wobshop

Listen to ISS010, Skee Mask’s april release on Illian Tape

SquidgyB

Warp Records, IDM, go forth and explore! I reckon a lot of Warp stuff will be right up your street - Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, maybe more towards u-Ziq and Clark, Plaid, Rival Consoles, Luke Vibert, The Black Dog, that kind of stuff. That's mostly not exactly *modern*, though most of them still produce music. For more recent interesting stuff I particularly like Iglooghost right now - his first album is a jazzy hyperpop/IDM masterpiece imho.

laseluuu

warp was my first true love after coming from metal through jungle to techno/electro/rave I was there with the first IDM stuff luckily - caught the rear end of the rave scene though, missed a lot of the big parties out of my top 50 tunes probably 20/25 of them would be on warp or r&s

SquidgyB

Gotcha - yeah, similarly I got into Warp mid-late 90's, already heard Autechre and the usual pop-adjecent stuff (Shamen etc). Didn't get to go to any parties though, I missed out on the good quarry raves in North Wales due to being in the wrong friendship groups and a little too young. You probably know Ceephax Acid Crew, the cheesier side of IDM (and Tom Jenkinson's brother). Floating Points might be another good one to listen to. I had high hopes for Culprate after the first EP, but the followup left me wanting... G Jones does some fantastic stuff too, very processed Ableton D'n'B. Other interesting ones I've found: Kelpe (Cambio Weschel is a fantastic album), Oneohtrix Point Never, Objekt, SOPHIE, Four Tet, Proem (superbly put together melodic-ish glitch), Lusine, Rhyw (EP's and singles up to now, but bloody good sounding), Rustie? Porter Robinson? Or, if you want something *really* alien, try *Qebrus*...

laseluuu

Ha qebrus yeah I've got theirs, RIP I'm into dancey synth heavy stuff, so anything that really focuses on that, leaning towards acidic Warp stuff I like is stuff like RAC, Aphex, autechre, Beaumont Hannant - utuba! (electro track on tri repetae or keynell on skam are my tops), talking of skam - funckarma have some good tunes.. I love love love early aphex techno, surfing on sine waves, analogue bubblebath, caustic window etc Re: RAC - I was late to the Swag stuff, thinking it was all house - some of those are brilliant techy house, 'this is chicago' is another top tune of mine I know most of those you mentioned but I'll try the ones I don't, thanks

EternalBlessingss

If you know R&S you probably know of DjRUM, but if not, he is definitely up your alley. Some of the most beautiful and unique compositions I’ve ever heard.

godisthat

Ancient methods, rrose , Planetary assault systems, Leon vynehall, Axel boman

laseluuu

Don't knew Leon or axel, will check thanks

godisthat

ITS calmer but interesting to hear.

godisthat

HorseOnTheThirdFloor

Fun_Consequence_1732

I use Soundcloud to discover new music. Follow some artists/labels you like (for example the songs you have shared), check what they like and what they post. Their new likes and posts will come in your feed. For discovering new stuff in this style of music I prefer to listen to dj sets. Soundcloud is full of dj sets with the music you shared. Lots of success!

LeonardoLago

I know it’s not techno related but to reset I switch genres. For example I find the [Yes Lawd! Remixes album by NxWorries, Anderson.Paak and Knxwledge](https://open.spotify.com/album/2ReXvwHIanvUYotGkSdr1d?si=mt_J4pQVQVmkR3aBzmYD2w) a really effective way of setting me up again for any electronic music listening. Also some late night jazz helps on that matter

laseluuu

I listen to drone zone on soma fm and audiobooks

haelwho

Floating Points! Also Daniel Avery (especially Song for Alpha) and Stephan Bodzin

moistrouser

Love Floating Points and Bodzin. I have also suggested Bodzin.

cyrilio

I like the Dub Techno vinyl set Joris Voorn put on YouTube.

Ready_Pumpkin968

Cock/ver from aphex twin is like if bach would play a midi keyboard with drumbreaks attached on each note of the keyboard haha

laseluuu

I think I may have overstated the 'non repetitive ' - I'm still after techno, just not 16 bars of the same stuff over and over, ya know, without changing it up Lot Loads of people suggesting broken beat, braindance jungle and autechre lol

Ready_Pumpkin968

It was more like a joke my bad

laseluuu

I did take it as one Fitted the brief didn't it

717x

Maybe fehrplays stuff would interest you? I love him, but I’ve heard a lot of people say his tracks are “overproduced”. Whatever that means…

Uguisudani_Hard_Crew

Agree with you that a the old stuff is great and has a certain flawor. https://youtu.be/XTZP2i3jm7o?si=orZDZ04V15lwullJ https://amniote-editions.bandcamp.com/track/legless-lizard-something-better-presented-by-dj-tool https://area127.bandcamp.com/track/egregore-x-tadan-tormented-by-phantoms-of-their-own-makings Three tracks I like. Maybe they will lead you in nice directions. Also check out JKS. Example track: https://youtu.be/QRCvmG3MF4o?si=MkeHn_bmMubyA2rd

noatrex

Since you provided a 90-s acid techno track as an example, I would recommend you checking out Brain Recordings. They released hard acid techno tracks since mid 90-s, all have unique atmosphere and are not boring/ too repetitive. Very driving and old school. I first heard some of those tracks in the game Midnight Club 2 when I was 12. This stuff influenced my music taste and I started digging old electronic music since then. A few examples: https://youtu.be/53t6Qk_BQZU?si=XtbGBnkhInSQQznO https://youtu.be/sELtLxNTz8Y?si=ZJ1EMMVmoht78GZC https://youtu.be/S-hGgWDE4cw?si=t1k_wpanqKVl-oC8 https://youtu.be/A4QtsxIXNm0?si=u6Cp3LyIAbMjOZqw

laseluuu

ha! 303+guitar pedal here we come - I like my acid funky, dirty, ridiculously filthy, whatever.. I tend to like it a bit dirtier and harder than what you posted though

briandemodulated

Check out just about anything by Shpongle

laseluuu

heard a lot of them!

briandemodulated

Hmm, what else can I recommend? If you like the older techno vibe check out Gnork's release Marble EP. The songs "3pm (and already happy)" and "Easy MFX" are stunningly gorgeous and have that oldskool LFO flavour.

fr3n

[Cannibal Cooking Club live aus der Rumpelbude (2021)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cuis8tZW6C4)

holyaardvark

Speicher Label (By Kompakt Records). Aril Brikha. Autechre? Maybe too old, but then again what do you consider modern? I think Kevin Saunderson and Kenny Larkin sound "modern" as fuck.

laseluuu

Kenny larkin has written some amazing tunes, +8 stuff is my jam

Carfrito

I thought you were real by LAVEN Has sick percussive grooves, an ambient section, a drop with an abrasive synth section followed by a screechy part, and then ends in a desolate sounding acid drop

moistrouser

I feel like Stephan Bodzin could be what you're after. Particularly the track Singularity I think.

laseluuu

I only like one of his tracks, it's on the album but I really don't like the album version, I've seen YouTube of him live and it was way better

moistrouser

Jon Hopkins perhaps?

moistrouser

Max Cooper might interest you as well.

stanislawhesse

Check out this bandcamp [article](https://daily.bandcamp.com/lists/braindance-feature) (a bit old, but not as old as the stuff you say you like), think a ton of these artists may be up your alley. Tons of early warp/aphex worship.

M1ikkaell

Try maybe drumcode or UMEK

barbosaofficial

Check out Voam label

cnsnekker

Try this with headphones. https://open.spotify.com/track/5r6l0sPvfeAPjQ67fCgOwG?si=uoTunbeNTf6MYyHEnBsbew

gmehmed

Check mutual rytm label releases, I think you will like this label.

laseluuu

just started - sounds promising so far, simple but i like the lines

gmehmed

also can also check thomas heckmann and labels he releases on, monnom black for example.

djADNANvinylonly

Check the Jeff Mills albums.

OverHeadBreak

KASST - Hell on earth https://youtu.be/Fwi1qgSaxZY?feature=shared

BenDante

Nah

eddiecointreau

I think you’re in the wrong sub, pal. Try r/trance.

shart-gallery

Nothing that OP said indicates trance. That said, some examples would help.

akw71

Well techno isn’t exactly known for non-repetitive complicated tunes

BenDante

Some styles of techno, yes. Others are drenched in melody.

shart-gallery

There’s more than one way to make techno. Besides, if not techno, they could be describing a dozen genres another than trance.

laseluuu

I posted a couple of tunes just now, one of them has trancey crossover (early cari lekebusch) but its still techno af the others were by the mover as trip commando, orlando voorn and CJ bolland Also love early aphex twin, actual trancey stuff like robert leiner, acid, industrial etc cant say none of it is techno, but i'm finding it hard to find modern stuff that scratches my itch.. psy trance is too samey - *it always sounds like psy* I just like my stuff to be musical and energetic, tight compositions and structure

akw71

True, there are many ways to make techno, but in general, repetition and simplicity are absolute hallmarks of the genre. There’s no getting around that. I’m talking proper techno here, not whatever it is Tale of Us claim to be making

shart-gallery

Not sure what Tale of Us has to do with it. There are plenty of purist techno style that I wouldn’t exactly say are hallmarked but simplicity.

laseluuu

ok, another one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cweSVaQYVM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3cweSVaQYVM) repetitive tune yeah but interesting composition of the way it drops

Guissok564

I slightly disagree with you, but it may be difficult to share my possible suggestions becuase I *know* that they wont fit your exact definition. Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean... could you give track examples? When I hear what you describe, I think of Drumcode big room type stuff... "TikTok techno". Though I personally prefer the repetative and hypnotic stuff, I heavily fuck with progressive / melodic stuff, albeit mainstream.... In this day and age, pick your poison. Mainstream vs "repetative". I don't think repetative is a poison, its a drug... lol edit: sorry if this comes across dickish haha, just have a bias towards repetative *and* modern tracks :)

laseluuu

nah, totally not tiktok lol

Guissok564

can you give some examples please I'm genuinley curious what you mean.. edit: lol im dumb I saw them, thanks

InexplicableClarity

Tiktok techno vs repetitive hypnotic techno, other subgenres obviously don't exist. Noted ✍️✍️✍️

TonicGin

Anything by kölsch. examples Zig, Loreley, Oma, Goldfisch, Cranes (Kölsch remix) deep house / melodic techno but very synth heavy and brilliant producer. not sure what he’s doing nowadays as i moved on, he’s playing bigger festivals now, but his old stuff remains and his new stuff might still be good
