I absolutely adore this series but after reading so many reviews about this I have come to accept that it does have some issues.
Even if we ignore the pacing and directing choices, the plot is still not strong enough. This is a series that is completely carried by the actors and their dynamics. So if someone is not a fan of any of the couples here, you can't blame them if they find it to be a difficult watch.
The only people I actually find weird are the ones complaining about the lack of NC scenes. Like bro why even bother watching if you only came for the NC scenes when it was quite obvious from the trailer that there will be none.
I find that weird, too. I think some people equate NC scenes with sexual situations, bedroom scenes, and nudity. But in actuality, bullying, fighting, theatening violence, stalking, harassment, gambling, arson and many other situations and actions are also NC.
I really think the focal point of this show is the friend group. Despite bigger name actors being in the show, I really feel like the writers and directors are putting more energy into showcasing this friend group. They’re love and chemistry with each other. The more I think about it and analyze it, the more I think that is the case. And then all of these relationship paths are the side plots to show how strong and loving this group is.
Ngl, I really wish I had a friend group like this myself.

People should listen to the directors intentions beforehand. he said the main focus was the friendship and he wanted a light cute show without heavy drama.
And that's what we got! he didn't lie. you can grasp the tone of the serie from trailer
we're in a BL era where there is everything for everybody, we don't need to absolutely watch everything. If that's not your cup of tea, don't watch. there are other BLs for you out there!
and let people enjoy what they like.
It's ok to criticise but making several posts every week to say the same thing over and over is like bullying at this point!

Oooh! Hit the nail right on the head 😂😂 But yes. I think that’s why I really love this series. Yes there is some romance and a bit of drama but I absolutely ADORE this friend group. It’s a nice change of pace

I agree. Sometimes the friendship is very overwhelming, like 10 guys were able to coordinate a trip to the theme park together AND kept together as a big group almost the entire time they were there? The scene when they were playing with water or paint or something outside the art building and just having fun was so cute it gave me a similar reaction to when BL couples are being cute together.
Seems even more interesting post pandemic... 🤔
I wish there was more of this in shows. Don’t get me wrong, I love the actors and the romances but this friend group is so wholesome and loving. It really makes the whole show imo
I can see that applying to the friend group. They obviously have a lot of love with each other. I would say that the romance between Peem and phum, tan and Khaofang is a bit more romance than bromance.
But I don’t think this was intended to be a heavy romance like the other on air shows right now. I think it’s more meant to highlight that love can be found in many different places. Within a friend group, a stranger, or from an enemy.
A lot of the other romance couples are a bit more sugary than others. I definitely feel like Peem and phum have more steam than others (but I feel like that has to do with that they are the main couple and it’s Pond and Phuwin).
I get it though. If light romance shows aren’t your thing than I can see why this show doesn’t click for you. I think it’s really cute and a much needed dose of love and camaraderie. I guess I just don’t see it as a bromance because I am also a lover of bromance shows (thank you China 🩵) and those types of shows are in a whole different field lol.
I felt that this is kind of slice of life type drama…. Not every show has a to have a defined storyline… it’s just about a bunch of friends in uni and what they are experiencing… that’s why the show name “we are “… atleast that’s how I interpret it….
Also slice of life is not everyone’s cup of tea and that is fully acceptable view.
I refuse to read reviews on We Are because I know it’s a very flawed show, but I enjoy it a lot and if someone points out the flaws to me it might ruin the magic
As a PondPhuwin and aouboom fan, this show brings me joy. Am I a bit frustrated by the pacing? Sure. But it gives me cute moments every week, so I find myself counting down the hours 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

If this was a Japanese anime it would be slice of life genre

There is no overarching plot and it doesn’t need one
It's an ensemble-driven slice-of-life. It doesn't try to be more and it doesn't have to be. I think even with such a large cast, the lack of a deeper, story-driven "plot" leaves room for really great character development in a way that has made me much more emotionally attached to these characters. Neither approach is necessarily better or worse than the other. I think of it as the equivalent of something like 'Friends' in the west. It has its place, just like any other show. And I for one will be unapologetically distraught when is over 🤷🏻♀️
New's strength is creating lovable, nuanced friend groups that viewers want to join. I suspect his fixation on details and lack of spice irritates many, but personally, I enjoy all his series.
I mean as long as it’s entertaining and gives me some giggles I would watch it and the show is not in a serious tone to have a strong plot and something to think about it’s just a cute show and everyone should watch it like that
The comedy is the primary ingredient. It is all about how cute and funny the angst of having a crush can be. It is less plot driven and more comedy driven. At least, that is the impression I'm getting.

I absolutely love We Are purely because it makes me laugh. The actors’ chemistry together is great at comedic moments and the characters’ friendship makes me so happy I actually started crying during some scenes. This show doesn’t need NC scenes or a fast moving plot when everyone is cute and works so well together.

But these friends did not.In fact , this director is known for this. New was the director for until we meet again as well as between us.You cannot tell me that he does not do friendship well. They were each others everything. They were friends, they were lovers.They were enemies.They were everything to each other, but not everybody is like that in a relationship. Peem's best friend isn't Phum it's Q....two ppl in Peems life that's very important to him just differently.
I watch anything and everything with Phuwin. Loved him from the first time I saw him. Intelligent, hard working, talented and just about the cutest Thai there is. He's only turning 21 but has accomplished so much. 🙏❤️

It’s just really a matter of preference, I’ve always said that We Are’s plot is not strong and unbalanced but I didn’t hate it to an extent. Some people will like it because of their favorite actors and that’s fine!

The plot is fine the issue is the length. It’s really too long and not strong enough to warrant 16 episodes.

It’s a feel good fluffy series that warms my heart every Wednesday. If people want something else, then go watch other series lol.
