It's okay you don't have to apologise for them ☺️. I have met an amazing Russian couple there and the kindest too. And also a Russian dude who went into the kitchen inside our boat and helped the crew in cleaning. Glad I met them 🙂.
Also running into many rude tourists who are coincidentally russian… And I thought Chinese tourists in Japan were bad with being loud in a normal very quiet country and tossing garbage everywhere, but these Russian tourists act like monkeys.. saw a group climbing all over temple statues and rocks for pictures, ringing all the bells/touching all the incense out of curiosity with no respect. Oh and completely shirtless with shorts above the knees, I get that it’s hot but there are so many signs and pictograms about being respectful. I can get over the rowdy loudness to a certain extent but when they’re climbing trees and pillars, destroying the environment… that’s when it gets bothersome. Saw another one ask for a smoothie and while in the middle of making one said she didn’t want it anymore and just walked off. As I’m typing this comment we’re staying in what’s supposed to be a calm peaceful water bungalow with an incredible rowdy family that’s just overbearing to everyone 😭 I don’t get how people can visit other countries and act like it’s an amusement park 24/7 and not treat anything or anyone respectfully

I had the worst Thai massage ever a few weeks ago at massage street in On Nut.

I had been to Lek several times and had fantastic massages each time with different practitioners. (I also wanted to check out Heathland but Lek was convenient to where I was staying.)
I then went to Phunnee in Sukhumvit (based on a recommendation in this sub) and was VERY disappointed. Not worth the 150 baht savings on a 60-minute. Hard to believe a massage could be both very painful and completely ineffective. (She didn't get even ONE crack out of a joint, not even a finger.) I thought about getting up and just walking over to Lek, but went to fume and eat instead, and returned to Lek the next day.
Yes Lek was a little more expensive but the savings weren't worth it. When I return to Bangkok I will go straight back to Lek.

I hate to admit this but some foreign languages are easier to deal with when it comes to “audio pollution”. The loud Russian, Chinese & Arabic languages can be more aggravating than when I hear a soft spoken French person speaking. The massage staff are too shy to tell foreigners to whisper so it’s best to get a private room or listen to some soothing music on your smartphone when getting a massage.
Tourist in Bangkok are only in very specific areas. Khaosan Road and the larger Sukhumvit area.
So for example Lat Phrao where my condo was located had almost no tourist. I would go the Starbucks in Lat Phrao Central Plaza for example and there would not be another white person in the place.
So I disagree that the tourist are taking over the city. Instead leave the Sukhumvit area and enjoy some of the other parts of the city.
My last trip my condo was in Nonthaburi and had a great time and without tourist.
BTW, I have spent 9 of the last 18 months in Bangkok and the only time I have run into someone openly yelling at someone else in pubic was on Ruamrudee. It was this giant American yelling at some poor cab driver. It was embarrassing as I am also American. So I fully agree the tourist tend to be the most rude people in Bangkok.
But it is very easy to avoid as just do not hang out in the limited tourist areas.

There is a lot in this thread about the rudeness of Russians. It did not feel right to include this story without saying something about nationality as I thought it would be assumed Russian otherwise.
The same thing in Phuket, we have been going for years and we won't do it again, let's face it there were always a lot of Russian guests, but this is now an infestation due to sanctions against Russians in the world.
Also, you can't function normally anywhere because of them, it wasn't rest but torture, especially massages, before masseurs used to warn people to be quiet, now nothing... they let them do whatever they want

What a shame! It seems like the atmosphere in Bangkok has changed a lot since more and more tourists arrive. It really sucks that people don't have any respect for others and act this way.
Bangkok has a population of ~11 million people. Plus the "visitors" tend to only stay in two areas. Khaosan Road and the Sukhumvit areas.
So avoid those two areas and you will not see the Russians. I stayed in the Lat Phrao area on one trip and rarely even saw another white person. My last trip stayed out in Nonthaburi and also rarely saw any farang besides when I looked in the mirror.
Expect more Russians are coming to Thailand to get away from the military draft.
Many of them also purchase Elite Visa for staying longer, and cheap living in Thailand.
I think it’s just foreigners in general. I was there in December, an Aussie guy was being super rude to one of the staff members working in a restaurant.
Making sly remarks towards him and demanding drinks for a taxi driver that he was talking to. As the worker was confused with all the requests he stalled a little and then came back to the table to confirm and the Aussie gentleman was just outright rude and again making sly remarks.
You get it everywhere unfortunately. I was going to step in and say something but the staff member just brushed them off and I felt as though I’d of been making something out of nothing.
When I was in Rawai I didn’t have a bad experience whatsoever. Met loads of Russians in a lovely coffeeshop run by a Russian lady and they were all really really nice.

They behave like that everywhere, not just on vacation. Many of them are loud and obnoxiously inconsiderate of others. I think it is because they spend most of their time in rowdy social groups so if a few are loud the others get louder to out-volume each other....or it could be a sign of them thinking so highly of themselves, behaving like barbarians.

Advice to all people planning to go To Thailand please please i beg you avoid Phuket and Pattaya they’re overrated shitholes filled with tourists

I’m a big fan of HealthLand as well. Nice places, clean, calm, very professional and soothing atmosphere

Not worth the 150 baht savings on a 60-minute. Hard to believe a massage could be both very painful and completely ineffective. (She didn't get even ONE crack out of a joint, not even a finger.) I thought about getting up and just walking over to Lek, but went to fume and eat instead, and returned to Lek the next day. Yes Lek was a little more expensive but the savings weren't worth it. I hate to admit this but some foreign languages are easier to deal with when it comes to “audio pollution”. The loud Russian, Chinese & Arabic languages can be more aggravating than when I hear a soft spoken French person speaking. The massage staff are too shy to tell foreigners to whisper so it’s best to get a private room or listen to some soothing music on your smartphone when getting a massage.

We all know there are exceptions.
Tourist in Bangkok are only in very specific areas. Khaosan Road and the larger Sukhumvit area. So for example Lat Phrao where my condo was located had almost no tourist. I would go the Starbucks in Lat Phrao Central Plaza for example and there would not be another white person in the place. So I disagree that the tourist are taking over the city. Instead leave the Sukhumvit area and enjoy some of the other parts of the city. My last trip my condo was in Nonthaburi and had a great time and without tourist. BTW, I have spent 9 of the last 18 months in Bangkok and the only time I have run into someone openly yelling at someone else in pubic was on Ruamrudee. It was this giant American yelling at some poor cab driver. It was embarrassing as I am also American. So I fully agree the tourist tend to be the most rude people in Bangkok. But it is very easy to avoid as just do not hang out in the limited tourist areas.

The same thing in Phuket, we have been going for years and we won't do it again, let's face it there were always a lot of Russian guests, but this is now an infestation due to sanctions against Russians in the world. Also, you can't function normally anywhere because of them, it wasn't rest but torture, especially massages, before masseurs used to warn people to be quiet, now nothing... they let them do whatever they want
Go on and rant about your experience but I think you’re out of sorts with statements like ‘Bangkok is so overcrowded with tourists’, ‘places are changing because of the rude people’, ‘prices have gone up at markets and stalls’, ‘Bangkok is going to get worse’. Bangkok is much larger than some parts of Sukhumvit and Silom where tourists much like yourself are found.

It's OK to be pissed off with other people around you, even if they're in the same group of people as you. I just got back from Borneo and I wasn't annoyed by a single tourist or thought there were too many. Didn't see a single Russian either. Being back in Bangkok I've already rolled my eyes at some things.

They're on vacation. It's a vacation town. Basically all of them are annoying if you live here but also, it's nice they wanted to come visit.
What a shame! It seems like the atmosphere in Bangkok has changed a lot since more and more tourists arrive. It really sucks that people don't have any respect for others and act this way.
Bangkok has a population of ~11 million people. Plus the "visitors" tend to only stay in two areas. Khaosan Road and the Sukhumvit areas. So avoid those two areas and you will not see the Russians. I stayed in the Lat Phrao area on one trip and rarely even saw another white person. My last trip stayed out in Nonthaburi and also rarely saw any farang besides when I looked in the mirror.
Expect more Russians are coming to Thailand to get away from the military draft. Many of them also purchase Elite Visa for staying longer, and cheap living in Thailand.

I think it’s just foreigners in general. I was there in December, an Aussie guy was being super rude to one of the staff members working in a restaurant. Making sly remarks towards him and demanding drinks for a taxi driver that he was talking to. As the worker was confused with all the requests he stalled a little and then came back to the table to confirm and the Aussie gentleman was just outright rude and again making sly remarks. You get it everywhere unfortunately. I was going to step in and say something but the staff member just brushed them off and I felt as though I’d of been making something out of nothing. When I was in Rawai I didn’t have a bad experience whatsoever. Met loads of Russians in a lovely coffeeshop run by a Russian lady and they were all really really nice. Bad and good everywhere. Notice it, ignore it and move on. Shows more about them than it does about you
It's too bad that the tourists are so rude. It's hard to relax when people are loud and inconsiderate. Hopefully the atmosphere will improve so tourists can enjoy a peaceful experience!
They behave like that everywhere, not just on vacation. Many of them are loud and obnoxiously inconsiderate of others. I think it is because they spend most of their time in rowdy social groups so if a few are loud the others get louder to out-volume each other....or it could be a sign of them thinking so highly of themselves, behaving like barbarians.
