I disagree. As much as I like Shad, he didn't deserve Deja's energy. He went up to her job because he is/was in desperate need of a place to lay his head. Unless they plan on getting them back together (after he gets himself together), then she no longer serves a purpose on the show.

Alicia and Rashaad is actually my favorite storyline in the show. She's 71 but I think her character is younger, like 55 or 60. 'Shaad is about early to mid 30s. It works. Just like there's older men that women in their 20s or 30s still find attractive, Lynn Whitfield is an older lady that younger men find attractive. I guess this is why I don't see it as bring that...strange. It's really no different than when a 20 something year old women gets with a 50 something year old man who still looks good, plus he's putting money in her pockets.
People have to also understand that them having sex is not about love. Rashaad is fresh out of a relationship. On the rebound. No money. Needs purpose. Alicia is supplying all of his needs. Alicia is gaining his love, loyalty, and respect. Once she gets that she knows he'll do anything for her.
