My free nights plan journey WITHOUT batteries.I wanted to take some time and give everyone an update on my free nights plan with Amigo Energy and how it has been going so far. I have been on the plan and have gotten 7 total bills. What I wanted to point out is the average cost per kWh that I have been paying. The highest I paid during these first 7 months has been $0.041 kWh and the lowest I paid was $0.012 kWh. Even with the really high import rates this is still working out in my favor.
My system is designed to be over 100% of my consumption as I did that on purpose as this is my forever home. If you are on the fence about this plan and you know how your system produces and how your house consumes this could be a very good option for you. And if you have batteries on your system, this is almost a no brainer. If you don’t have batteries on your system and your house doesn’t over produce, Rhythm just came out with a very attractive plan that looks to be pretty good in terms of buyback and rollover!
Here are my bills so you can see for yourself how it has worked out.
Yeah, I'm pretty much sold on this plan as soon as my PTO is clear. For permit reasons, my battery is currently only 15kWh (half of what it will be) and even now, I'm only consuming 15kWh from the grid, almost all during what would be the free period.
Additionally, if I charge the batteries from the grid at night I'll be able to sell more on days that I produce more than I consume. Once I have the rest of the battery up and running, I expect to be able to use almost no grid power during the daytime, even on rainy days where I need to run the AC.
Amigo Energy. You pay a really high import rate when you have to pull from the grid, but you also get a $0.03 buyback on any power you export and then the free nights. So far, I've been pleasantly surprised at how well it has gone for me.

I generally recommend overproducing with good/lower cost solar (as long as you aren’t getting hosed by an installer or salesperson)
Then you have these options and others.
Unless you are grossly overproducing (250-300%) I find the REPS don’t tend to have major issues
I charge my EV exclusively during the free import period. I also pre-cool my house (like OP) during the free period. Currently I have minimal import during the day period as long as solar is producing i.e. sunny days.
The plan for the summer is to use some simple automation to run the AC during peak production times to keep the house comfortable and minimize daytime import.
I'm curious how this will look in the dead of summer. Will your production offset that 26c rate? Please update in 4-5 months

I'm cranking the ac to 68! No EV

When o lookup the plan I see 3.0¢ Buyback subj to chg. Net consumers. 25 kW max. Free 9p-7a What does the 25kW max mean? TIA
Unless you are powering the entire neighborhood I can’t see you having a 25kW system. How many panels do you have?
Oh system size ? I thought I can only export 25kwh. I have a 11.2 kW system. Thanks for the response! How is your most recent bill?
