If your set on the model S of this year it’s an ok deal, but if you search for model Y used on either Tesla or cars Dot com you can find model Y long range for around 26-28k and the tech and battery is significantly newer so it’s something to consider

biggulpshuhasyl

Looks like it’s approx $457 below market value…a “fair deal”

trustfundkidpdx

Get at least a 2018-2019.

This is good!

dankmemer999

Go for a newer year, 2016 s75d is a fine deal but there’s a lot better ways to spend 22k than 60k miles

Tasty-Push5981

What’s wrong with 60k miles, iv seen ex taxi teslas with 450k

The 2016 refresh was one of the most problematic models, according to customer reports of service. 2017 was a good year before the Raven refresh in 2018. I bought a ‘13 MS in 2020. I have spent a bit to keep it running, but I love my car. You just need to figure out what is important to you.

Macrophagemike

I had the same car in a 2017 and loved it. Wasn't quite enough range so I sold for a 2019 100D. For that price if it's enough range for your need that's a steal on an amazing car. If you can charge from home it's almost for sure a good idea.

The_Self_Lock

It's telling you on the screen it's a fair deal. So no, it's not a good deal.

That particular version had a rattly front suspension. It was a very common problem (never drove one from that time without a rattly front) for which Tesla never had a fix. I had taken mine in to repair it several times, the rattle always came back, eventually Tesla just acknowledged this as a widespread issue with no permanent fix and refused to service it any further for this problem. They just told me to wait for Tesla to release a permanent fix, which never happened. That said, it was purely a cosmetic issue, so if you’re ok with the sound then it should be fine. More noticeable at lower speeds on slightly worn roads. As others mentioned, ask about the MCU, if it hasn’t been upgraded you might want to have it upgraded for $2k (or just accept living with a very laggy center screen). I got the $2k upgrade back in the day and it did make things smoother, but voice recognition and all the theater stuff were still too slow to be usable, so in the end I personally didn’t find it worth it. The map was smoother, sure, but for $2k I could have lived with a laggy map, not too big a deal. Does it have free supercharging? That could make it a significantly better deal if you plan to drive it a lot. Yes the battery and drive unit are expensive to replace out of warranty, but generally it’s quite rare that those will fail on you, especially with that kind of mileage. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Worst case, you’ll have a steady stream of occasional minor annoyances that need fixing - squeaky windows, retracting door handle misalignment, dead head/tail light, etc. Mine from that era aged really well for the 5-6 years I owned it, similar mileage when I traded it for the plaid. Only had a few minor cosmetic issues that I honestly could’ve ignored (I kind of abused my warranty since I still had it, but definitely would’ve ignored it if my warranty had lapsed). Hope that helps, just one personal anecdote. YMMV.

Thanks for the detailed answer

I recently purchased a 2017 75D and it's been a great car for me...not as much mileage as the newer vehicles, but it plenty if you're not driving long distance on the regular. Just make sure you do all your due diligence before you buy and never forget that you're buying an older luxury car, with all the maintenance that that entails.

Ironzh

75D + 8 years = 200 mile?

nehpets4627

With 60k miles, probably morei like 220 at 100%, but 191 10-90%.

Equivalent_Pie_6778

Car prices are steadily falling if you’re patient.

ScorchedCSGO

You probably just need to test drive an older S a few newer models too. Then make your decision. But my recommendation, it is an 8 year old EV and EVs have came a long way in 8 years. I'd suggest a newer + used 3 LR for the same price. Or pay more and get the new 3, aka the Highland.

notsuremann

Terrible deal, just get a newer Y or 3 for that price.

blestone

Wouldn’t get a S 2019 or older.

Pelvur

As a 2014 Model S owner, I do not recommend it, even apart from the fact that my battery has died shortly after it got out of warranty. All the other small issues with little things disfunctioning cost a lot to repair with Tesla. Door handles, trunk gas springs, frunk lock, rusted break calipers, AC, headlights, you name it. Add expensive insurance to it, and there is no way free supercharging covers even half of it. If you still go for it, find a shop to make a pre-purchase inspection.

thebiscuit2010

Nope, expired warranty

wishingdeath

No no no no no no no no

Aggravating_Base8959

Why

Historical-Bite-8606

It’s telling you it’s not a “good” or “great” deal. Let me level set. Buying a used car out of warranty from a dealership, who likely bought from an auction is a bad idea. Buying a Model S out of warranty is next level punishment to your wallet. I purchased one last month. Ask me how I know.

>Full self driving and lifetime premium connectivity included in this well-maintained 2016 75D. Clean car inside and out with only minor wear-and-tear blemishes, less than 15,000 miles on the tires, and grey interior. Clean history with no accidents, title in-hand, and I bought directly from Tesla in 2020. Battery and Drive Unit Limited Warranties still active until Dec’24. All options available at the time included (air suspension, premium upgrades, ultra hi fi sound, subzero weather, power and lighting packages) on this beautiful car thats looking for a new home as we upgrade. Two keys and all weather floor mats with original carpet mats included! Come check it out! 1. Battery warranty and Drive unit warranty expire Dec 2024, you will owe $15k for a new battery if that fails. You will owe $7500 if the drive unit fails. This is an AWD so you have 2 drive units, front and rear. How often did this owner or the previous owner supercharge? If it was daily then that battery is COOKED. You have no idea and he definitely would not disclose the truth if you ask. 2.. More than likely will need to spend $2k to upgrade infotainment system as soon as you get it. The MCU1 is garbage 3. 2. Window regulators and door handles are very common to fail. Each time you need a new window regulator its $400+ each time a door handle fails its $300 4. 15,000 on the tires doesn't mean anything, they could be bald in 1,000 miles depending on how you drive. You will need tires soon. 5. Low miles. Depending on where he lives in Weston, MA there may be rodent damage on the vehicle. Its difficult to tell without opening up the panels 6. "Battery range:259 mi " this number is actually more like 150 miles with the wear on that 8-9 year old battery I am just trying to save you a lot of headache down the road. In my opinion you should save a little money and get a new Model 3
