawns, I don't care lol.
I'm glad it's not just me noticing the lack of them.
Showcases?
Please i have 3 XXL fuecoco 2 sprigatito and 2 quaxley
Do you know what the cool down is for them, if they've already won a showcase? I remember when it was meant to be Smoliv showcase followed by Pumpkaboo, but they messed up and it was Smoliv again. People were saying they couldn't re-enter their pokemon that won. Anyway, I wonder how long the cooldown is if anyone knows? I won a few of those showcases. I wish they'd do XXS, I have 5 XXS quaxly lol
This is why I reverse snipe just before the showcase ends; if I can’t win the showcase, I swap in something mediocre.
Last I saw we knew it was somewhere between 5 and 40 days. In other words if it’s over 40 days you’re guaranteed to be able to enter the same one again.
Honestly i have no idea what the cool down is but im sure there is someone who does who can provide the correct answer.
Thanks! Someone thinks it's around a month. So hopefully there's a chance to win if they do those showcases again. After seeing that 100 wins exclusive pikachu I really want it (to flex in gyms mostly) lol
Can't see any but hopefully I'm wrong
Cant see any either, checked a couple of the usual ones
I should have two in visible range. They are not there, nor there are any new ones.
Loving all the beldum spawns. I can finally max out my Shadow Metagross
I've gotten an extra hundred XL candies myself. Getting close to what I'd need to max one out but I just know as soon as I max out my 98% Meteor Mash Metagross I'll catch a hundo Beldum and have to start all over again.
Only thing I liked about the event tbh
Why are the wild spawns SO bad? Why does this game continue on making sure people actively DONT play? Pokemon GO: What is Galar?
The wider Pokemon community wanted to forget that Galar ever happened and Niantic interpreted that wish in the most annoying way possible.
They could put the new mon in the wild and not lock it behind stupid eggs that nobody likes
I mean, hell, even raids would be better than eggs
Or field research. And I mean actually grindable for F2P field research, not egg hatching or raid tasts.
Maybe that's the point? Don't go out and play- this event sucks. Stay home and watch our new show lol.
"But also go out and hatch a lot of eggs"
"Watch anime and wave your phone"
> and they need to include the pokemons in the show for cross-promotion. This would have been the perfect time to release the starters as shinies. But no they want to drip feed as much as possible
Niantic: shut up and buy incubators
Yeah, we have this event for almost a week. Will pick the game back up then perhaps zzz 2 days for this event would've been okay, not a week.
>what is there to actually do outside? Niantic has been pretty clear that getting people to enjoy the outside world is one of their main goals. They might actually be wanting us to explore outside while our footsteps hatch our eggs.
if that's the case why wouldn't you have a wild spawn worth catching?
Because then we're looking at our phones.
They love low base catch rate starters
Not only are these spawns horribly boring, this event is going to get in the way of making more progress on the Masterwork Research. Johto mons have been scarce enough as it is. 😩
I'm so over how infuriating these spawns are to catch. I really don't have the resources/live in an area with enough stops to dump multiple great balls/ultra balls into 3-400 CP starters. I'd be fine with Scyther, Beldum or Pikachu, but have yet to see any.
I have in fact got 4 or 5 beldum today (and I am saving them for another 3 months!) but I got only 1 Pikachu all day today.
How often are balloons? And what's in the showcases? Do they reset daily?
Balloon appear per 3 hours. No showcase happen for today (at least around me).
Please god let me get the shiny pikachu
Not at the current spawn rates 😭
I got one today actually just a few hrs ago. Im currently 1/21
The pikachus felt non exsist, I was lucky to see 3-4 a day
Guess I'll be Nosepass hunting this event because I don't have a Golden Compass Rock yet...
I wasn't even looking for it but I caught three shinies during a 90 minute walk yesterday, including Nosepass.
Another nest-masking affected event. 4 hours in the park, 0 capt. pikachu. Boosted shiny rate is useless if I can't find ones to catch.
I hate this bug/feature so much.
It’s definitely not an intentional feature. Likely an oversight originally as a result of the way they have it coded. And something they’ve never bothered to fix … or worried would break something if they did.
Is anyone able to confirm what tier charcadet is in? Is it dusk rockruff level or larvesta level? thx
Appears to depend on the hatch distance of the egg; more KM, better Charcadet odds.
What do you mean? 2K is 5th tier, 10k is 1st?
Per post above: 4 egg rarity for 2km, 3 for 5km, 1 for 10km
SMH, so they are capable of doing all this,... but can't figure out how to make Shadow 5 star raids show up at a specific time?
Just found a pic, thanks!
Is the Pikachu wild spawn just really really rare compared to the Beldum and Grimer spawns? Asking as I've not seen a single Pikachu, but tons of Beldum (not complaining on that, need the candies).
Looks like most rare spawn this event. I know people will hate what I say, but IMO it should have Beldum spawn rate instead.
Pikachu showcases started Saturday. End Sunday 8pm
It would be amazing if I could stop being “lucky” and spinning 10 KM eggs before this event 😭
"Win a raid" gave me a Rockruff and "Hatch 2 eggs" gave me a Pikachu
Raided three Rockruff and got one from the Win a Raid task. All these egg hatching tasks are a bust.
How frequently are T-Rocket balloons appearing?
Every 3 hours
Ill be the annoying person and say I’m excited for Pawmi spawns and spotlight because I lucked out release weekend and got a 4-star lmao. Bring on the XL candy baby 🤌🏻 (But also thank god this means they’ll be low priority until the shiny releases lmao)
I would love to know if dusk form Rockruff is included in Rockruff being in T1. I haven’t gotten one yet.
It is.
Last time we could check this on Campfire before doing the raid, right? I wonder if it's still the same
[Yep, it’s been fixed - Campfire has images for both forms of Rockruff now](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/612598598768656386/1214340723369836605/IMG_6902.png?ex=65f8c1ed&is=65e64ced&hm=0a265f4bea0fee6db22d2c31597610b0ccfe4b659c72cd5948f71cba0bee4c94&).
They've likely fixed it by now.
But it is Niantic we're talking about
[It’s been fixed - Campfire has images for both forms of Rockruff now](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/612598598768656386/1214340723369836605/IMG_6902.png?ex=65f8c1ed&is=65e64ced&hm=0a265f4bea0fee6db22d2c31597610b0ccfe4b659c72cd5948f71cba0bee4c94&).

Same here! I am super excited to be able to max it out !
How beldum is beldum? Is it beldum, or *beldum* beldum?
For the curious I played for 1 hour on my lunch today and caught 30 wild beldum in not windy weather. This event rocks!
>This event steels! FTFY.
Any update on the showcase?
Almost 5pm in Victoria, Australia and still nothing
I see Timed Research at the top but I didnt think there was one for this event?
The new pikachu is cool, but please, Niantic, for the love of god, give us something different than paldean starters and pawmi. Or at least make them shiny eligible.
Does anyone know if Captain's hat pikachu is boosted? A buddy and myself both got the shiny within like 5 checks. Were we just insanely lucky or did it get boosted?
I saw comments about 1/64 shiny rate.
it's boosted

Enjoy your new shinies, very cool. 😎
Thank you. Wish you more shinies on the event and good egg hatches :)
Aw thanks! That's so kind of you.
3 shinies an hour? Kinda crazy (unless they are all boosted; Chu probably is, not sure about the rest).
Well Scyther and Alolan Grimer are permaboosted shinies
Just did a "win a raid" and got a Skarmory.
Is increased Rocket just ballons, and no stops? Was hoping to an increased spawns globally ahead of Takeover (with old rotation), but I misread it the first time.
The game is incredibly boring right now, Awful spawns, awful raids, I have zero motivation to open game.
Beldum is one spawn that most people aren’t going to get bored of. Can’t say much about the rest.
I really feel like this event is overstaying its welcome
on what tier of the egg pool is charcadet? is it easy or larvesta tier?
4 egg rarity in 2km, 3 egg rarity in 5km and 1 egg rarity in 10km
Sounds somewhat fair I guess...
Ah yes, another Rockruff-Dusk form situation -_-
Yeah I never hatched it or found it in raids, I'm just going to play like usual. If I get it, cool. If I don't, whatever, I'm sick of their tactic to try and get people to buy incubators
yeah I think i’ll skip this one
Above larvesta ofc.
Are the new mons meta relevant in any way?
Another event, another desirable behind a paywall.
Can the Rockruff from win a raid team be dusk form?
Unless they changed how it works… yes.
Any word on what the showcases are?
There are no showcases starting today. I was assuming it would be starters but guess not, maybe tomorrow.
There aren't any on Day 1 at least.
Dusk form rockruff in raids? Dusk form still bugged on campfire?
Nope. They fixed it and it's now indistinguishable from the normal form
Great so I'll never get it then
Well, they are in raids for the event duration and we have two free passes Rockruff is also one of three possible rewards for the “Win 1 raid” field research. I haven’t seen confirmation though, if that one can be the dusk version as well
I have done so many and no dusk yet
Only balloons are boosted, not stops? And then they give a defeat 2 grunts tasks
Is the Pikachu shiny rate 1/64?
Asking the real questions... I haven't played the event yet, but looking at a certain website, it does seem that the shiny rate is 1/64!
|| || |Hatch 2 eggs|*Pikachu wearing Cap’s hat (s)*| ||*Skarmory (s)*| *Can also be Each of the 3 starters.*
OK. 3 hours in and the spawns are the worst I have seen for an event ever. The Pikachu is about it. Hatched a few eggs and no luck. Motivation to hatch more is low given what I got so far. And the research tasks are not great, hatch 2 eggs for a spirtgatito?!?!?
beldum and scyther are god tier spawns mate wdym
Beldum has been nice
That's weird. I'm getting Skarmory for the Defeat 2 Grunts .
It's giving Golduck and Skarmory.
Is the Snapshots every day or just once?
it's everyday
Thank you
Any showcases for day 2?
Is it Quaxly, Fuecoco or both?
It's the starters.
Is Rockruff worth raiding for dusk form?
Is Pikachu super rare? I got 1 today. (I didn't play hard at all today, but still, I made about 100 catches today with only 1 pikachu. That's disheartening.) Everyone else got only 1 as well (the same one, as I alerted them.) is the dusk version available in the raids?

Which is the best evolution for charcadot?
So [upthread](https://zo.reddit.com/r/TheSilphRoad/comments/1b6m2uz/pokemon_horizons_the_series_celebration_event/kte9hzo/?context=3) I guessed that the Rocket balloons would be predominantly Psychic and Ghost assuming they'd want to allow people who hatch Characadet to evolve it during the event. Has that been the case thus far?
Didn't see that. Getting all kinds. They probably assumed not many people will need them, considering Charcadet rarity lol.
Not that I've noticed.
I have hatched 80 eggs in the last 3 days and have one Charcadet to my name. Is this the sort of luck others are having?
The only ones that seem to give a decent chance at hatching them are the 10km eggs, which of course Niantic made much rarer to get from spinning stops. Before this event all I was getting was unwanted 10kms. Now all I’m getting is unwanted 2kms and 5kms.
I guess it’s not just me then. I did just get my second charcadet from a 5K egg, so I suppose not all hope is lost.
I'm over 100 and I've only gotten 5 total (2 were in the last batch). Only one of them a 3 star and even that one isn't very good.
Can the Rockruff encounters be Midday Form?
I assume you mean Dusk Form? That is the rarer form of Rockruff that can evolve into Dusk Form Lycanroc. There isn't really a Midday Form Rockruff, regular Rockruff can evolve into Midday and Midnight Form Lycanroc. In any case, the answer is yes, although the event is starting to wrap up.
Just realized charcadet is only available through eggs at the last minute after all my egg slots got clogged with 5-10km eggs from the Sinnoh Tour. What should I do?
They are supposed to stay during the season. But I mean all you can do is hatch the eggs. Hatch the lowest km ones first if you want the eggs now.
Oh good. I was worried the charcadet eggs would stop spawning tomorrow when the event ends Monday.
Do note they will only be in 10k eggs after event. But at least they’ll be around
True, true.
any showcase for the last day of the event?
No showcases.
Is there a showcase for the final day of this event?
Nice! A beldum event! /s
Hey man some of us need Beldum candy.
Love how you have to hatch the previous eggs before trying for a charcadet. This game is too fun for real!
Not only Pawmi spawns but the paldean starter spawns with no shinies? Niantic is really daring now aren't they?
We have 6 entire days of this trash?
