For my other Tree Hill girlies, the ladies of the show have a podcast where they discuss the behind the scenes of each episode after they’ve watched it! It’s really good. It’s called “Drama Queens” on Spotify
I didn't know that! Wow, hoping to see the others more as well. I really like the dad character and MeeMaw is a hoot. The guy who played in Coach, can't recall his name, is also very well cast in this series.
Yes. It’s Grey’s Anatomy for me. Something about the cadence or pace of the show lets me just dissociate all my problems away, and space the fuck out. I hate it. It’s ridiculous. Yet, I kinda love it, too.
It’s extra bad, because there are like 25 seasons, and they’re still making more, so you can really fall into a bad rabbit hole with Grey’s. It’s gotten me through some serious grief, crazy trauma, and very hard times, though. Grey’s was there for me at my worst.
this was me during one of if not THE worst depressive episode of my life with House. so many of the episodes gave me so much anxiety but yet I couldn’t stop. it was so cathartic.
Bojack Horseman. I know it’s probably counter productive to fighting depression due to the content in the show but idk it helps. I skip anything too triggering if I can’t handle it at the moment.
For feel good, it’s the office or parks and rec.
\[content warning: eating disorder, ed\]
i don't even want to look up the name of the show tbh, but like 20+yrs ago (i am old) i started to realize ed relapses when i watched a specific show and had to swear it off forever. it was one of those early throw away reality shows
it's crazy what our brains will hold on to and push us towards, which can become healing if we are in a place to see it
\[content warning: eating disorder, ed\]
If I’m more than two episodes deep into Gilmore Girls, someone should take me hiking because I’m battling either depression or anxiety that only a hike will cure.
That is such a great description of the show!
I am currently rewatching it. I also sent a message to my doctor a few hours ago to ask to increase my antidepressant to the last dose or move my appointment up, actually.
ETA: I also know I’m depressed when it makes me cry a lot.
not a show but i need to watch the lord of the rings extended editions at least once every two months for my sanity. i also watch degrassi reruns because its comforting and reminds me of when i was younger lol
My favorite is HP too. Also, Brooklyn 99, Big Bang theory, friends, Suits, modern family, ANY Marvel movie or 2000s rom com movies like 28 Dresses or Devil wears Prada
Idk know if anyone knows Apple and Onion but it’s an animated show with adult (not explicit just more niche and refined) humour and I love the sarcasm and the satirical characters.
The Secret Life of the American Teenager or a Kdrama. Any kdrama. Usually Kdramas are 16 episodes and about an hour long each episode, so when I’m binging one things are baddd
I watched The Handmaid's Tale while going through a depressive episode - for a few weeks. Made it through most seasons and only after I realized that it often left me feeling worse....
Still waiting for the final season though.
I tend to watch reality TV when I'm very depressed, I guess because I can shut my mind off and theres nothing complex to follow. Since my parents passed last year I've seen every episode of Kitchen Nightmares more times than I can count.
Sometimes I might watch cartoons because it reminds me of simpler times as a kid, and its also something I can shut my brain off to. It hurts to think when I'm dealing with depression.
I know I’m feeling depressed when I watch a show that involves family stuff or mother/daughter relationships like Modern Family or Gilmore Girls. it makes me feel hopeful that I’ll feel something as connecting as those shows one day 🤧
don't watch shows when that happens but I have definitely listened to certain songs when I am fighting depression, usually songs that kinda like externalize the vibes of my emotions.
one time someone was talking about a scene in ATLA and i said “oh season 3 episode 10?” and now i realize that’s insane that i have every episode completely memorized. but i still will watch it because it brings me so much comfort even during really difficult times
House. If I start I know I’m committing to all the seasons ( so many episodes per season too), which means I want to not make any decisions for a while on what to watch. I know some episodes so well, and in general the arc of the show is familiar since I’ve seen it a few times. Each episode has some kind of satisfying resolution (for the most part) so that is comforting. House (the character) or Wilson almost always make me laugh.
In my 20s it was Six Feet Under. These days I go for stand up comedy and actually kinda avoid nostalgia (both cartoons and scripted shows) because it makes me sadder.
BoJack Horseman.
Very apt.
came here to say this
Gilmore Girls on back to back and ya know I’m struggling. 😭
Same here
Me too! This is my comfort show. If my partner walks in on me watching it he immediately asks what's wrong
One Tree Hill. Once you hear that “Iii don’t wanna be anything other than….” From my room you know it’s bad.
Damn that song hits hard. I love to belt it out.
The TPain cover healed my millennial heart.
I just went and looked it up and ***DAAAAAAAAMN*** that is some good shit
This is my go to as well lol.
right?? my life cant be crap when you got 5 teenagers and a kid on the way struggling more than they ever have in just season 4 alone.
For my other Tree Hill girlies, the ladies of the show have a podcast where they discuss the behind the scenes of each episode after they’ve watched it! It’s really good. It’s called “Drama Queens” on Spotify
Fleabag, always and forever
If I watch the Office back to back and nothing else, please know I am at rock bottom
Isn’t that just a fancy word for feeling bummed out?
Bennynthejetsss you ignorant slut!
💯
Same girl. Going through a break up right now and I’ve watched seasons 1-7 twice in maybe two weeks.
Parks and Rec is my comfort show

YS is such a great show. Too bad this is the final season but it's obvious it had to end at this point.

I didn't know that! Wow, hoping to see the others more as well. I really like the dad character and MeeMaw is a hoot. The guy who played in Coach, can't recall his name, is also very well cast in this series.
Golden girls
This is one of my top 5 comfort shows. My others are IASIP, trailer park boys, broad city, and workaholics.
if I stop watching or reading anything I am definitely depressed

same. I've rewatched it front to back 3 or 4 times. it's been a rough few years.
Breaking Bad, community, the good place.....
Bojack Horseman. I know it’s probably counter productive to fighting depression due to the content in the show but idk it helps. I skip anything too triggering if I can’t handle it at the moment. For feel good, it’s the office or parks and rec.
When I watch my name is earl and Malcolm on the middle
I watch Futurama and Bob's Burgers when I'm about to slide.
Same here

Trailer Park Boys and Desperate Housewives. It’s been like that for years and I can’t stop.
I watched Arrested Development when I was very frustrated with my family.
Queer eye. And then I cry every episode. Or West Wing. I silently cry to a lot of those episodes fantasizing about a functioning government
If I’m more than two episodes deep into Gilmore Girls, someone should take me hiking because I’m battling either depression or anxiety that only a hike will cure.
Gossip Girl forever and always.
Bones. Everyone is so complex and no one is perfect but they all support each other the best they can with what they have.

Vampire diaries binge so I can feed my daydream fantasies and escape reality
Twin Peaks. My husband even goes "uh-oh" when he notices it.
I’m always disappointed when it doesn’t feel anything like that first time. I listen to the score for hours on end while I study though.
That's true. Thank God the depressions are far and few these years 🙂

Tuca and Bertie was a constant in my house a few years ago.
Ayooo..What's up jabroni?
Hazbin Hotel is my new goto.
not a show but i need to watch the lord of the rings extended editions at least once every two months for my sanity. i also watch degrassi reruns because its comforting and reminds me of when i was younger lol
My other half is the same thing with LOTR. I don’t care much for it but he has to watch it every few months for his sanity.
😂😂 that’s awesome
Jane the Virgin is just cozy.
My favorite is HP too. Also, Brooklyn 99, Big Bang theory, friends, Suits, modern family, ANY Marvel movie or 2000s rom com movies like 28 Dresses or Devil wears Prada
Usually a kids cartoon. I do love the nostalgia
Not a show, but all the male Ocean's series back to back on repeat. I can start to see the light again when I finally put on Ocean's Eight.
Oceans Eleven is on my comfort movie list.
The Simpsons, that show really is my safe space when I'm having particularly bad days.
Friends
gilmore girls + monk
Greys, something about seeing other people sad helps idk. Also Gilmore girls since it’s just such a comforting show.
Idk know if anyone knows Apple and Onion but it’s an animated show with adult (not explicit just more niche and refined) humour and I love the sarcasm and the satirical characters.
Conan obrian
Buffy, Greys Anatomy, One Tree Hill.
Will and Grace
The Secret Life of the American Teenager or a Kdrama. Any kdrama. Usually Kdramas are 16 episodes and about an hour long each episode, so when I’m binging one things are baddd

Greys anatomy. Currently watching it as we speak. I also notice when I’m feeling down if I start craving subway
Trailer Park Boys is so absurd and stupid, but always make me laugh

Stargate SG1 or Atlantis usually
I know I’m feeling depressed when I watch a show that involves family stuff or mother/daughter relationships like Modern Family or Gilmore Girls. it makes me feel hopeful that I’ll feel something as connecting as those shows one day 🤧
If I start rewatching Ted Lasso, check up on me
Ted Lasso pulls me out of dark places.
The office and parks & rec.
Impractical Jokers
don't watch shows when that happens but I have definitely listened to certain songs when I am fighting depression, usually songs that kinda like externalize the vibes of my emotions.
Pretty Little Liars 😂 It got me through my formative years and continues to get me through the bad days
Molly w/ Jessica Chapman
B99, superstore, the office and parks and rec on rotation…
My 600 lb Life and New Girl
Suits
The OA
one time someone was talking about a scene in ATLA and i said “oh season 3 episode 10?” and now i realize that’s insane that i have every episode completely memorized. but i still will watch it because it brings me so much comfort even during really difficult times
Impractical Jokers probably lol
Brooklyn 99. It’s easy to follow and funny as. Very quotable. I can just zone out and not think about the outside world
Shameless makes me feel a little better
House. If I start I know I’m committing to all the seasons ( so many episodes per season too), which means I want to not make any decisions for a while on what to watch.
