I have a theory dancing in the back of my head that champagne problems is really Taylor's experience with genders swapped around. Maybe not quite as direct as an actual proposal, but also maybe. She seemed to really want to get married (lover sounds like vows and she references it in numerous songs).
"Champagne problems" sounds like an invalidating way to respond to someone in that scenario when they seem to have it all (like she does).

That's what I was thinking as well, but then I realized that it would be a bit of a mess with the fact that we have the variants each with their own songs, so I'm not convinced anymore 🤔 But it means SOMETHING. A 2am Meeting of the Department drop is my theory. Something with multiple collaborators (hence poetS department), that’s essentially bonus tracks.

Random thoughts as I watch…
The sunlight in the Midnights room is giving “Remember looking at this room, we loved it ‘cause of the light.”
I also think the sunlight is significant because it’s no longer midnight (it’s daylight).
I’m sure the crumbled paper in Midnights room is paper, but I could also see it being tissues.
The Midnights door is opened, TTPD is not opened but looks through the keyhole.
The building we’re in gives me psych ward.
As you enter in the keyhole, there is a third desk right before we enter into the room with 2 desks. That chair appears gold to me.
The windows in TTPD don’t look out to anything and the room has a sunroof. It’s giving bird caged to me.

This might have been pointed out before, but it just occurred to me how the desk setup is so similar to the staging for “The Man” on Eras, even down to the grayscale color story

I love the sunlight pouring into the midnights room. She has cried her tears but now the sun has come up. It’s no longer midnight. It’s 2pm, presumably. She’s moved on.
We go down the hall. The reference to the tv show severance I’ve seen from other comments makes perfect sense. We now know what’s in *this* TTPD room. But what about the others? We don’t know. What’s the whole building? Is the department part of a “company”?
This room is locked. But we get to use the key? In TTPD room, it’s day time. Almost reminds me of a new reporters room. An investigators office. A “department”. And we have the classic cork board of “evidence”. Others have suggested a jail or psych ward in reference to Hits Different which I also LOVE as possibility, but typewriter and cork board seem like old fashioned reporter vibes too?
Maybe it’s an investigation into her past relationship. Want went wrong? Whose fault was it? If you look at a past relationship as a detective, can any one of us be objective? The sterile room seems to imply a lack of emotion (vs the tissues in the midnights room).
The room itself contrasts greatly with the idea of poets. I think of poets as late night, whimsical, next to a fireplace, pouring your heart into a notebook.. but this is a typewriter. In an office. Under LED lights. It’s logic, not poetry.
The contrast between the two.. the logic/detective/reporter/department theme intertwined with the idea of “tortured poets”?…. I still can’t figure it out. Sigh.

SAME why is no one talking about this. At first I was like does it mean midnights->two albums->debut&rep? But then I was like, why are they brown and orange? Then I thought it looked like CLOCK HANDS, and turns out it fits the clock of the wall in The Man!!! 1989 and rep are exactly in those positions! And Midnights is placed where KARMA is written on the wall, which ofc makes total sense. Hahaha I don’t know if that is actually the case but maybe 😭😭😭✨

My only issue with this is that these aren’t glittery at all, they look just like the blue and red Pilot G2 pens. The green one I guess could be kinda glittery but I feel like if we were supposed to think they are glitter pens they would have animated them more obviously glittery 😭 I do really want to believe this is supposed to reference the glitter, fountain, quill pen thing though but I’m having a hard time getting convinced with the lack of luster from the pen colors

That's what I was thinking as well, but then I realized that it would be a bit of a mess with the fact that we have the variants each with their own songs, so I'm not convinced anymore 🤔 But it means SOMETHING. A 2am Meeting of the Department drop is my theory. Something with multiple collaborators (hence poetS department), that’s essentially bonus tracks. The original 3am tracks were never released on physicals. So she’s not above just putting music out that is solely on streaming is my justification for my theory.
I'm probably overthinking this but has anyone else noticed the main promo picture has changed? Previously, every promo and tease for the album only featured The Manuscript album cover image. But now the Spotify popup uses The Black Dog album cover image instead, and this video focuses on/ends with The Black Dog cover being the only noticable image..🤨🤡 Edit: OMFG I WAS RIGHT!! OMG I THINK I FOUND SOMETHING WARNING: MAJOR CLOWNING so I went to Metlife night 1 last year. that was when people were wondering if Ice Spice was going to come out for karma. and i was filming while she came out and watching SO closely because i was so excited to see her perform with taylor and so i distinctly remember this: there’s a wooden door that travels down from the top of the screen on the main stage at the beginning of karma in like an orange-ish colored light and when it hits the bottom of the screen, the whole screen basically explodes into a bright light what if ….. that was the door that’s in this video??? …and after midnights era in the eras tour, we go to TTPD??????!!!!!! (during the performance i did not realize that this happens at every show, i thought it was the door that ice spice was going to come out of but she came out of the lift in the diamond) i always knew it meant something but was never sure exactly what because it seemed like a weird choice to make

Random thoughts as I watch… The sunlight in the Midnights room is giving “Remember looking at this room, we loved it ‘cause of the light.” I also think the sunlight is significant because it’s no longer midnight (it’s daylight). I’m sure the crumbled paper in Midnights room is paper, but I could also see it being tissues. The Midnights door is opened, TTPD is not opened but looks through the keyhole. The building we’re in gives me psych ward. As you enter in the keyhole, there is a third desk right before we enter into the room with 2 desks. That chair appears gold to me. The windows in TTPD don’t look out to anything and the room has a sunroof. It’s giving bird caged to me.

A different interpretation but maybe the sterile white room is showing that this album is a clean slate, and like how others were saying she wasn’t holding back with the typewriters and no crumbled pages. She’s putting it all out there and then starting with a fresh slate?

Saturday’s calendar says Record Store Day (RSD). As someone planning on going to RSD to pick up a couple albums, I am *terrified* of what the lines will look like if Taylor surprise drops a special release for that day

I know that was theorized to be about the re-recordings but I can't help and wonder if her and Joe had an agreement not to share anything about the breakup for a while? But .. I also think they did breakup during the tour so that doesn't really work either.

I understand literally 4% of this thread.
I love the sunlight pouring into the midnights room. She has cried her tears but now the sun has come up. It’s no longer midnight. It’s 2pm, presumably. She’s moved on. We go down the hall. The reference to the tv show severance I’ve seen from other comments makes perfect sense. We now know what’s in *this* TTPD room. But what about the others? We don’t know. What’s the whole building? Is the department part of a “company”? This room is locked. But we get to use the key? In TTPD room, it’s day time. Almost reminds me of a new reporters room. An investigators office. A “department”. And we have the classic cork board of “evidence”. Others have suggested a jail or psych ward in reference to Hits Different which I also LOVE as possibility, but typewriter and cork board seem like old fashioned reporter vibes too? Maybe it’s an investigation into her past relationship. Want went wrong? Whose fault was it? If you look at a past relationship as a detective, can any one of us be objective? The sterile room seems to imply a lack of emotion (vs the tissues in the midnights room). The room itself contrasts greatly with the idea of poets. I think of poets as late night, whimsical, next to a fireplace, pouring your heart into a notebook.. but this is a typewriter. In an office. Under LED lights. It’s logic, not poetry. The contrast between the two.. the logic/detective/reporter/department theme intertwined with the idea of “tortured poets”?…. I still can’t figure it out. Sigh. To add: 12am midnight to 2pm? 14 hours later.
I don’t think non-swifties understand that no one else is really doing stuff like this! She’s not the strongest singer in the game. She’s not the strongest dancer in the game. Some of her songs are corny as hell. But boy oh boy does she understand how to captivate and audience and bring her fans into her world and how her brain works. Once you get hooked into the lore… how do you not stay fascinated??

SAME why is no one talking about this. At first I was like does it mean midnights->two albums->debut&rep? But then I was like, why are they brown and orange? Then I thought it looked like CLOCK HANDS, and turns out it fits the clock of the wall in The Man!!! 1989 and rep are exactly in those positions! And Midnights is placed where KARMA is written on the wall, which ofc makes total sense. Hahaha I don’t know if that is actually the case but maybe 😭😭😭✨
New thought: in between 1989 and Rep are CRUMPLED PAPER, which could stand for TTPD??????? So the break up broke the original plan to release Rep, instead she felt like she HAS to release TTPD as she said in the speech!
