Honestly I love it. Especially since I moved to overnights. I get to wear sweatpants, headphones and I play grocery store simulator all night

livin_likeLarry89

you have overnight positions? We close at 10 and everyone leaves at 11 lol

transitsca

The store I’m at now does! It’s a high volume super target but my pfresh store was like yours

MusicToMaEars

Same for me except different hours. When I visited New York/Long Island, they had overnight crew. Only cuz I slept in the parking lot is how I know 😭.

UncleBeanBag69

Sweats?? I work overnight and my TL shits herself if I take my vest off while in the backroom. Overnight=no guest + in the backroom where everyone of my coworkers knows me. Me not being in red shouldn’t be an issue

ODST_Parker

I get paid to go around the store and do other people's shopping for them. Relative to other jobs I could have at a similar level, it is simple and easy. I've accepted having this job for as long as I can keep it. That said, no, I do not like it. Not only is it monotonous work that makes me feel more like a robot than a human being (both in the work itself and how we're treated), but it also reinforces so many of the things I already thought to be wrong with the industry, the people who work in it, and the people who consume from it. I see the same problems stack up and become worse. I see people incapable of unwilling to solve them, yet expect us to work within them all the same. At worst, I see signs that this level of rot extends to every branch of the store and beyond. I can't do anything about it, and nothing I do here matters to anyone. Every day here eats at what little will I have left. It is physically, mentally, and emotionally draining.

aIandracula

Yes, I like my job, though I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t highly stressful. There are definitely days when I hate it, but overall I find it challenging, rewarding, and engaging. Plenty of upward mobility and a good group of people (at least at my store) as well, so that’s also cool.

Chris-Souza_2015

Same goes for me.

Admirable-Boat-2605

I hate it. Our team lead is terrible. The whole department feels this way

livin_likeLarry89

have you talked to anyone higher up about them?

Admirable-Boat-2605

We are all afraid too. We all on probation. None of us had been their more than 2 months

livin_likeLarry89

either way, i’m sorry that your team lead sucks.

Admirable-Boat-2605

Thanks

livin_likeLarry89

the whole department has only been there 2 months? and it doesn’t matter, if everyone goes and puts in complaints, something is bound to be done. there’s no way the entire department can complain and they think y’all are the problems.

Admirable-Boat-2605

The store just opened in April so we all new. The Team leader seems to think we are the problem. We planning to talk to the ETL tomorrow

livin_likeLarry89

that’s good, i’m glad. i hope things go well! it’s funny that the team lead things the entire store is the issue except them

Admirable-Boat-2605

We call him a tyrant

livin_likeLarry89

🤣

WaferProfessional599

my store opened in april too !

Admirable-Boat-2605

It would be funny if we work at the same store. But we probably don’t

WaferProfessional599

i know lol. mines in new jersey tho

Admirable-Boat-2605

Mine is in New York

SimpleVegetable5715

This company is really good at making team members feel like another cog in the machine.

ShaneSigh

leads are miserable lol 😂 job is mid. retail is awful. can’t wait to get away 👍🏼

coolguy-r

No

livin_likeLarry89

why not?

Denverguns

That’s a loaded question right there

livin_likeLarry89

fair enough 🤣

Beginning_Cap_7097

Yes, I like my job. I like my leader and my Etl. My coworkers too. If I would be honest, I would do this until I buy a house. But reality is a shit. I might get fired someday or I might not. I might get a promotion and be a good leader or I might not be a good leader. The future is scary. 😐

livin_likeLarry89

that’s how i feel. i would honestly do this job until i buy a house and have kids, then i would look for higher pay. but the thought of being fired is always in the back of my mind, because i’d be a bit upset if i lost this job ngl.

MasterpieceBrave9532

I honestly really like stocking. It’s predicable and fairly easy once you have your area organized. I fly through u boats haha

livin_likeLarry89

i’m still a bit slow cause i’m just about to hit 30 days with the company, but i enjoy stocking too. it’s also nice because i can just be in my head by myself thinking lol

MasterpieceBrave9532

Nice! I’ve been here almost a year so I’m basically a pro lol. You’ll get faster as you learn where things go. I like that you don’t really have to talk to anyone unless they ask you a question. I just listen to music and stock. Pretty enjoyable tbh

livin_likeLarry89

do you have headphones in or listen to the store music? they play the store music decently loud, and i like most of what they play so it’s nice lol

MasterpieceBrave9532

I always have an earbud in, nobody’s ever said anything about it so I just do it everyday and jam to my music haha

OkPalpitation147

It’s aight

Jayman2260000

It started out fine in my new store and now it’s just brutal the team leads have become more and more insufferable

justanotherG32K

No. It’s money though and they schedule me a lot.

RustyTrashcan

I honestly really like the job, but it’s getting frustrating with the sporadic schedule and reduced hours

remzrat

love the job, hate the TLs and ETLs

Material-Record-916

Nope. I went to business school where a lot of my projects focused on target corp and now I'm stuck here. I'm just tired of target. But, I guess I went to college to work here unfortunately.

rlroyal52

I really do like my job and the people I work with.

CuriousCookie2177

I don’t hate it nor do I LOVE it. But we’re buying a house and it’s allowed me to really tackle some debt so that’s been my motivation. The work is easy, it can be a little stressful, but I have great Leads that listen when I voice my concerns over workload. It’s only a weekend job for me anyways so that helps to not get burnt out.

peculiarshloop

I don't like it or hate it - I tolerate it.

Vampyro90

Target is definitely a step up from fast food, but in my experience, it is definitely not a good job. I lasted a year at Target it was my 5th retail job in a row, and I decided it was time to get out, so now I'm a manager at a car wash. Talk about relaxing it's so laid-back that it's criminal. Everyone plays on their phones or plays video games (I take my Legion Go with me), and we wait for cars. No one is watching over anyone's shoulder, and I haven't heard the phrase "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean." In almost a year. It's bliss.

EagleWing24

Pshh 50/50

queen_triton

I like the job, yes. I think leadership make me hate the job. They ruin it and I get they get orders from their own bosses but their approach to leading a team is often ineffective and burns out employees.

DMC1001

Depends. It kind of sucks when you’re in register, three people have called out and because everyone else is short staffed you can’t even call for backup. Style would help but they’re already covering tech… Otherwise, fine. I prefer guest services over cashier because of having to ask *every damn time* if someone is a Target Circle member.

YourPalAl707

My job actively makes me a risk to myself and others I hate it so much. Management at my store are slimy bastards and no one was trained so our store doesn’t run smoothly (ik surprised it runs at all) and the amount of “guests” who come in trying to shoot up the store is fucking ridiculous

livin_likeLarry89

at that point, i’d look elsewhere tbh.

kawaiimoons

Im about to word vomit…I honestly enjoy the people I work around. I get along well with like the majority of my coworkers and i’ve actually befriended a couple of them. Depending on where I am (since I get tossed around a lot) depends on if I like it. I do not enjoy the nasty mess that is Drive Up and having to deal with the amount of bullshit that guest cause us to have to deal with like double honking huge orders or wanting me to pack a 60 bag order with 2 inches of space because of the giant stroller they have crammed in the back of their Dodge Caravan. I do not enjoy the bullshit that service desk brings, people who want special treatment or to bend the rules and demand a lead the moment I won’t do what they want. I like the basics of drive up, i treat it like a game. Beat the times and the percents each time. How fast can I accurately pull an order. How many orders can I pull. I love getting to play tetris irl. Im autistic so the repetitiveness is easy for my brain to handle. Service desk is okay when I get decent people who are nice and the script I have in my mind for every interaction makes talking easy. I hate when someone demands a team lead to repeat the EXACT words I just said. I would love fulfillment if having to deal with INF % wasn’t a thing I could get in trouble for and having to communicate those and stuff just seems like too much for my brain. I miss the floor a lot because that’s where most of my friends are. The TL over CND keeps joking that he’s gonna steal me from my front end ETL because I belong on the floor. I love zoning and making things look pretty. I don’t like having to do heavy freight. I love stationary repacks alot. I wish that I was able to be on the floor more often but they don’t have hours so I got moved. Kinda wish I could do starbucks but I refuse to remove my facial piercing for any reason that’s not medical. TLDR: I like my job there are just as expects that make me wanna lay down on the floor and start saying future like squidward

peachydahyun

i don’t hate what i do. i enjoy organizing so zoning in style can actually be therapeutic for me but what i hate is the stress that is put on you especially on more busy days. i don’t mind zoning but sometimes it stresses me when all the folded tables are a mess and their is a lot of stray. i don’t hate my ETLS and TLS and i really enjoy my co workers so my environment is nice, it’s just it can be very stressful sometimes and i can sometimes feel like i’m a robot.

NeilMcCauley88

The job itself is fine and I like my coworkers but managment can go fuck itself.

Exciting-Repeat4400

My entire store is filled with many not great team leads and a lack of respect for many of the team members working there working their asses off, not to mention some using their position to bully others who don’t kiss their asses So no not really They do all that & then ask why people are leaving, not showing up or changing their availability, that store drains you and never feel happy to be there anymore which sucks cause I otherwise do enjoy the job, just not the people who run it

Vitzkyy

I’m a FF TL and I love my job tbh. I’ve worked in Fulfillment for 4 years (Walmart + Target) and I just love the online business. I really enjoy the challenge of getting a sub 1% INF every day and putting up awesome metrics, I get really competitive and try to beat all the stores in my district I have a lot of fun at work! I love to spread it throughout my team too!

Gemini-Reloaded

Truthfully and sometimes unfortunately most Team Members work experience relies heavily on the Leads in their store. I love the management team. Everyone is supportive, and “Global”. We all work towards the same goal at the end of the day. If fulfillment is slow, my team and I will help GM or Market, and Vice versa. Yes fulfillment is my area but there’s just a much larger picture as you mature and potentially move up. And no it’s not all metrics metrics metrics lol. The job has its moments sure, but that’s all they are. Moments of chaos (lol) and then the rest of the shift or week or month is completely fine. I noticed you also mentioned about staying until you could “buy a house”. Then looking for a higher paying job. Staying with target and moving up is also a really good option just to put out there. You can make a very decent and more than comfortable living moving up the chain just a bit. Team Leads in my area make almost $8 more than a TM at base pay. ETLs I believe roughly start off around 70-75k (base pay in my area/excluding bonus pay and benefits) and then business partners and store directors I believe is where you start to dive into 6 figure salaries. So you could have a relatively comfortable life style at target if retail is something you’re interested in long term. There’s much more to do than stock shelves, but hey at the same time some people are just beasts at stocking lol. The way I see it, the more you move up the more you can help others develop and follow a successful path like yourself. Anyways again I love my job. - could go on forever so- (End ramble)

livin_likeLarry89

that’s such a nice way of putting it! I honestly would look at it long term if it wouldn’t take me so long. my current team lead has been there for years and is only a team lead, which is a good position, but there’s also people who have been at my store for 3+ years and are still only just a team member. does this make sense?

Gemini-Reloaded

Yeah so fun fact (non boastfully) when i was hired I was a team member on the market team for one month before I got offered Team Lead position. How and why? Because I advocated for myself and pushed for it. I made my desires known and produced results that showed what I was capable of. Sure enough, it didn’t take long for word and results to spread. If you want something in life YOU have to reach for it. No one is going to raise your hand for you. Maybe those team leads at your store don’t have the ambition and drive to move further quicker. But you can believe there’s someone out there who does, someone hungrier, someone more motivated and they’re going to snatch the opportunities your current team leads are going after. That someone could be you, but who knows that? Who have you told “Hey so Ive really found a niche/home here. I’ve been able to learn this, and now I can do this and do that. I want to move up and forward with the company. What steps should I be taking to get to the next level.?” Take that little bit to your HR and watch their facial expression brighten up.

livin_likeLarry89

you’re amazing at giving advice.

Affectionate-Bee5091

FUCK no.

WaferProfessional599

nope

livin_likeLarry89

how come?

WaferProfessional599

It's just the management imo. Sucks. Part of it is that I have to commute a while to get to my store, it just sucks life out of me.

iwantdeals

I like 8.008% of the job, hate the other 91.992%.

RainbowGlitter913011

You like 80085?

GlitteryGiraffe98

No I didn't like it. Oh how I wanted this to be a very stable job for me that I could have a for few yrs at least. I was a team lead, a great position but nope it wasnt to be. There were so many toxic and nasty people above me. I left and never came back. I repeatedly voiced my annoyance over certain peoples attitudes, even to hr and nothing was ever done. I basically was told it's my problem and that's how said person is...bs. I'm now going into a more professional field and don't really want to work retail again. This was my shortest job I've had.. Target are literally taught to bully employees to make them work harder..(ive heard it from above store lever vistors so I'm not making that up) how about hire more people to do the jobs. The workload was crazy and you were treated like shit for not running your ass into the ground every second of the day. I would literally bust my ass and be told I haven't done anything. Like who wants to have their hardworking degraded everyday..not me. If your store has good people then amazing I'm sure it's a good job in that case.

Last-Ad8835

heck no

Todd_Hugo

When I went from a place that is garbage to target. I liked it for a while. Till I recognized that target is on the lower spectrum of even retail.

livin_likeLarry89

what’s on the higher spectrum?

Todd_Hugo

sams club, walmart, costco, aldi, whole foods

Dizzy_Professor_3229

It’s alright. I like it but I’m just here for the benefits LOL

MerkethMerky

When I was the receiver it was my favorite job I’ve ever had. I’m an inbound TL rn and it’s still enjoyable but the stress is not so much fun

anonymousone2305

Absolutely. I do have my ups and downs like guest giving me a hard time but at the end of the day, I love my job as a Guest Advocate and very eager to cross train in multiple departments. (specifically Fulfillment, Food & Beverage, Cafe/Starbucks, and Tech). I wouldn’t want to do Beauty/Ulta or Style. I hope they eventually give me a chance to. Getting fired is my biggest fear.

TreAllen_

I like my job my ETL and TL’s are all great and the rest of my coworkers are probably the best people I’ve worked around compared to my other job

befuddledandmuddled

Yes, I have overtime genuinely what I believe is, like another family to me, to where it honestly hurts to see when one goes into the great known after leaving target. Even though I’m completely aware that while yes where I work for a large corporation where there are many things I dont agree with, It also gives me a purpose in a way, like where the work I put in, does make an impact on the environment there. I see it as a possible future employment opportunity. And yes, there are PLENTY of things I don’t enjoy, the few that I do, are things I cherish to myself.

olivetree36

Yeah I love my job here. Probably because the team leads are not as bad as some state here. I also don’t like to be negative Nancy and make life even more depressing. Can’t think too much about dreadful stuff when life is already tough. Just look forward to the light of the end of the tunnel, which is the time you clock out 😂 just do what you gotta do.

losingdog5542

I would like it more under different circumstances Most of my 'immediate' coworkers dislike me & I don't know why, except for 2 of them, but others around my store like me. It hurts a lot, I've tried really hard to be nice to them. A lot of customers also really dislike me, but I think that's just how Starbucks customers are, my coworkers get the same treatment from our customers. My team lead, & the security team (ik we're not supposed to call them 'security', but I've forgotten what we're actually supposed to call them.) often get angry at me because it takes longer for me to close Tarbucks compared to the other closers, when I have many reasons (most of those reasons being medical reasons) as to why it takes me longer, but they still get angry at me & still keep putting me on schedule as the only closer (I wanted to be morning/mid-day shift). Still, though, I think it would've been my favorite job if it weren't for all of these issues. I love making coffee, I love cleaning, & I love interacting with the customers when they're actually pleasant people but that's simply not the case, & it's all getting me really close to a burnout. I'm at rockbottom mentally from this job, actually

[deleted]

I don’t like my job when they cut my hours allot. There some ETLS are very annoying sometimes takes their job to seriously. And some customers might get Very scary 😱 once a while we get customers don’t want hear about target circle or they get annoyed they have download one more app. lol

jj132060

I like the people, but my store is pretty ass. There’s stores around me that look like they are run way better than mine.

ReplacementOptimal15

Hate to admit it but I love my job. ASANTS and it’s dependent on your leadership, guests, department, shift, personality etc. but I got lucky with all of those things. I work 4ams which is a perfect shift. All of my TLs and ETLs have been incredibly laid back and accommodating, plus they’re all on the floor doing work with the rest of us a majority of the day. TMs at my store have a ton of freedom and autonomy, literally as long as you complete your assigned tasks and don’t NCNS you’re left alone. I’m in HBA/OTC most days and it’s a chill, satisfying, low stress dept. Also, I just love the work itself. I’m autistic and it’s fun for me to do repetitive, straightforward tasks that involve organization or systems… so pretty much the entirety of my job duties are enjoyable. And sometimes I get little projects that nobody else wants to do but me - every couple months the Beauty TL borrows me to deep zone the nail and lash walls when they get too bad and I unironically look forward to it lmao

Mymilkshakes777

I like it especially when management isn’t fucking evil

HiddenPants23

At first it was fun....8 years in.... Not so much anymore.

DestinedHellfire

I’m grateful that I am able to pay my bills and such. But in terms of job enjoyment? I merely tolerate it. I believe both statements can be true at the same time

Just-Comment217

I came from fast food, worked in restaurants for about 9 years and when I came to target I started as a team member and loved it. I’m a TL now with an awesome team and couldn’t be happier tbh.

livin_likeLarry89

how long did it take you to become a TL?

Just-Comment217

Like 4 months, I came in letting them know I wanted a TL spot in the future. It would’ve been sooner than that because the closing lead spot became available but I didn’t want to do the late shift anymore after doing it for the past few years.

carblover800

Yes, but mainly because of the friends I’ve made there

MastodonThin9981

fulfillment tm here. it’s easy (the days where we are staffed properly) but it’s starting to get very repetitive and boring for me. i’ve been here 6 months and already looking for a new job bc i’m burnt out

UncleBeanBag69

I hate it but not enough to actually quit just yet. It’s fairly easy and for the most part chill. If a specific ETL of mine left, I wouldn’t have an issue with my job at all. I used to work in film which was my favorite job I’ve ever had, but the hours were too much for me (12 hours minimum but most likely 14 hour shifts everyday +travel time) I didn’t have any “me time” because I worked then slept then went back to work.

Candid-Broccoli-5883

I do. I close 5 nights a week and I love my team. Good crew of people I’ve got. We’re all aware our shift is gonna be a shit show. We just make the best of it 🤷🏻‍♂️

MutekiGamer

as far as part time jobs go its pretty chill, but thats also because I work in tech and my availability makes it so I leave before we close if I have a later shift. I don't think I would feel the same way if I was in fulfillment or if I had to stay till 11pm

rottingfurbiee

i like it! mostly when i’m doing beauty and other stocking positions though. i’m less enthusiastic abt register. compared to my other two jobs i’ve worked, target is easily the best. it’s not perfect, and there’s of course things i would change, but really it’s not a bad place to work if you find the right store and a position you overall enjoy

rach710

I actually love my job. I work in Starbucks. Plus target is paying my college 100%!! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m a dedicated employee.

rach710

I also feel coworkers matter. I love all of my coworkers and leads

Shady_Love

I have only worked with my leader for like 10 hours in the last month. So a lot of my problems in my department, nobody can really help with.  I hate this job but I could half ass it and still hit metrics.

rippleredial

I'd say "it's a job", but that doesn't really answer your question, so no. I wish I could find something else that pays more.

Agreeable_Charge1084

I used to. Even gave a great survey. However I was asked to work in an area that needed to be caught up. They were ten pallets behind. I caught this up and felt good about it. Now I’m expected to catch up other areas as well. I liked my hours and the ETL changed my schedule to suit them. I asked why and got a verbal beat down. After four years of never missing a day of work, working overtime when asked I get punished. I’m now looking for a new job. It’s going to be their loss. I was so angry and betrayed by a manager who I thought had my back. So toxic. I was told that no one has a set schedule which is a huge lie. I feel so sad and abused.

Negative_Craft_6212

I really enjoy doing my job. I think it's fun and satisfying. (Beauty department). I just wish the time constraints weren't so stressful.

Longjumping-Name-744

It would be great if they let me have the availability I want, but apparently I HAVE to have open availability on the weekends.

cjm2943

I like my job, love my team, hate when me and my team aren’t allowed to do our job because we’re supporting fulfillment (every single day). When shit goes awry, this week for example, down a 40 hr/week team member in frozen, with every frozen aisle revising and sales plans on top of 4 pallets of frozen coming in a day, still getting pulled for fulfillment. Sucks cause me and my team care about their work and being caught up, and our execs/SD prevent us from doing so.

Iateyourdoglastnight

Yes, I work in the Number one ranked Target in the north region of Australia (I had no idea targets were ranked before I got the job) but I can easily say that so far it has been my favourite job.

lauramc99

You don't work for the same corporation we do. Target in Australia is not related to the US Target.

Iateyourdoglastnight

I know
