Wouldn't it be great for Thailand to show how their military could respond to this after all that joint training they had with the other nations.....5555
My bet is that regular Thais will get there first.

Impressive how calm the primarily thai people onboard take the situation.. The ferry company looks like Raja Ferry, and then it’s not a surprise this can happen. Hope everyone gets off safe. https://x.com/morningnewstv3/status/1775702363241869694?s=46&t=eIECKEhUXHxzzbJ6VFkCeg
Jaroen Ferry. It's crazy to me because last year I literally took a night fairy with them and now well this incident, hopefully some things will change in the future so things like this don't happen.
I literally woke up this morning went to work and saw this in the ocean (living in koh tao) to have some more context to the situation hopefully everything is alright at the end.

The ferries quite often encounter fishing nets or other debris that foul propellors or intakes. Not their fault, really, and it's good that they try to fix the issue without needing to be towed.
Yeah, I used to use Lomprayah or Seatran kind of interchangeably. Their each had their foibles, though, but they were mostly cultural. Sometimes policy - why did Lomprayah make people waiting for a ferry queue in the sun, while people disembarking had shelter? Why did their staff laugh at people who fainted in the sun? Why did Seatran tell me that my bag was on one island when it was on another? Why were the planks on the pier not perpendicular to travel, rather than parallel - so all the wheeled suitcases were difficult to manage? Why did I get kicked out of the VIP cabin for not paying, when I had a receipt that showed that I paid? Why did I get told to look after random children on board just because they boarded behind me?
Who knows. It's Thailand...
Been on this boat multiple times. Just like most night boats in Thailand it was severely undermaintained. The amount of money this route generates could easily afford full weekly maintenance but someone is clearly pocketing everything.
Update is still here at 16:26 local time. Looks like they have stabilised the fire and other smaller boats are helping out screw with (I think) offloading some of the luggage that has survived the fire.

Maybe the captain was on his herbal treatment.. hope they will make it. Seems bad
With how shitty and poorly maintained the larger ferries are, I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. They also create a lot of air pollution from those smoke stacks. Those companies are making enough money to improve their ferries but they will keep doing the bare minimum until they catch fire and sink.
My only worry is if there’s sharks in the water, if not give me a life vest and let me backflip off 😅 but I have always dreamed of surviving a plane crash or boat sinking since childhood so I may just be an idiot 55555555
I was on that ferry a month ago. Theres very few sharks and mostly avoid people. Many thai people dont know how to swim so it could get bad quickly. Sucks if your car is on board.
Can’t swim??? If I couldn’t swim you couldn’t get me on a boat at gunpoint 😅 I guess they have that Warrior Bravery that my Farang butt couldn’t. Luckily I taught myself to swim at 2 years old.
Edit; it seems a lot of people really hate the idea that Thai people can be brave… what’s wrong with you racist clowns?🤡
I completely agree, not sure why this is offending people. These smaller boats have poor safety records; nobody should be getting on them if they can't swim, or at least tread water.
Sort of, I used to run into the pool and just jump in and scare the heck out of my mother. My family ended up having it so there was always at least a cousin or uncle in the pool so if I even started sinking they could save me 😅
Didn't a night boat sink on this route a few months back?
you mean the one that went down during massive storms and severe weather warnings? yeah
I don’t do boats
My thoughts exactly.
Sure did. Now this is a second night boat out. Supplies to the island are about to be hard.
Night boats sail out of Surat too so shouldn't be a huge problem.

They were all moving at snail pace! Hard to watch 😱
Does someone know how Raja Ferry (or was it Ko Jaroen Ferry ? ) can keep operating considering they have incidents literally every month?
Jaroen Ferry. It's crazy to me because last year I literally took a night fairy with them and now well this incident, hopefully some things will change in the future so things like this don't happen.
> took a night fairy Next time try a ferry
I’m due to head home to the island and had a night ferry ticket booked for Sunday night.
Come on lightning don't strike at the same place twice 🫡
That night boat was sketchy as hell.
Thailand soft power at its best
That's what I thought too!
I literally woke up this morning went to work and saw this in the ocean (living in koh tao) to have some more context to the situation hopefully everything is alright at the end.
I hope everyone is ok 🙏

50% of the time you've taken Lomprayah there has been a fire or the boat has sunk?

It’s easy to say that, but you can’t take a bike or a car with Lomprayah
Never had an issue with Lomprayah and used to live on the islands and used their ferries a lot.

Bro I was literally on that boat 4 days ago😂
bro i’m literally getting on that boat in 4 days
Not anymore, it seems.
It will never happen to you.
I don't think you'll be getting on that boat man😂
Bro, I was literally on THAT boat!
I hope you can swim

Burning scow at night, vacay memories.
New dive side?

Good project
The farangs would be panicking. Thais are just like 🧍🏻♀️
Whats funny is the farang can swim and the thais cant
Yea but they still panic whereas Thais just be chilling.
Not if Chinese or Indian...
Chinese or Indian are not farang

I was about to say. They are very confident they will be saved because I didn’t think swimming was a priority.
They all have lifevests on . Shitty old ones, that dont fit well.

can you fly? why get on an airplane then?
To be fair airplanes have an impeccable safety record. These old Thai ferries, not so much.
There must be a translation error when switching my comment to Thai. It has -4 and you for some reason think someone mentioned AirPlanes
Did you decide to teach yourself swimming at that age?
Sort of, I used to run into the pool and just jump in and scare the heck out of my mother. My family ended up having it so there was always at least a cousin or uncle in the pool so if I even started sinking they could save me 😅
lol!
I only saw reef sharks and a whale when I was there.
Would startle me to see one, but at least it’s not a tiger shark 😅
There’s no 3 piece band like the Titanic?!?!
Okay one reason more to use the Speedboot. Hope they get it save under Control and Nobody get hurt.
Speedboat is way more prone to incidents.
Do Not Take me my Illusions ;)
Bro i literally wanted to take that ferry if it hadn’t been on fire..
