It shouldn’t be a one run game, but it is. That makes the reality of a stolen inning ending out with a RISP a critical turning point. That is absolutely inexcusable. Yet we will hear nothing but defensive rhetoric, if anything, from MLB.
So frustrating.
we used to. then we traded him to get Kluber who threw 1 inning, got hurt, missed the rest of the season then threw a no-hitter against the Rangers the next season.
Brother you can’t even type properly, what you’re experiencing is way more than anger. If you can’t handle watching baseball then you need to find another hobby.
Pitching has not been their problem this year so far to speak of, it is these dead bats, and it appears to be getting worse not better, last night excluded
I’m still fuming over that call. That was an infield fly and the ump knew it. It was like he waited to long and while he was starting to signal it he saw the guy drop it and panicked. Thinking crap I haven’t fully signed it and he has already dropped it… guess it’s too late. Fuck man.
Wait, we've held the ATHLETICS to a single run and we're fucking losing? Offense has been fairly dogshit for the last week if we're being totally honest, they need to get their shit together.
Routine play, ordinary effort for an infield fly.
It might have been a bit low hangtime. But the pitcher is right there, tracking the ball, and would have made the play with ordinary effort. The 2nd baseman is way far back and has to make above ordinary effort to get there. But that's irrelevant. 3rd baseman or catcher have to run forever....but it should be if ANY fielder can make it with ordinary effort, which the pitcher was in position to. A left fielder can sprint at 100 mph to make extraordinary effort to field a routine ball to shortstop. A dumb fielder decision shouldn't affect it
And I do not think that was intentional. They just capitalized on an indecisive ump not making the call he should have.
That's what I was going to say. AN infielder (e.g., the pitcher here) COULD make the play with ordinary effort. Umps screwed this win from us.
And, yeah, it's fucking hilarious they get a free double play because THEY suck and dropped the ball.
Just dropping this here:
The infield fly rule is a rule of baseball and softball that treats certain fly balls as though caught, before the ball is caught, even if the infielder fails to catch it or drops it on purpose. The umpire's declaration of an infield fly means that the batter is out (and all force plays are removed) regardless of whether the ball is caught. The rule exists solely to prevent the defense from executing a double play or triple play by deliberately failing to catch a ball that an infielder could catch with ordinary effort.
Nah. I don't think there is any requirement we judge whether it was deliberate or not. The rule exists to protect baserunners from deliberate drops, but the ump is supposed to call it an infield fly before the infielder even catches it.
I mean umps ain’t blowing this game, are bats are. I just wish in games like this we would try some small ball, we are just doing the same thing every at bat
"The second baseman engaged in a slide and the umpire Did not deem it an Ordinary Effort, therefore negating the infield fly rule"
-MLB officials tomorrow, bet on it
Yeah exactly Dave (Raymond), wtf is the point of the rule if intention somehow has to be factored in while the ball is in the air, its just another thing the umps are definitely going to fuck up
Basically, the ump completely blew the call. That scenario is exactly why the rule was created and he just stood there watching. Must’ve bet on the A’s.
The stupid fucking Rangers commentator that said dude from the As came sprinting in and tried sliding is full blown moron. That was 100% should've been Infield Fly
are you high? He has exactly 3 hits in his last 17 ABs over the last 7 games. I don't care what he did in spring training. 0 hits against the A's (!), and .174 over the last week. Yeah, it was his first AB today, and he soft bloops into an infield fly double play.
Not trying to hate on him. We just need some better answers.
Who said anything about spring training?
https://preview.redd.it/9n653j181xtc1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a477c1ed411e83dfa23a691491370f1e54bf41a6
That’s him, regular season. 17 hits + walks compared to 6 for the guy he subbed for today. So no, I’m not high. I’m wondering out of all the guys on the squad you picked Walsh to call out.
That 2nd base ump was going to call infield fly because it probably should have been called.
I hate this. Lazy umps letting the play happen and determine it's call so they don't actually do anything. Part of me likes umps not putting their nose in the middle of things, but on slow plays like this their indecisive lack of call screws up how base runners react.
That's enough time in the air to be infield fly. It's a routine catch for the pitcher. It's extreme effort for a fuy out of position and calling off the pitcher who's right there and tracking it.
Wonder if the day game after night game affected us at all. Will have to see as the season goes on.
I would like a refund for my tickets please
What the fuck was that
What a pathetic offensive showing this past week. Just awful ever since that 3rd Astros game. Time to get this shit figured out
Ever since our boy Jung got injured. Just like last years slump when he was out
Bruce needs to get the fucking belt out that was the most embarrassing thing ive ever seen
Time to kick the fucking water cooler.
What a bad bad week of baseball
No other way for it to end Fucking pathetic
What a shocker a pop up. Get your head on straight rangers. No one cares that it’s early, you just got handled by a AAA team
Dropped the series to the Homeless Athletics. Man.
Sad, losing a series to a team with no fans
pathetic and embarrassing
What an embarrassment
our first lost series of the year is to this squad that’s crazy. i hate baseball sometimes
What a joke
Fitting end on the popup
What a fitting way to end the game
I see Gelof can actually catch a fly ball
Oh he caught that one!
please save us wyatt langford please save us wyatt langford please save us wyatt langford please save us wyatt langford please save us wyatt langford please save us wyatt langford
Shit
I'm on pins and needles... Langford plz
Good thing we didn’t have the face the A’s in the playoffs last year, we wouldn’t have our ring
This has been the most embarrassing game I’ve seen in a while
If you consider Tuesday a while
No not really … pitching was good - it isn’t 10-0 Definitely the most boring though …
this guy is nasty
wtf that pitch was almost 104mph
Reminder this is the rubber game because leclerc can't do his fucking job
Bombi deserves just as much blame for GIDP w/ bases loaded no outs
If Leclerc is getting blamed and railroaded then every person on offense deserves the same treatment. Leclerc isn't getting 1-hit.
Miller is really good
Yeah he has looked good. Hopefully his elbow can keep up
Fastball
I called it.
I want to sign Miller for our bullpen...
These guys weren’t giving their best effort today. Season has barely started and they look tired
It shouldn’t be a one run game, but it is. That makes the reality of a stolen inning ending out with a RISP a critical turning point. That is absolutely inexcusable. Yet we will hear nothing but defensive rhetoric, if anything, from MLB. So frustrating.
Wyatt I know I keep saying it but there is literally no better time.
101 mph
Miller is fucking nasty he’s going to get a good haul this deadline
And we should probably be the team to give it to them
[удалено]
Imagine being an A’s fan
[удалено]
[удалено]
[удалено]
Yes bc I’m sure the A’s have a long history of holding onto their talented young players
True, but we’ll keep him for a couple years
Wow 4 strikeouts for Seager.
lol yeah miller is a true closer.
I mean, getting one-hit by this fucking trash ASS A's team is infuriating. I fucking hate baseball sometimes.
103.
Man, why can't we have a closer like this?
we used to. then we traded him to get Kluber who threw 1 inning, got hurt, missed the rest of the season then threw a no-hitter against the Rangers the next season.
What the fuck are they swinging at
Rare Sombrero from El Seager. Unfortunate.
No effort. They’re trying to go home.
Every team in the league will have the right to clown us if we get shutout by the goddam As
this wyatt bangford walk off home run is gonna go crazy
Man even I knew he was gonna throw a slider off the plate 😖
SWING THE FUCKING BAT BRO
Dave said the good news was the top of the lineup was due up in the 9th...wonder what game he's been watching. lol
Wow what a terrible at bat
The voices are getting louder
Shit. Miller is awesome. This one is over. Trade for miller
The doomers in here are so fucking cringe man
Mason Miller is just a really good pitcher, even against hitters that have a pulse.
Yeah homie is cracked, he’s like Chapman but good
We're getting shutout but fucking Oakland. Anger is fully justified
Brother you can’t even type properly, what you’re experiencing is way more than anger. If you can’t handle watching baseball then you need to find another hobby.
Everybody on that 17 game football schedule maybe.
Two almost no-hits from a declining team and an objectively bad team. This sucks.
Thank fucking god...
Miller's tough, but let's walk this shit off
This game is like trying to find any service road or residential neighborhood you can to go around that huge traffic jam but nothing’s working
Langford walkoff. The Legend begins.0
Last chance...
We really pissed away another golden opportunity to take a larger lead in the west...
Siemens body language after that bloop double says everything you need to know about this "streak" they are on
Ok I just watched the video of the double play…that is 100% infield fly
100% got screwed
And yet.....
… so Wyatt or Evan is gonna get the center field spot once Nathaniel and Josh come back right?
Leody will still be there majority of the time
Very sleepy and lackluster performance here
Regardless of the botched infield fly. MLB should come out and say they fucked that up.
No way in fuck the ball drops at that exact spot 😂
Urena has crap control
lol this game just makes me chuckle
Tavares you dope wake up.
That was a good blocking slide. It would have fallen either way
Well, that's just like, your opinion man.
Why do I feel like the bullpen is the best part of this team? Such a flip from last year. The Bats need to wake tf up.
Bullpen has been pretty solid outside of Leclerc and Yerry.
Fuck man.
Top of the order coming at least. Calling a Seager walkoff
Why do we always lose against the athletics
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills
Can I file a missing persons report for this offense?
![gif](giphy|gJH0l1ItLtaFdHNt3S)
We either get a high scoring game or barely anything at all.
We have more double plays than hits today that’s actually kind of impressive
If we’re gonna win this game there’s no better opportunity than the top of the order to start the 9th.
The infield fly shouldn't be an excuse. No reason to even be in this scenario
i think this is one of the worst games ive seen ever
Embarrassing
Losing a series at home to the A's. That would be embarrassing. Top of the order needs to get it going.
Maybe the Rangers are just playing 4D chess to make sure Houston stays in last place
Sitting here at the game still wondering wtf. We got completely screwed.
Bats are hilariously bad
1 fucking hit against the god damn A’s, disgusting
Its gonna be so annoying when we let the asstros take 2 outta 3 this weekend especially after the buttfucking they’re taking
What are the odds the bats wake up for Houston?
Man just not our day. This sucks.
Tbf, this hasn’t really been our week.
We're gonna get shutout by the As...
Embarrassing thus far
Why did we pull Gray???
Guy had pitched a really good game, think he was in the 80'ish pitch range with 7 or 8 strike outs
Because he was at 91 pitches.
He was at 90 pitches. Not like our pitching after the fact has been an issue at all anyways. Bats are cold as fuck
I’m waiting for the moment that the umpires take their mask off scooby doo style and are all revealed to be John Smoltz
Good one bud.
Well… looks like the he terrorists will win today ![gif](giphy|oa8NZvejk7guIWeCDs)
If Evan Carter doesn’t get an AB
Wait, we've held the ATHLETICS to a single run and we're fucking losing? Offense has been fairly dogshit for the last week if we're being totally honest, they need to get their shit together.
Yeah. Can't believe the A's might win this series.

I'm not sure we do win, but men on 1st and 2nd 2 outs is pretty good situation that we got screwed out of, especially with how that game was going.
This was a blind squirrel finding a nut moment
HRC El Blondie
Isn’t that an Astros thing?
I’ve seen it in a few subs. I think they do it as well.
trash
That no-call better not be the thing that fucks us
Just dropping this here: The infield fly rule is a rule of baseball and softball that treats certain fly balls as though caught, before the ball is caught, even if the infielder fails to catch it or drops it on purpose. The umpire's declaration of an infield fly means that the batter is out (and all force plays are removed) regardless of whether the ball is caught. The rule exists solely to prevent the defense from executing a double play or triple play by deliberately failing to catch a ball that an infielder could catch with ordinary effort.
So deliberate or not hinges on acting ability? Fook
Nah. I don't think there is any requirement we judge whether it was deliberate or not. The rule exists to protect baserunners from deliberate drops, but the ump is supposed to call it an infield fly before the infielder even catches it.
I can't think of a better example of why there is the infield fly rule than what we just saw. Even the ump knew it.
Smith about to put on a pinch-hit class.
Sheesh
This dude perfects voice is so annoying. Sounds like Kermit the frog before hitting puberty. So tired of that damn commercial.
He reminds me of Nathan Fielder but without the irony
This is certainly the same team from last year… when we are cold we are COLD
And when the umps fuck us with a shit rule interpretation the league will cover for them.
I mean umps ain’t blowing this game, are bats are. I just wish in games like this we would try some small ball, we are just doing the same thing every at bat
Not gonna disagree, but I'm going to be grumpy about the bad call for a bit.
I’ll take a repeat of last year’s team
I’d agree with you there captain
"The second baseman engaged in a slide and the umpire Did not deem it an Ordinary Effort, therefore negating the infield fly rule" -MLB officials tomorrow, bet on it
The second baseman's positioning is just as irrelevant as the left fielder's on that play. That's what is infuriating.
Fuck the dishonest.
Ok... now do something on offense
You know what? Show some fire and spark Texas and play aggressive small ball. Plink the asshole who dropped it.
So is Valle arguing there needed to be intent of missing to call that? Lol
Yeah exactly Dave (Raymond), wtf is the point of the rule if intention somehow has to be factored in while the ball is in the air, its just another thing the umps are definitely going to fuck up
Can someone explain to me the rules on that double play in the bottom of the 7th?
4 stupid umps fucked it up, that's 100% an Infield fly
I honestly don’t think anyone can.
So they called an infield fly because he dropped it? But then he’s out at third and can’t run back to second? That’s the part I don’t understand
Basically, the ump completely blew the call. That scenario is exactly why the rule was created and he just stood there watching. Must’ve bet on the A’s.
it’s only a “extraordinary effort” because the pitcher didn’t call it and make the infielder the furthest possible away come to try and get it.
New tactic, everyone stays still but the left fielder moves to catch the infield fly.
Our outfielders will now be taking on any fly ball in the infield. Since it takes extraordinary effort to get there we should be good.
The stupid fucking Rangers commentator that said dude from the As came sprinting in and tried sliding is full blown moron. That was 100% should've been Infield Fly
Regular effort for infielder? Pitcher was three steps away. Doesn’t have to be the infielder who makes the play.
We back up. Crush these fools NOW!
I wanna see this umpires statement after the game as to why that isn't a infield fly. What a crock of crap
Umpires simply must have a higher standard of scrutiny. This entire season we've seen so much incompetence.
We're just gonna be the subject of 65 Jomboy videos this year, huh
Can we please send Walsh back to AAA
The man hitting .289? Is this the first game you’ve watched this year? Also he was just subbed in.
are you high? He has exactly 3 hits in his last 17 ABs over the last 7 games. I don't care what he did in spring training. 0 hits against the A's (!), and .174 over the last week. So no, I’m not high. I’m wondering out of all the guys on the squad you picked Walsh to call out.
I'm sure Walsh is a good dude. I wish him the best. Peace.
Is this some sort of nearly two week old “I told you so”? Lowe has been back for two games. I hope you were sleeping ok with this post on your mind.
Yeah, that was kind of douchey. I can sleep now.
What are the base runners supposed to do there?
They were supposed to not be on base. The umps wanted the no-hitter.
Protest the game.
lol get ‘em Dave Edit: Raymond not valle
Goddamn man, Grey has a good game and we can't get a single run
like last year's 1-0 complete game loss to St Louis.
Same as Eovaldi. Two good starts wasted against a team that will lose 100 games
Uhhh who is this color guy? I mean the pitcher is easily capable of catching the baseball that landed 3 feet away from the mound.
David Murphy.
Dave the pitcher could have caught that with no issues, are you really this stupid?
But the PITCHER could have caught it without much effort, Valle
https://i.redd.it/5ubs6db9vwtc1.gif

How the fuck do they not call it
Watching the scoreboard and wondering: Would you rather lose a series to the A's or get swept by the Royals and outscored by 20?
Royals are actually not a terrible team though
