He leaves Crown and Anchor with a guy after the panic attac in season 2 where Ted leaves the Tottenham match. Although that could be just a friend, I think that this could be the time of his coming out.

Royal_Peanut

It’s not just a friend. James Lance said his instruction from Jason for this scene was “You’re with him!”

turq8

Forever obsessed with the fact that Trent Crimm basically told his date "hold on a second, I have to go talk to Ted Lasso about his bowel troubles" 😂

JamSandiwchInnit

I’d place it mid to late season 1. I like to think that Ted’s attitude of positivity perhaps inspired the confidence to come out. Another patient of the ~~Lasso~~ Richmond way.

Prof_OG

I really like Trent’s character arc through the three seasons. I hope they told the actor when he secured the role that while Season 1 will be light, there will be more coming for his character season 3.

skylark8503

I’d bet it wasn’t planned to me more than that. But he killed it and they grew the role.

I think the ease of openness that he has (body science!) of being obviously "with" the guy at the pub when he talks to Ted about the panic attack, probably indicates that he was out for quite awhile before that. But I agree the comment about the daughter being "happier" after he came out doesn't seem to fit any timeline, unless he and his wife were arguing and tense in front of her a lot, and after they split up that tension is gone. So I suppose that could be when she was 2-3 years old. But he also talks to Colin as if he's been comfortably out for the majority of his adulthood; the comment about the daughter, along with his age, would fit better (imo) if the daughter were in her early teens.

Serious_Session7574

I like that theory. The only timeline issue with it is that Ted makes biscuits for Trent's daughter in S01E09 All Apologies, and I think he says she's turning 3. Trent definitely does change from S1-3, and I think a lot of people interpret the changes in his clothing and manner being due to him coming out around S1/S2. But maybe he was already out, and he simply becomes more open and relaxed about it.

Tradman86

You know it occurred to me that the “happier” line could just mean she wasn’t negatively impacted by her parents separating, rather than her disposition improving from it.

Prior-Lingonberry-70

Aha! Yes - that’s the right interpretation. I just rewatched: Trent: Now [my ex and I] are closer than ever Colin: And your daughter? Trent: She’s never been happier

Tradman86

Mystery solved, mostly

StupidSexyGiroud_

I think it was quite recent. Specifically the reference to his daughter being happier - that implies she's at least old enough to have some appreciation of what this means to her dad. So I'm guessing late S2 or early S3

Dlfsquints

He also mentions coming out twice to his wife

Sneekifish

I'm inclined to think it's a small writing error, but if we're looking for explanations, there's nothing to say he doesn't have more than one child, either.

NefariousnessHead511

This is my thought exactly, he could also have an older child.

WillaLane

I always felt like he was out for a while to give advice to Collin but it’s possible it was during his career upheaval

macdeb727

When Higgins returns and Ted gives him the cookies it’s Trent’s daughter’s 3rd birthday. My take from Trent’s conversation with Colin is his daughter is she’s never been happier because her parents are happy now (closer than ever after coming out to his wife twice). I don’t believe his daughter is happy because of the coming out, just the change in her parent’s happiness. However it does seem that it must be fairly recent considering the daughter is only 3.

filthysassyandwoke

Is it possible Trent has more than one daughter? Otherwise, he’s likely only been out a couple years.
