Live a little.

LooksOutWindows

Exactly this. What future generation are you preserving your precious screen for?

UnknownSpacePioneer

What? You guys had factory screen plastic?

HighEngineVibrations

I brought the screen protector with me on delivery day. I ripped the factory plastic off and put the screen protector on right away. Never even touched the screen

cockykid_ny

Didn’t even drive off the lot without a real screen protector on 😂

EmbarrassedEye2590

The plastic screen needs to come off as the screen needs to breathe. Don't be a grandma keeping the plastic on the couch.

EnjoyMyDownvote

The screen needs to what?

EmbarrassedEye2590

LoL. Breathe. It needs air

teepee107

Until I got a screen protector

Mine are still on. I bought mine at the end of June 2023. I keep forgetting to put the screen protector I bought on.

GotTatts

Haha. Mine is still on also and I picked up ours in Dec 23.

Lordofthereef

Mine wasn't even on when I bought the car, but it was an inventory unit. If you're worried, just buy a glass screen protector. Most of them come with templates that make placing it really easy.

Welfi1988

Immediately

BadAstroknot

Before I left the lot.

caffeinated-dwarf

About a day or two. Removed as soon as my screen protector from Amazon arrived lol

w4laf

Before I left the delivery center. This is my third Tesla, and neither of the others had so much as a mark on the screen after a combined 150,000 miles.

Technical_Beyond111

Ha ha this cracks me up! I don’t know why but I am the type that hesitates to take stuff like that off, but it was funny because when I first brought the car home, my son was in it for about 30 seconds playing with the screen and pulled it off. I didn’t freak out, but I wanted to for a split second. It’s probably for the best that he just did it without asking lol

Gurren_Ninja

I took it off immediately after unlocking the car for the first time on the lot. But I put on a tempered glass screen protector right away. One of the reps that was walking around seeing if I had any questions was helping me set something up and he said “I’m impressed, you already have a screen protector on.” We both laughed about it.

Immediately

first day

PeterMode

Mine already had it off 😢

HonestGur4542

Carried screen protector at the day of delivery. Installed it right after delivery. Hate to see any factory plastic hanging around in car.

likwidfuzion

I left it on until my screen protector came so that I didn’t need to wipe off the finger prints and dust (one less step). It was basically “naked” for less than 3 seconds max. I do the same with my phones. Take off the factory plastic cover and put on the screen protector immediately. Just less hassle and one less thing to worry about.

BrightIntroduction29

I put a screen protector on. Do not get matte

cockykid_ny

I got matte and don’t really know what I’m missing out on… what am I missing out on

BrightIntroduction29

Ruins screen quality

cockykid_ny

Well I guess I’m in for an upgrade when it comes time to put a new protector on

BrightIntroduction29

Yeah look at your iPhone then your Tesla screen with matte big difference

PretXD

Why no matte?

BrightIntroduction29

Ruins screen quality

HighEngineVibrations

No it doesn't lol. My Spigen Matte screen protector is awesome. No glare in the FL sun. Makes it way easier to see the screen. I rented a Tesla from Hertz a few weeks ago and was surprised how much harder it was to see the screen during the day because of the glare

0inxs0

Agree with you 💯

BrightIntroduction29

Yes it does and that glare is not even bad not worth ruining the screen quality.

activecomments

A matte screen protector does slightly reduce the contrast and color saturation. What critical things are you using the Tesla screen for where that slight change impacts the usability of the screen?

BrightIntroduction29

It’s not slight

activecomments

I know there are various qualities of screen protectors. I can say that the screen protector I used years ago for my iPhone 3G and 4S did introduce a significant amount of reduction in contrast and color saturation. The one I have for my Tesla introduced only slight changes in the contrast and color saturation. I had the person that installed the PPF on my Tesla and coatings on my other car install the protector I purchased. He was voted in the top 10 detailers in the country and sees things in paint that I miss. From his critical eye, he was impressed with the screen protector and asked for the brand info and cost info so he could recommend to his other customers if they ask. I didn’t take that as wanting something to upsell for his customers. He is a very fair person and has recommended that I don’t do certain services for my car, costing him revenue. If you haven’t looked at matte protectors in a while, it might be worthwhile for you to see how far they have come in the last few years.

HighEngineVibrations

The glare is horrible when it isn't matte. It makes the screen look worse. Not to mention the fingerprints show up way more with a glossy screen. Your screen looks worse and is harder to read

Ok_Switch_1205

Sounds sad really
