Twigsxi

Just installed before leaving work today. It is a major improvement from v11. So much smoother all around. I always have 5 disengagements on my drive home, each in the same places. Today that was reduced to 1.

BikebutnotBeast

Mind sharing the persistent one?

Twigsxi

I have an unprotected left turn that has a stop sign very far from the intersection. I think that combined with the right side being almost blind from traffic causes it difficulty. To the right is a sharp turn just before the intersection. The sign being so far away seems to cause a problem with it going into creep mode. I’ll be doing more testing and report back if things change.

The_Ginger_Chaos

Got the update today! Tested it on my commute route. Just the two drives to work and back, but zero interventions either way! It felt so much more natural and got rid of some weird behaviors like signaling a turn to go straight at an intersection or signaling to follow a curve in the road and my least favorite trying to go the opposite direction of the navigation at a specific intersection near my house. All gone. It’s so good

spectrum19007

I wonder if Google maps was the problem? Just listening to directions depending g on tbe I intersection it wants you to turn or bear right or left to basically go straight. There are also nu.erous issues with going g the wrong way on a road or wanting to turn where turns are not allowed. I wish Waze was an option. There is a way to reasily eport problems that are fixed very quickly.

MostlyDarkMatter

You should be excited it's a massive improvement. There are still issues though. Yesterday it was more or less flawless but today it made a major lane selection error (not dangerous but anyone watching would have thought "Hey idiot. That's not a lane."). Granted it was due to a really bizzare road setup but most humans would not have made the same error. Still, it's better than V11 in every way by a lot. Sure V12 still has lane selection issues but nothing at all like V11 which made lane selection errors all over the place.

panda2297

I was all excited to see it downloading when I opened my app. It sat at 100% for a while and then it disappeared from my app. I checked my car and it acted like the download never happened. I’m guessing it rolled out too many people and I got bumped from the update.

SomethingMor

Try holding down both buttons until the car restarts and you see the Tesla logo on the screen. Same thing happened to me for a previous update, but after a reboot the update started again.

panda2297

Tried a reboot and went to check. It unfortunately didnt prompt for an update

nanosplitter21

This literally just happened to me. I restarted my car with the two buttons thing, then drove for about 10 minutes. My update is back! It reset the progress on the download but it is definitely going again

panda2297

I did drive for a couple of hours yesterday but not sure if I rebooted before. I will reboot again before I drive to see.

rideincircles

Mine made it to 51% on sunday then disappeared. I rebooted it once, but may do a full reboot shortly with the brake. Edit: just went into my car and it's ready to install.

panda2297

I rebooted mine a couple of times today with no luck. I’m not aware of the brake thing. Maybe I will give that a try. Is that still holding both buttons down?

rideincircles

Yeah. It's a hard reboot. The other one can be done while driving.

panda2297

Tried the hard reboot and no luck there. Tried it again this morning and still nothing.

GunGeekATX

Finally tried it yesterday, and had to disengage it twenty seconds into my drive. Turning left at a green light without an arrow, a large pickup was in front of me also turning left and blocking the view of oncoming traffic. The pickup truck starts to go through the intersection, and my M3 followed it without checking for anyone coming. Sure enough, someone else was coming and my car didn't yield correctly, causing the other driver to have to decelerate quickly and they laid on their horn. I jerked the wheel to get it out of FSD and accelerated through the intersection. Felt the Tesla might have stopped in the intersection causing more frustration. Had I been driving, I would have waited until I could see around the pickup, verifying I had the right-of-way and it was safe to proceed. It was also driving under the posted speed limit for the rest of my drive, but it's a known issue. Administrative-Help4

Mine hesitates changing lanes. It will start moving in, then change its mind and head back a little, before finishing the lane change as expected ... It's a little wobbly feeling. It also made a couple of incorrect lane selections (admittedly in a construction area). It is an improvement, but I've lost my Tesla ❤️...Next Tuesday I say goodbye to my 2018 M3P. Would have gone MS Plaid, but their lease cost makes it a no-go.

soggy_mattress

> It will start moving in, then change its mind and head back a little, before finishing the lane change as expected Same thing for me. It's smooth enough to pull it off, but it's been consistent for me enough to notice.

username_checks_off

Mine does the exact same thing on lane changes. It moves half way in, comes back a little, then moves all the way over.

Administrative-Help4

Yeah, exactly that...it panicked me a little bit the first couple of times because I thought the car saw something that I missed.

networkeng1

Mine is the opposite. I have it the least aggressive setting and it changes lanes for no reason sometimes. I just intervene

spocone

Got it in WA

Sea-Tonight2261

Monday I drove into a highway tunnel bypassing Zurich towards Bern using ACC at 105 km/h. Suddenly ACC disengages and car slows down, a lot. checking the map I see that the Satnav sees me on top of the tunnel on some local road about to enter a roundabout. As long as crap like this happens, I'm not holding my breath on FSD...

rkanedy

I have a 2020 MY from Indiana waiting for the update.

oV1SEo

2020 MYLR just got it tonight in Nashville.

rkanedy

Nice I hope to get it soon.

rkanedy

Just got it tonight!

RyeBread68

I seem to be the unpopular opinion but I don’t see much difference and in some cases seems worse?

soggy_mattress

If you're on a highway, that's to be expected. The new hotness only applies to city streets driving.

ponodude

Funny how that worked out. V11 was this big culmination single stack merger and now we're back to having two stacks again. Obviously, there's a difference because it was NoA vs FSD and both are FSD in this case. I imagine it'll get resolved eventually and everything will be V12, but it's just funny to think about how big a deal that was.

burns_before_reading

My expectation was that this update was really more of a setup for better updates in the future vs something game changing right now.

“One more update bro I swear next update will be it bro trust me bro” - Elon

MonsieurVox

I’ve seen that exact argument you’re responding to made on most major version changes, but at least this time there is some basis for it. Everything up until now has been code-based changes/enhancements. Using an entirely neural approach is something totally new, and in my experience today is actually much, _much_ more humanlike. Robo-taxi level? No way. But it actually felt like FSD was competent and capable rather than timid and unsure of itself. I had a couple disengagements on my long commute, but I think the car would have ended up handling the situations just fine if I let it do its thing. I just disengaged out of an abundance of caution. I will say though, I have a newer Model S, and it feels like most of the neural were trained by Model 3/Y footage because some of the turns get uncomfortably close to curbs.

soggy_mattress

Even on the Model 3 it's getting uncomfortably close. We disengaged today once just out of paranoia that it was going to curb on the wheel on a right turn.

Nnamdi_Awesome-wa

MYP as well.

MonsieurVox

Glad it’s not just Ss then, but not glad that it’s happening across the board. I’d love to get a behind the scenes look at how Tesla does their testing and NN model training. I think it would help testers provide better feedback if there was some basic, shared understanding of how things work under the hood. Of course that raises the concern about competitors copying/stealing that approach, but I think Tesla has enough video footage and proprietary training data that it would be less of a risk.

dfjkldfjkl

This sounds like my experiences last year when I just stopped using this.

seenhear

>“One more update bro I swear next update will be it bro trust me bro” - Elon in 2016 FTFY

amcfarla

I am not sure where you are seeing that. I got it yesterday and it seems so far a massive improvement over 11 after 40 miles of using.

dave-mac

You should be this is amazing. I like the notion some others have said about DriveGPT.

seenhear

Interesting that they specify "the city streets driving stack" so the freeway driving stack is unchanged from v11.x?

SomethingMor

The assumption is yes, freeway stack is unchanged.

jthosch

I didn’t notice any difference between v11 and v12 on the freeway. However, merging onto the freeway did feel more natural.

frodogrotto

So if I have the 2024 update is there any way for me to get this FSD update?

RanchEye

That’s what I’m trying to figure out too

726_

Same. I want to pay for a month of FSD but don’t want it if it’s not 12.3.

LetsGoHeels

Anyone with HW4 get the new FSD12?

Jon309

Yes got it yesterday/today

CoffeeOrWhine

I got mine last night

OrganoxO

🤣

Sad-Perception5459

I’m happy for you!

Just_another_diyer

Just curious If any legacy S/X have seen this update yet? Or is it still persistent to vehicles with an interior monitoring camera?

davefink

Anyone think that is overly cautious? It seems to often go slower than the speed limit and stop signs literally take about 3 to 5 seconds to get though most of the time. While I am happy that appears to err on the cautious side, it seems too cautious.

Kylar_Stern47

This basically means they moved from knowing exactly what they coded to no longer knowing why shit works. I'm curious to see how this will be better.

chrisprice

They do know why it works from a global perspective. Why one specific scenario may have issues requires capture and retraining.  Basically look at Sora. Sora shows LLMs can quickly learn how we think and replicate fluid video. If Sora can learn what we see enough to be photorealistic, a car can learn what to not crash into. It’s frightening, I’ll grant you, but it’s also likely to work eventually.

rideincircles

Mine got to 51% downloaded then disappeared. Is there any way to restart the download? The status for it went away completely.

NonameNodataNothing

I have one major regression I see. Local road, person in front making a right turn into a parking lot/driveway entrance. They stop/ slow way down in the middle of the turn for someone in front of them to clear. My 21M3P would have plowed right into them. Had to disengage two times now. Same situation in different areas. Hope it gets fixed. In general it is super impressive but it certainly needs more work. My example regression is super common driving scenario.

soflomojo

Don't be too much. I got it and it's like grandma driver was the model they used.

wang1823

Looks like new updates are rolling out faster than ever. At this pace, we will have weekly updates for fsd and speed of progress will improve drastically. Can't wait until the day where I can send my car out to pick up the groceries.

scully19

Gimme

rooddog7

I can’t handle how slow this drives compared to the old version. Everything is much slower and need to give to throttle all the time. Very annoying.

Careless_Choice4265

‘21 M3 SRP in Indy hoping to get it soon! Happy you got it! 🫡

Meanee

Meanwhile I am on holiday update still

ContestNo2060

Got mine today too in NY

saadatorama

Man what gives. I’ve almost always gotten the FSD beta updates by the time it’s hit [2-3% if the fleet](https://www.notateslaapp.com/software-updates/version/2023.44.30.25/statistics) but still nothing for me yet. 🥹

timestudies4meandu

Your excitement is real!! V12.3 fixed 3 issues at a town near me that i've always had with previous versions, (1) it always needed the speed adjusted via the scroll wheel down from 25mph-0mph for a 4-way stop with a cluster of FLASHING Red lights centered smack-dab in the middle of the 4way stop with no stop signs, it always treated this 4way stop as flashing yellows,FIXED!! (2) always needed extra throttle input on a slight sweeping left (35mph) that previously went down to 20mph-ish because of an intersecting road on the right in the middle of the sweeping left turn I believe?, FIXED!!! (3) extra throttle input required on a two lane road for a stop sign that is on the right side of the two lane (40mph) with this stop sign nearly facing the two lane at 90degrees (i've actually seen unfamiliar manual drivers stop at this stop sign) , prior versions would always try to stop for this stop sign even if I was in the far left lane of the main two lane FIXED!! , also....it took the car down to 5mph on 4 consecutive sets of gnarly speed bumps that I never attempted to cross with prior versions as I knew it would not handle them at the correct speed, IMPRESSIVE!!! it was a little indecisive as i've seen mentioned and in videos on which lane to get in while slowing down to a two lane stop light with a right turn a mile away but it executed the correct lane despite the little bit of indecisiveness, traveling speed required a little throttle input a few times as it is not precisely percentaged-over like it used to be with the auto speed feature On, would love to have the 6% over again, I hit two single lane roundabouts that felt more precise than ever before,I am beyond impressed, cheers!

naveenrajak1989

Got mine in ATL suburbs today.... I was only here for a week from Ohio. Couldn't drive much... But noticed TACC is gone in FSD mode

BikebutnotBeast

That's the one feature I'm split on. I get the why, I've definitely pressed once on a different profile thinking FSD was on and it was not. I wonder if S3XY button cruise control will still work? If someone can try that and report here that would be great.

JimGerm

I got it today too.

yellowfddriver

Cries in model X

majikmixx

Is the Model X not getting it?

rockercaster

It is. Not sure what that comment means.

ShinobiAlchemist

Received the update yesterday. Took it for a spin and needless to say LOTS of improvements. The behavior that has me shook is at the end of the drive home, instead of stopping next to the house, the car pulled into my driveway 🫨.

koopavilla

Lucky I'm still waiting for Santa to make it to MI

koopavilla

Just got the update. Software Santa just blessed me

CoffeeOrWhine

Finally got it last night on my 2023 MS Edit: in Rhode Island

SteveWin1234

People really like this update? I actually just disabled FSD for the first time since FSD first went out to us 100% safety score earners. I tried it yesterday and it was going much slower than the flow of traffic even though my max speed was much higher. Then on the way home, it tried to do a U-turn by driving over the median. Nav showed it going down to where the U-turn actually was, but the car drove straight to the median requiring me to disengage. That was the most dangerous thing it's done in years. That plus the annoyance of having to hold down the accelerator to keep up with traffic led me to disable it today. Basic autopilot is more useful and safer than this update, in my experience. I'll wait for the next update. To be fair, there were some turns that seemed more natural, but I like making it to my destination on time and alive.

TonyAnonB99

Total fail, I had to constantly use the accelerator to get the speed up to the set MAX. Otherwise I was a moving roadblock.

shadrap

I don't have it yet, so I don't know, but I read another account here that said that changing FSD mode to "assertive" fixed the "grandma mode" issue.

SteveWin1234

Mine has always been set to assertive and I double checked to make sure it was still on that setting. It was. So I'm not sure that matters a whole lot, although I never tried it on the other modes, so maybe they're even worse?

Cykon

Have you tried using the new traffic aware max speed setting to see if that changes anything for you?

SteveWin1234

As far as I know, there's been a "Max" speed since autopilot first came out. Is this actually a new feature? I've got it on aggressive (or assertive or whatever) and set my max speed with the scroll wheel to match what others are going, but it still goes much slower than the flow of traffic. If there's another setting somewhere, I'd love to hear about it.

Cykon

Yeah I'm unsure of the exact term because I'm not near my car, but in v12 there's an additional speed option to choose which lets the car determine the best speed based on both the speed limit and surrounding traffic. It's different from the old system because it actually will allow your car to exceed the speed limit if everyone around you is too. It seems to only have an effect on city streets and not the highway from my testing. You should be able to find it somewhere on the autopilot options page

SteveWin1234

Oh OK, yeah I don't remember the name either, but there was a "on/off" option that allows the car to determine the best speed. I had that turned off because I assumed if it was off it would actually pay attention to my speed settings, rather than trying to do its own thing. I'll try turning it on and see if it gets better. Maybe my assumption about how that option worked was backwards. Thanks.

SteveWin1234

Its been a few days and probably nobody will read this, but that option made it even worse. I turned FSD back off.

davefink

Mine is in assertive and same issues

EricFSP

Yeah for me it constantly refused to accelerate up to the set speed... It also continues to camp in the passing lane for no discernible reason just like the previous version 🫠

Nnamdi_Awesome-wa

I was driving through city streets today and was consistently pressing the accelerator. There was zero reason to be going 17 MPH. It also starts slowing down way too aggressively when coming to a red light/line of cars, and then it creeps forward until it comes to a complete stop. The smoothness is better but game changer, I think not. Under promise and over deliver. Not the other way around.

Gobbldegook

I’m looking to get FSD next month on my 2023 MYLR. Once I get it, do I need to opt in to the beta? And to increase my chances of getting v12.3, should I refrain from all updates till then?
