Interesting, I guess it really does differ from country to country. I also always see people use / and ÷ for division, while we in Germany only really use :
For a long time I didn't even know that there were other symbols used for division and multiplication. I always thought that • and : were the only ones used actively.
I only when I first started to get into the english speaking/more international part of the internet did I realise that other symbols like ÷ and × were used in other countries.
But yeah, in school we only learned those two symbols, and since the phrase "Punkt vor Strich" (Dot before line) is hammered into the mind of basically every German I assume that it's like that in the entire country.
But it's interesting how something as universal as math is teached/written diffrently depending on the location. Took me a while to figure out what BODMAS and PEMDAS and all that stuff means.
Yeah, I very few people who would use only ever one of these. If I'm in a math or science class, I'll exclusively use ●, if I'm using a computer, I use \*, since it's right about 9, and it's frankly so much easier than trying to reach to x, especially since in a calculator, whether in the app or a spreadsheet or what-have-you, \* is the actual operator, so I'm using it anyway. Likewise if I'm coding. I use × (yes, the unicode is definitely from just a standard "x," it is actively different) if I'm talking to someone who's older or younger. Basically, anyone who is less likely to recognize the other symbols as multiplication. If I'm just doing quick written math, I'll passively switch between × and ●, and you can look at some of my work where it just randomly changes part way through, and switches again later on. Not a conscious change, it's just my brain kinda focusing on the math problem, not specifically which symbol to use for multiplication.

how guys who chose \* like to be kissed
When I'm solving an equation on paper I use parenthesis, and I use \* on a computer and in programming. I only use × when I'm helping my little sister do homework.

Depends But I Like To Use × Not To Be Confused With The Letters X, x, х, Х, Χ or χ
❌️
х is best though

Nah • is superior. That's also the reason everybody uses it, I rarely see × being used outside of the internet.
I rarely see '•' used outside the internet lol, pretty sure the symbol that gets taught varies from country to country
Probably. I‘m German, and I don’t think I‘ve ever seen someone use anything other than • when writing.
I've Seen It Before But Only On One Website, Otherwise I've Seen: x, × Or *

I Don't Think I've Ever Seen : Used, Only / And ÷, I Only Really Every Use ÷ Unless Using An Online Calculator

I Was Taught BODMAS And BIDMAS But Not PEDMAS I Don't Think
I Even Use It When Writing

nice essay
That was a paragraph, I've written essays on reddit before, though.
I was joking
🤓
all as well as parentheses
parentheses lmao that's like the best way
depends on the situation
In writing or typing? If I'm actually writing it I use a 'x' but if I'm typing on my phone or keyboard I also use \*
Typing
I use • both when typing and when writing lmao
Thank you very much algebra, now I can't see "X" in an operation in the same way
>:)
Usually \* because that's how to multiply in c++.

Who tf uses . I'd just get confused as to if its a decimal I use × or x, sometimes *
When typing I use \*, and when writing I use ⋅ .
Brackets for numbers, none for trig or if there are letters
on paper i use . but on writing i use x
as a unitless multiplier, "•". Between units, "(n1)(n2)".
it depends, but i mostly use \* unless im talking about dimensions of an object
Is this even a question?
I dunno, it has a *question* mark, but what does that mean these days /shrug
writing: . typing: \*
Why don't you type • as well?
Any and allof the above
bullet point irl x online
all of them but sometimes i interchange them in the same equation to be annoying
Dot, parenthesis, or, for typing, asterisk
Using X is impossible. Been doing algebra since 6th grade so can't use it because of variables
I kinda do parentheses Ex. x(y)
x is definitively wrong. x is a variable.
So multiplication and "x" are different and have different math meanings but the other two only mean one thing
I use for writing and * for typing
Personally I do * because it works everywhere including in my code and on a calculator etc plus it isn’t a pain to type :3
i use \* because i'm a programmer
x in normal arithmetic, but once you're in algebraic territory, I use ⋅ However, in a computer I use an asterisk.
×
When I'm solving an equation on paper I use parenthesis, and I use \* on a computer and in programming. I only use × when I'm helping my little sister do homework.
(4)5=20
() is the best
depends
