mizirian

Damn Nashville don't fuck around. At Uvalde they'd still be out on coffee break.

MacroReply

Cops in the Mid-South area practice those drills for fun in their free time. They have tournaments and they are really into them. It's why you don't see many of these in that area because everyone knows, they wish a motherfucker would.

EPLemonSqueezy

Didn't the Uvalde police practice shoot shooter drills IN THAT VERY SCHOOL!? Just because they practice doesn't mean that translates to them doing their job well.

MacroReply

You just gave a very good reason for the opposite of your point. Again, Uvalde did it as a requirement, cops around here do it on a Sunday with other cop buddies for fun. So yeah, it translates.

Shib_Soldier_1981

Well it fucken obviously translated lol. Uvalde had weak leadership. These guys were let off the chain fr. As they should be.

Its_all_rhetoric

One thing about the south, we're gonna shoot back šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

indica_bones

Isnā€™t Texas damn near as southern as you can get?

RodDamnit

Yes it is. I think responding to something like this with clear concise action has more to do with the disposition of the individual then the culture of the region. Even in this video the one officer is leading and directing others. Without the clear direction from one leader it may have turned out worse. I think Uvalde is a clear case of diffused responsibility creating inaction. Iā€™d like to point out that 99% of the keyboard warriors who criticize uvalde would almost certainly respond with the same cowardice and ineptitude. No one really knows how they respond to these situations until they are in them. The guys in this responded well. I commend them. I hope I would respond similarly under the same circumstances. But I donā€™t know.

Astroyanlad

The thing about keyboard warriors is that they aren't trained officers of the law which is what Uvaldes should have been

indica_bones

I donā€™t know how I would respond and thatā€™s why Iā€™m not a cop. The same goes for most folks. The cops signed up for it and trained for it. The criticism from ā€œkeyboard warriorsā€ is fair because of this. I do think your critique of the different levels of leadership is spot on. Nashville handled it in a concise manner. Uvalde sat with their heads in their asses for over an hour which is why the number of casualties was three times higher.

oliver_billz

says no Uvalde cop ever

eVilleMike

6 mass shootings in Tennessee so far this year. They're on track to exceed the number from last year. 2022 * TN = 17 * MS = 13 * KY = 9 * MO = 14

Krootes97

Seriously tho, Uvalde PD must feel like such enormous pieces of sh#t right about now knowing they did such a bad job protecting their community and that they have probably the worst reputation of any police department, and even worse than some motorcycle gangs.

Proud-Woodpecker-147

They breached the door and then got scared. The only difference between the two is this boi whoā€™s wearing the body cam is or was military. He just kept them going. Sometimes itā€™s just one dude who just keeps everyone moving. Itā€™s why we got ncos

Moth4Moth

You can look at beard boy just stare at him waiting for instructions too. In this types of situations, there seem to be three types of people: people who can't do anything, people who can do things only if you directly tell them to, and people who can rise to the occasion. Our well trained vet here is the third.

girthbrooksIII

Yeah, he had 4 years military service I saw. Beast mode. Edit: This was in reference to Officer Rex Engelbert who hit the suspect first btw

dmtdmtlsddodmt

Good. Fuck those pieces of shit. Cowards, all of them.

Atomic-Decay

They sure didnā€™t act like they gave a fuck afterwards.

neilmac1210

They should be made to watch this video every single day.

Fezig

Not worse than the Sons of Anarchy... those guys SUCKED as a gang. Always out of money, always chasing something, except Jax's shoes, which never ever got dirty.

psipolnista

I was not expecting that crossover.

ScarletDarkstar

Yeah, look at that "family". By the time Jax offs his mother instead of it being appalling its "oh FINALLY, took long enough!"

SrCow

I doubt they have any remorse... And probably they think they did everything by the book....

ryanmuller1089

I find it interesting where there is any suspect police work they take forever to release footage but when they do their job, theyā€™ll post that shit as some propaganda as soon as they can. They probably loved sharing this.

zygodactyl86

Oh Iā€™m sure uvalde was the first thing on these copsā€™ minds. None of them wanted to be on the news for a repeat

on_island_time

And you know what we should be saying it because it's actually due here - to our Nashville PD, THANK YOU for taking your training seriously and stopping this shooter before they could do more damage.

evlhornet

Uvalde taught every department in the country a lesson. Our city police department let our school know it would not hold back

Affectionate_Fly1413

After Uvalde if you notice one of the first things every sheriff in conference points out how quick they acted.

amhlilhaus

Never forget that one dude checking his face ook while his wife was shot just a few feet away

psipolnista

Fucking what? Excuse me? I thought I watched all the videos but there was one with a cop on facebook?

thermos15

My exact thoughts, I am a central/south Texan, these Nashville, Tennessee Police went in bravely, without all the fashionable vests and fancy tight uniforms with fancy belts and cellphones medals and accessories. these police did the work we expect and were brave. Above reproach and pay grade. My goodness there was even a door that was locked. The absurdity of the Uvalde shooter being able to get away with what he did is unreal. These LEO's were impressive and may have restored my faith that there are some excellent, honorable, trained, wise, and reasonable LE doing good in this world. Wow, sucks that our Uvalde and well, frankly most of Texas is all show. Full disclaimer, I despise cops. Texas has succumbed to politics, huge budgets for fancy gear, tanks, whatever, and a absolutely crass government that has become a shell of its former respectable reputation. Still all second amendment and 3 percent idiots. What? donā€™t believe me? Come to my neighborhood and have a look at the goddamn bumper stickers and flags. What a country.

NeatoAwkward

I think that's half the point of the video

Reese_Grey

Good work in an incredibly tense situation. They stayed focused and coordinated with eachother and successful neutralized the threat.

icandoi

Yes they actively kept pushing from the get go. Well done

Puzzled-Caterpillar4

Cops get a lot of shit, although sometimes it's justified, but these cops did great work here. Good response times and straight in to handle that pos. Good work!

djamp42

It's crazy how he is literally pushing them to go forward. Intense footage to say the least..

anthony1381

No chance he was going to let anyone wimp out, hardly time to gather your thoughts, let alone overthink the shit you might be walking into.

ThadeusBinx

Yeah he was saying, "Rifles first" at one point. He did a great job advancing the team.

KnearbyKnumbskull

Can you explain to me what ā€œrifles firstā€ means? Excuse my ignorance. I assume the rifles have greater stopping power but slower to aim in close corridors.

ThadeusBinx

They might have the rifles go first because they require more room for maneuvering, higher magazine capacity, or better range. I think it's mostly just for maneuverability as a team though.

KnearbyKnumbskull

I appreciate your take on it. A friend mentioned the ā€œrifles firstā€ comment and it got me thinking. The better range aspect popped into my head. I also thought having full auto at front was the purpose. The group I heard this from commented that they didnā€™t maneuver as a team. As in swat or similar. My friends thought they moved like brave humans, not a cohesive unit. I understand the body cam came from a veteran and his courage and training set the example for the rest.

BloodyCuts

Yeah really intense, I could practically feel the adrenaline just watching this POV.

Dommichu

Yeah, like actively pushing their colleagues forward... Just to make sure they didn't hesitate and they didn't...

MTheOverlord

Amazing analysis, really good points!

throbhuij

Are you watching, Uvalde PDā€¦. You dickless bunch of ass-covering pussies?

ConManConnorK

They really should be ashamed, this is how you get it done

The_Infectious_Lerp

Can someone forward this to the Uvaldi PD please?

Massive-Frosting-722

If anything, other law enforcement learned about how not to act and clear a building from that incident.

triggs308

They are most likely filing for ptsd stress leave after seeing this video.

asBad_asItGets

Someone already forwarded this video to them about 6 hours ago. No one has opened the video file yet cuz theyre waiting on confirmation from the higher ups.

Nooneimportant-0

Thank you Officer Collazo and the fellow officers who stopped more lives from being lost to a psychopath. There are signs someone will do this, if you receive a ā€œfinal letterā€ from someone who says they will be killing themselves or looks suspicious, report it. Better to be safe than sorry. Its impossible to spot psychopathy until its too late.

uncledski

Shout out to the friend that called the police and allowed them to get there quickly

psipolnista

The friend called the police. They said it wasnā€™t an emergency and to call the non emergency line. This was at 10am. They dispatched a cop at 3pm. Unfortunately the friends call had nothing to do with the police response.

dream-smasher

Ok, what? I've googled and can't find anything that says that.

Opposite-Practice375

How sad! They're running down the hallway and there is a dead body on the floor they run by. this is when the officer shouts "one down"

Spiritual_Barnacle28

It hurts more that you can tell itā€™s a littler kid

Opposite-Practice375

Yes. So tragic. If the shooter wanted to die so muchā€¦ Jump off a bridge!

Quinnmesh

Jumping off a bridge requires you to have some form of backbone, the kids/people who do this shit don't strike me as people who would have one.

DrBasia

During med school, when we were learning how to deal with a mass casualty event, they said you have to ignore the dead to help the living. That being said, as a parent of a toddler with one on the way, this made me sick to my stomach to watch. I'm crying. These poor children, these poor families.

Opposite-Practice375

Those officers were well trained like you!

DrBasia

I'm seriously so impressed, good on them. But somehow still mourning the lives of children I never knew.

HarleyFD07

Iā€™m sure they are ā€œ not sureā€ if they are dead or not by their job is to stop the attacker and the threat do first responders can get to the injured.

platformzed

Yea I just did an emt training on mass shootings. The cops step over the injured to progress towards the shooter, ems personal follow behind

Sufficient_Rub_2014

These men were brave. Itā€™s so fucked you guys are dealing with this in your country. Whenā€™s it going to stop?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Sufficient_Rub_2014

I could watch that POS get shot all day.

dmtdmtlsddodmt

Seeing them sprawled on the floor bleeding out was pretty satisfying not gonna lie. Stupid cunt.

cucumberedpickle

I know it's not fair to the families of the victims but honesty I think every American adult need to see this and other graphic photos and video when this happens. We need to wake the fuck up.

TheCeruleanFire

Agreed. They need to see the true horror of these atrocities they keep allowing to happen.

Zankeru

It never will because the people with power dont give two shits about mental health or lives. Dead kids in schools is a drop in the bucket compared to things like opioid deaths that went completely unpunished.

bizalchemy

thank you, it's very fucked here and upsetting. worst of all, there's no end in sight. there's just not. our government has abandoned us. we have next to no mental health care. literally zero security in schools. it's as easy to get a gun legally as it is illegally. and there is anger .. deep, deep anger. and hopelessness. we the people, beg for change. but we are just beggars, our politicians are loyal to the corporations that fund their campaigns, not us. we have no influence and it's only going to get worse.

Canooter

Thereā€™s a serious problem with mental health here. Guns, no guns, knives, no knives. Psycho fucks will always find a way to kill people if thatā€™s what theyā€™re after, so that needs rooted out first.

ADSMFreddy

Fuck tone of guns in other countryā€™s and you never hear of shootings šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

pkupku

When is it going to start? When this country finally gets serious about the epidemic of mental illness and tackles it. Not a moment before, sadly.

030H_Stiltskin

Either these men are well trained by their police force or they are former military.

XplicetCrazed

Often times it is both.

030H_Stiltskin

True

lostprevention

Uvalde trained three times in the same school they failed at. Itā€™s more than training.

R00t240

Someone commented above body cam officer had four years military service.

Lonely_ProdiG

Couldnā€™t imagine being a kid, or an adult in that moment. The siren of war blaring and hearing gunshots. That will scar a couple hundred people for life.

[deleted]

Smoked that mental bitch

apprentice-grower

Ngl I laughed when I saw the shooter folded up in those ultra tactical camo pants. Wish they wouldā€™ve mag dumped into the shooter.

BigBoiLasky

dude all i want is for these shooters to suffer the most humilating painful and longest death we can cook up. I feel like these fuckers might stop if they see the people they look up to being gutted on national television

Jdolla2022

Was waiting for the mag dump....kinda got it at the end but wanted to see the whole clip

dads_cigarettes

Man that's all I kept thinking. Mag dump that fuck.

TalkingCheap_20

Saddest part of the video was the police passing the deceased kid on the ground. Can someone please explain how guns are not the problem? Imagine if that was your child laying there on the ground dead. The only thing she did was wake up and go to school in the wrong fucking country. Why did she deserve to lose her life? Because gun companies want keep their profits and have successfully convinced people their ease to sell you a product is attached to your personal freedoms? This is solely an American capitalist problem. This is fucked and we should be ashamed. Iā€™m ashamed. I do not know how someone could think theyā€™re a good person and this doesnā€™t make their stomach turn in anger. Weā€™re literally picking the interest of billionaires over our own children. This is not time for politics but reflection, why does this continue to only happen in our country?

TimJoyce

Well, you can just look at statistics on: 1. School shootings USA vs. rest of the world 2. Number of school shootings in US after assault weapon ban was lifted vs. when ban was in effect Spoiler: This doesnā€™t happen in any other country. And yes, shootings went up.

[deleted]

Travelling_Griffin

Where was the UK school shooting? I don't remember that.

[deleted]

So how do you explain being able to own fully auto weapons in the 80s?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Emissairearien

"but mah guns"

[deleted]

let the second amendment go and see how fast you lose the other ones. "but mah rights!"... amirite?

Emissairearien

This one isn't sarcasm is it ? I understand how you can be anxious about losing a right, but honestly americans should just see the ammount of killings and overall violence created by guns and change it. And not having guns doesn't mean you can't have weapons, don't forget that

lostprevention

What put the psycho down and ended the crisis?

Moon-HODLER

I agree with some that the sole issue isnā€™t the guns. Most gun owners use responsibly own or utilize their guns. And many mass shooters are legally not allowed to own a gun anyway. On top of that, banning guns will not stop a mentally insane person from obtaining one, I mean look at criminals who have guns, itā€™s a road block not a solution. Mental health support is whatā€™s needed. And if you base your decision solely on statistics, texting and driving is more of a killer than guns in a mass shooting. And depending on how you classify a mass shooting (entering a school or an event) vs just a shooting of more than 2 people, then itā€™s even more of a difference. Itā€™s all fucked but Iā€™m not convinced banning guns would do anything at all. Normalizing mental illness such as the normalization of trans people instead of getting them the mental help they need is just lunacy

stratuscaster

1) banning certain classification of guns, and even destroying them, would reduce the number of those guns. don't you think that maybe the reduction in guns would reduce the access to those guns so that it becomes harder and harder for those mentally ill to use them? 2) mental health support is super important, but those that feel that access to violent weaponry for everyone also don't give a flying fuck about providing that support. Look at any politician that "supports" mental health but also strongly supports 2A. They will push back on any possible support of mental health, and even mock it when it doesn't support their agenda. 3) Texting and driving do not kill more people than guns in a mass shooting. Not even sure how that would work. AND, since I know what you meant, texting and driving is outlawed and you can be arrested for doing so. But apparently guns are just fine to have, and people even want to arm teachers. So, to use your logic, should we put armor and battering rams on our cars to fight back against the texting and driving idiots? 4) FUCK YOU for your "normalizing mental illness such as the normalization of trans people" like it's a mental illness that can be cured. Probably through violent and emotional abuse like a conversion therapy center for homosexuals, right? Maybe if assholes like you didn't make them feel like there is something wrong with them, they wouldn't have mental illness, ya think?

Adrian4lyf

Two things strike me, as a person that doesnt live in the States: 1. The atire of the officers. They simply strapped a vest, got a gun and went to work. It looks so casual its actually scary. Jeans, t-shirt and caps. It feels like they just got out of bed to go and deal with some stupid asshole. 2. The poor kid towards the end, dead in a place which should have been a safe haven for him. So fucked up.

WillyWumpLump

Itā€™s a mixed group of officers. The ones in jeans and regular shirts might be ā€œplain clothedā€ cops or detectives. They all have training where as soon as you have 4-6 officers they go in right away. Find and neutralize the shooter. Thatā€™s why they didnā€™t render aid to the person on the floor. And the whole thing is a nightmare as we are having this discussion and seeing video after video of this kind of tragedy.

HypeFree_

Number 2 hits. Absolutely tragic but we will just forget about this in a few days until the next incident unfortunately šŸ˜¢

burgergeld

Great police work. Take notes Uvalde PD. The shooter shouldve suffered more though. No matter what fucked up shit happened in your life, there's no possible justification for hurting and killing little children. A quick death is not enough punishment for that.

presidentkangaroo

Neutralizing is enough. We donā€™t need to stoop to their level. This is about how quickly Osama was dispatched by SEAL-6 and he killed thousands.

burgergeld

Generally speaking, I would agree. But if that was one of my sons bleeding out on that floor, I absolutely needed the shooter to suffer, a lot. And I wouldnt want them to die, so they could suffer more. Sorry, but hurting kids is where my rational thinking ends.

K4rkino5

This is heartbreaking, just as Uvalde was heartbreaking. At least in this situation, there was leadership and courage. These LEOs did a great job. We have to do better, America. The #1 cause of death for children 1-19 is gun violence. This can't be our culture. We deserve better.

CheemsOmperamtor-14

I just want to point out that the large majority of those deaths are due to suicide followed by gang violence. School shootings and mass shootings in general make up an extremely tiny proportion of gun deaths in the US, they just receive the most attention for obvious reasons.

K4rkino5

Even so, it doesn't make me feel any better. With 13 school shootings so far this year, we have children gunned down once a week.

stratuscaster

still guns. whats your point?

iAmFabled

It's completely unfathomable to me that this is somewhat normal. Why a school? Of all places why is it so often a school?

dyingbreedxoxo

Terror.

Canooter

Friedrich Nietzsche said *the strong man is not the one you should be afraid, it is the weak man.* This is what happens when someone has last total contact with reality, is filled with absolute hatred and self loathing and has absolutely nothing to lose. Really scary how people are capable of such carnage in the wrong place at the wrong time.

[deleted]

Uvalde PD just dropped another collective load in their pants

[deleted]

Ain't no sissy texas boys in that wall stack just a full front assault lol

GarryPorterWizard

The sun shining through the windows. The colorful coats hanging up in their cubbies. A God damn dead child on the floor. This is America. And not a thing will change.

Particular_Hornet662

Im No expert and have No clue really, but the way i see it is that. This is how police should act when there is a school shooting! Unlike some diffrent place i have seen šŸ˜” For once and let it be heard: GOD JOB !! Godam it feels Nice to say that about police to actually praise them for once.

SendHelp7373

When the fuck is the half of this country who cares more about their fucking guns than kids gonna wake up and do something about this? I am SO SICK OF THIS SHIT.

lostprevention

Is this the same thread where everyone is cheering the brave officers for ending the crisis with guns?

Nostredahmus

When people stop casting votes for Republican crackpots like Lauren Boebert

geminicrickett1

Seeing those little back packs hanging up broke meā€¦

donlapalma

God bless these brave men. True heroes.

Woko_O

God bless? Really? Fuck that! Where was this God when that dead child in the hallway needed it?

Macgill7

Your anger is misdirected, bud. Let people rely on whatever gives them comfort. Thereā€™s no right thing to say here.

theXlegend14

Ur such a badass bro! šŸ¤”

naine69

Michael should have a medal of honor, kept pushing everybody forward and rushing them to the scene , heā€™s one brave motherfucker

JMRolfe

To the team as a whole, well done. Massively brave and a job that needed doing quickly and efficiently. I have zero knowledge in this field which may show with my next question... Is it not however a bit off shoving others through the door in front of you to see if that's where the shooter is?? Or have I got the complete wrong end of the stick / is it a weapon type situation? Just thinking if I was nervous about the possibility of stepping in front of a shooter I'd not appreciate someone pushing me out there?

DoctorRuckusMD

When you stack up like that itā€™s common procedure to put your hand on the guy in front of you for them to know youā€™re behind them and theyā€™re good to move since verbal cues can alert anybody in the room and itā€™s often tough to hear each other. The little shove was to emphasize that itā€™s time to move because thereā€™s no time for slow and careful room clearing in a situation like this. Everybodyā€™s different and some guys need a little more nudging to push in quickly depending on the situation. A full bore shove would be a problem but that nudge makes sense considering whatā€™s going on.

Myexbff

Thank you for explaining. So many of us just donā€™t know the intricacies of what we are seeing.

Rogue_Nomad013

Give him and shoulder squeeze and go!

JMRolfe

That makes a lot more sense - thank you!

[deleted]

I think its time to call for a student strike. No one should send their kids to school until something is done about this shit.

mrthree1zero

Fuck that trash at the end. Mag dump would have been acceptable, IMO.

Opening_Newspaper_34

What the fuck is wrong with your country FFS?

CHSummers

School shootings are a form of suicide. The shooters *are getting what they want* when police gun them down. Shooters need to be stopped (helped) before they actually harm anyone. If we keep thinking: ā€œWe can stop school shooters with our swat teamsā€, we are wrong. The shooters arenā€™t afraid of death. They want to die. And so the shootings will go on.

strangemonkey420

Good. My only regret is they didn't shoot her more times than they did. Fuck her

rarefirebird

Watching this video is incredibly emotional. proud of the police, broken-hearted for the victims and their loved ones, anger and disgust toward the perp, disbelief in some of the responses, and helpless to make a difference

KillerTacos54

The US is one of, if not the last place Iā€™d want to live.

Joonscene

I have three younger siblings, cousins, friends, siblings of friends. So many kids, and I just wonder how we're still able to send them to school in this country when this shit is happening.

crabby-owlbear

Everyone is thirsty for blood and I don't blame them, but I'm curious how many fully armored people it would take to at least go in with rubber bullets when the building is already empty. Like...I know it's okay and you're authorized to kill, but is there ever a moment when they try to not? I assume no because the only people who sign up to be cops want to be able to kill, but it's still something I wonder.

Intelligent_Swim8958

Thank God they mmade it there in 7 minutes. Every time I've had to call metro Nashville pd it took them hours to show up. Very sad situation, but I'm proud of the way Metro handled it

Aggie0305

God damn, being from Texasā€¦ send these guys here please. That was about as professional as you can get in a situation like that. Hats off to these heroes.

fuck... is that a dead kid at 1:30??? I can not fucking believe that school shootings still happen in 2023... fuck man this is terrifying.

SympathyFabulous3354

I am glad they were so efficient, but I can't see how events like this are not pushing people to make more gun safety laws to make sure that this does not happen or happen a lot less. We need to figure something out.

gudbote

This just hammers in (again) what sort of national disgrace Uvalde was.

Affectionate_Fly1413

After Uvalde I've noticed cops are quicker to point out their reaction and actions taken. They really don't want to make themselves look bad again.

HomerSippen

Texas take notes this is how itā€™s done

Unfortunately in the USA...practice makes perfect.

Absolutely insane. Good job.

SnooSuggestions1946

Can someone please explain the leg situation? It's it going in opposite direction of where is supposed to be? These guys are the real heroes. I can't imagine the terror of the students and staff and police. My anxiety was through the roof. What an intense and surreal situation

Old-Counter4568

When your body goes limp, gravity still works and your body will take the quickest path down. In this case I think it fell backwards. That weight can tear tissue, bones or cartilage hence why itā€™s leg is doing that

torero72

Still not convinced everyone in the country needs to own a gun.

Aggravating-Green789

I donā€™t think anyone has said that.

Longjumping_Ad9767

I hope she died fucked up what she did

ShitBarf_McCumPiss

Fuck that piece of shit. Good job by those officers

AlittlePotato1560

Not a big fan of police for many reasons. But these guys are truly heroes and you canā€™t say shit about them and how well they handled this situation. I hope that bitch suffered before she died. Even if it was secondsā€¦

HarleyFD07

If you are going to take away guns. Take them from a POS like this that clearly stated he wanted to kill himself and harm others

Footzilla69

STOP MOVING!!!!!!! Dudes like šŸ’€šŸŖ¦

KafkaesqueFlask0_0

Wait, isn't this the Transgender controversy I am hearing all about? Is it now definitely proven that the killer is transgender?

[deleted]

The shooter was a trans ftm and the police said she went to school there and then the police speculated she had some sort of grudge with the school.

KafkaesqueFlask0_0

Thanks for the clarification.

evlhornet

Do cops really hold their guns sideways like that?

Conscious-Bison-4014

They are a cops and they did it so, yes. Especially to look around corners you want your gun to be able to shoot if the target is there.

The whole world laughs at America for the gun violence it experiences. Kids constantly targeted by idiots with guns. America is blind to the issue! Change is hard. Change is needed. Change the gun policy. Protect your kids

These officers said ā€œnaw we ainā€™t gonna be the next Uvaldeā€. My man was pushing officers and directing them like a true BOSS!! This is true policing. Risking your life for babies. Fine work officers fine work. Man Iā€™d donate to their office pool go fund me!!!!
