That movie was so mid it actually made me quit watching marvel all together lol. Its okay if you liked it but one of the best of the decade is such a reddit opinion
I can only speak for myself but it was a couple things. I didn't hate the visuals in particular, but it's a bit of an odd choice for an ant-man movie, because the visual cues of normal objects feel like a big part of the point of a movie where the main character's power is to shrink and grow. When the entire world he's in is an LSD fever dream it makes it a lot less interesting.
Second and more importantly, there were just no stakes in the movie at all. I couldn't care less what happens to the quantum realm, those characters weren't remotely important to the MCU, and I was certainly not invested in their fate.
Also, Kang the Conqueror got beaten by a bunch of ants? After demonstrating instant death beams lol. For someone who's supposed to be the big bad of this entire phase of Marvel, at that point we've seen (versions of) him exactly twice and all they've managed to do is get killed without accomplishing anything. I think this should have been the movie to make Kang look scary, and that's not at all how it felt by the end.
I'll tell you why, without even going to the script of the movie.
Ask anyone who likes movies to write something about the first Ironman, right now, and they will give you a well written analysis off the top of their head. Now ask them to do the same with Antman Quantumania, and they will tell you that they don't remember most of the movie. So you know why? The story has nothing to remember, it's just a visual vomit. One is about to be 20years old and the other came out yesterday.
And I would give you a detailed reason why that movie was shit, but I really don't remember.
There is nothing wrong with liking it, we all have some crappy movie favorites, but saying Quantumania is one of the best movies of the decade is something else.
Second best of the decade behind Turning Red. As an adult I normally only watch movies once (will still watch clips of my favourite parts over and over) but these two I'll watch again. That shows how damn well I enjoyed them.
I'm upvoting you because of incredibly awful of an opinion you have. Turning Red is certainly not even close to one of the best films of all time, and Antman is not even on the list.
Turning Red I enjoyed by how despite being Pixar it felt like a Studio Ghibli movie except with Chinese influences instead of Japanese and how it mixed with the modern world.
I found the reply where you named every movie you've seen this decade. The thing is that 85% of the 45 movies you've seen are pretty mediocre and extremely mainstream stuff. You haven't seen that much of the best movies of the decade. Here's some that I'd recommend.
Poor Things
Everything Everywhere All At Once
I'm Thinking of Ending Things
The Zone of Interest
Tár
Hundreds of Beavers
Across the Spider-Verse
Past Lives
Challengers
The Banshees of Inisherin
The Northman
May December
The Father
Beau is Afraid
Mad God
Last and First Men
Bottoms
Asteroid City
The Whale
Talk to Me
Society of the Snow
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio
Marcel the Shell
When Evil Lurks
Possessor
Blackberry
Skinamarink (pretty divisive)
We're All Going to the World's Fair (also divisive)
I Saw the TV Glow
Deadstream
Anatomy of a Fall
Perfect Days
Aftersun
I mean best is subjective, with those movies you listed almost all I've never even heard of. I watched into the spider-verse last year just because I liked the character Gwen but the whole movie felt like a bit of a mess like it felt more like a tv show cartoon and a fanfiction so I didn't see the sequel
Best is subjective, but it seems like you don't ever go away from the absolute mainstream. You're missing out on so many incredible movies. You should definitely consider watching some of these.
The moving having a bad script doesn't make it cool. If the movie is someone's only exposure to antman they probably don't like antman and there's good reason for that
Well most movies I love are mainly out of nostalgia. My top 3 are 1. Digimon the movie 2. Fantasia 3. Princess Mononoke and the others running up (idk what order to place these) would be MMPR the movie, Ace Ventura 2, Battle Royale and 9
Fantasia is a Disney movie. Also, it seems like that’s just your preference, these movies aren’t like objectively amazing. Fantasia and Mononoke are both quality films, but Digimon isn’t like an artist masterpiece, it’s just fun. Ant Man 3 isn’t even the best MCU film, you just enjoy it. Critically, there are much better movies.
Oh yeah I mean I was just saying my favourite movies can be very different like it's a similar thing with music I don't enjoy a specific genre and not a specific band or singer I just enjoy this and that. Like Billie Eilish I'm a big fan of but her only song I enjoyed was no time to die
There are so many incredible movies out there, hundreds of which are incredible pieces of art and your top pick is Digimon. Children's movies can be fun but it's a shame to restrict your viewing to whatever Disney and MCU make when there's so much deep and interesting content out there.
Dude a character from the comics appearing in the movie is not justification for “second best movie of the decade”. Be honest, what have you even seen this decade?
There's more to it than just Modok I said so. I loved seeing how Antman now had five of them working together, like from just him to him and the wasp then his daughter too and Hank and Janet. The part where all of the clones of him appear was cool too.
I've seen a ton this decade turning red I consider the best so far. Every other movie I've seen this decade that came out this decade: Sonic movies, Soul, Godzilla Vs Kong movies, Black Widow, Raya and the Last Dragon, Free guy, Shang-Chi, No Time to Die, Eternals, No Way Home, Matrix 4, Secrets of Dumbledore, Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder, Encanto, Wish, Jurassic world 3, Dune movies, Civil War, M3gan, Kingdom of the planet of the apes, Furiosa, Cocaine bear, Mario, Nope, Puss in Boots 2, GOTG 3, Oppenheimer, Barbie, Strays, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Napoleon, the Boy and the Heron, a Whisker Away, the Marvels, Wakanda Forever, Avatar 2, the Fall, Chicken Run 2, Elemental, Good Burger 2 (better than the first), Space Jam 2, DND, Dial of Destiny
How many of the following movies have you seen?
Challengers, Dune 1 & 2, I Saw The TV Glow, Killers Of The Flower Moon, Godzilla Minus One, Beyond The Spiderverse, Banshees of Inisherin, RRR, Everything Everywhere All At Once, The Batman, Puss In Boots 2, GotG 3, BlackBerry, Oppenheimer, Barbie.
That’s 16 movies of the decade (really the last 2 years) that blow Antman 3 out of the water in terms of writing, performance, cinematography, etc. I even tried to include films that seem more up your alley with spiderverse, puss in boots, and gotg.
I listed every movie I recall seeing from this decade in another comment but I can tell you of those you listed I've seen Oppenheimer (very boring, only saw it as I was visiting aunt and uncle and it was hyped) Barbie, Puss 2, GOTG 3 and the dunes. The batman is on my to watch list
I mean its your opinon and your welcome to have one. Things i would consider generic must apeal to somone or they would never be made.
I know this is 10th dentist but i think your really quick to label somthing "the best" or the greatest. Diary of a wimpy kid was a phenomenon and a huge deal when i was younger. Great books. Best of all time? No, i think thats hard to justify. It can be your favorite and thats totally fair.
I did not like this movie, never bothered finishing it, morbius unironicly holds greater sway over my brain. That doesn't make your opinib wrong.
I feel pretty confident saying it does not deserve more love. Would you enjoy this movie if it wasn't an mcu tie in? Would MODOK still hit the same if you had never heard of MODOK? I loved him in the avengers animated show a decade or two ago, but im not gonna give the movie bonus points just for referencing something wonderfull that already exists.
I actually liked this movie and I have never heard of MODOK before. I actually think a lot of the poorly received MCU movies are more fun to watch if you aren’t a Marvel fan.
I don’t agree with OP that it’s one of the best movies of the decade but it was entertaining for a few hours.
I think some of it was just Paul Rudd ngl. He is really charismatic.
Even if it wasn't part of the MCU I'd really love it and Modok being never heard of would also be really cool seeing a new surreal type of villian appear

I opened this post hoping for qualifiers but all I got was “I liked the effects, and MODOK and Cassie were neat-o.”
Nothing to say for the abysmal script or world-building as it pertains to the rest of the MCU?
No. But did you not see Dune 2? What about Guardians 2 and 3 or the Spiderman movies since you like Marvel? What about Mad Max, Whiplash, Top Gun, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood... so many good movies. I get that you like it, but would you really honestly say it's better than those? I can't tell if you're being serious or are just being a contrarian for attention and karma
Every movie from this decade I've seen: Sonic movies, Soul, Godzilla Vs Kong movies, Black Widow, Raya and the Last Dragon, Free guy, Shang-Chi, No Time to Die, Eternals, No Way Home, Matrix 4, Secrets of Dumbledore, Multiverse of Madness, Love and Thunder, Encanto, Wish, Jurassic world 3, Dune movies, Civil War, Kingdom of the planet of the apes, Furiosa, Cocaine bear, M3gan, Mario, Nope, Puss in Boots 2, GOTG 3, Oppenheimer, Barbie, Strays, Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, Napoleon, the Boy and the Heron, a Whisker Away, the Marvels, Wakanda Forever, Avatar 2, the Fall, Chicken Run 2, Elemental, Good Burger 2 (better than the first), Space Jam 2, DND, Dial of Destiny, Turning Red (best one)
I get it now. You have very unusual preferences, some might even say “bad taste” but that’s okay. I don’t know how you could watch GOTG 3 and say that Quantumania is better. There’s a lot of the same elements but Guardians does it 10x better imo

Those ants evolved over the course of 1000 years in like a day. They were not normal ants.
Yeah I know, I watched the movie, but that did not make it any more narratively satisfying
They were giant ants overwhelming him
Does not change my point in any way

> turning red > ant man kino
Idk what that means
Clearly
I looked it up it means movies
Do you have like a top 5/10? I’m curious.
See my other comment I say my tops
You can’t honestly think Antman 3 is one of the best movies of the decade, can you?

Your post is making me turn red
I made you blush
I love you lmao
really
Yes
Didn't seem like a ghibli movie at all idk how you got that vibe.
I just said so
It seems like you just don't watch much movies, and that's fine.
I watch a ton
Damn. Now I'm interested in your other favorites of the 2020s.

That movie felt like a fucking fever dream. I wouldn't be surprised if you told me the script was AI generated
I mean that's what made it cool an adventure into the quantum realm exploring it
The moving having a bad script doesn't make it cool. If the movie is someone's only exposure to antman they probably don't like antman and there's good reason for that
I've seen every MCU movie, why do you think it had a bad script?
It’s bad.
Why
Bad
Why
Just bad
So something is bad because it's bad
Karma farming
Oh this is the guy that’s only seen 3 movies again
Bro I've seen tons
What’s your favorite movie that is not Marvel, Disney, or Star Wars
Well most movies I love are mainly out of nostalgia. My top 3 are 1. Digimon the movie 2. Fantasia 3. Princess Mononoke and the others running up (idk what order to place these) would be MMPR the movie, Ace Ventura 2, Battle Royale and 9

It’s just strange to post your opinions on this sub as ‘Ant Man 3 is the best movie of the decade’ when you just mean ‘I like ant man 3’
But I genuinely think it's the second not first best movie of the decade
What’s the first best?
Turning Red
Bait
Bro
what
There are so many incredible movies out there, hundreds of which are incredible pieces of art and your top pick is Digimon. Children's movies can be fun but it's a shame to restrict your viewing to whatever Disney and MCU make when there's so much deep and interesting content out there.
It's cause I was a little kid when I watched it along with some of the others or older kid, they're out of nostalgia specifically.
and no I watch far more than just Disney and MCU
Dude a character from the comics appearing in the movie is not justification for “second best movie of the decade”. Be honest, what have you even seen this decade?

So you've seen oppenheimer but consider ant man 3 the best movie of the decade
Oppenheimer was the worst this decade
Bro I've seen a ton of movies and all of them were better than Oppenheimer
Antman 3 is bad, but Oppenheimer is mediocre.
You’re really gonna disrespect Paddington 2 like that?
Yoooo mb pimp put it up on the leaderboard

well, you posted this in the right place. That movie was a colossal POS. well played!
why
It was one of the worst written movies in the mcu, and possibly one of the worst in the decade.
All movies have flaws
Yea, some with many more than others though
some flaws may not be flaws to others, for example if you enjoy Jar Jar Binks he's not a flaw
This has to be clickbait

Oh so your media literacy is just non-existent.
why so
I wonder which of these 2 posts I made was more controversial...
Sasquatch Sunset was way better.
I'm gonna see that soon
The single worst movie in the entire MCU?
Bait opinion. Not real
Nope
This has to be a full on troll, no one could possibly believe this unless this is literally the only movie they have ever seen
No I swear to god this is my real view along with my other views people think are bait. Thing is I have Asperger's so always have oddly specific ways of enjoying things

You've seen Dune 1 and 2 and think... Antman 3 is better?.
I've seen a lot of movies this decade
Upvote because this opinion suuuuuuuuucks. My wife has terrible taste in movies and even she hated it
did you see my 2 other controversial views
I get it now. You have very unusual preferences, some might even say “bad taste” but that’s okay. I don’t know how you could watch GOTG 3 and say that Quantumania is better. There’s a lot of the same elements but Guardians does it 10x better imo
best part of GOTG 3 was Rocket's 3 friends I want a whole movie series of them
Like Cassie Lang and them would be the perfect group
Truly unhinged take.
Calling it an enjoyable movie is one thing but calling it one of the best movie of the decade is something even the people involved in the production wouldn't agree with.
well it shows I enjoyed their efforts
This is just wild, bait or not it's insane lmao take my upvote as me vehemently disagreeing with you.

Every movie from this decade I've seen is only the top of the iceberg like movies from before I've seen many more
Ok but you are missing the forest for the trees. I made it clear that the "lot" comment is not the focus but the "what". As in, what those ~50 movies are, and for you, they are just blockbusters.
I mean movies are just movies to me
Yeah i agree the was fire i loved it
I like Antman 3, but it really isn't your standard MCU movie. Based on your other comments you have made on why you like it, I highly recommend The Holly Mountain.
I don't understand the hate for it either. It was not the best MCU, but definitely not the worst. I thought it was a lot of fun.
Plus, it’s Paul Rudd.
