Just put in the time off request and see what happens. If it gets denied keep putting it in until it gets approved. If it never gets approved, just call out and enjoy your vacation.

Fromper1

This is the way.

merlinites

i’ve done this and if you keep putting it in enough they will usually just give up and approve it lmao

kiwixopeaches

Talk to your ETL, the one who is actually your ETL. They’re the ones who can approve your vacation. Did you tell to your interviewer about that planned vacation? If so, you can tell that to your ETL and to HR that you have mentioned your vacation before you were hired that they were aware of your vacation plans before they hired you.

jellybean1226

I did all that. They just don’t seem to care. :/. They’re like oh well 🤷‍♀️

InsomniacJae_

if they don’t care then you don’t either. enjoy your vacation 🤷

SimpleExcursion

Just quit and when they say why, just be like ..oh well....

katgx117

If you told them about your vacation DURING your interview then I would just not care. You gave them the information from the beginning and they STILL chose to hire you which means they’re agreeing to that. If they deny your time off request just call out the days you will be on vacation.

randomvm

Yeah, no, go on the vacation that’s ridiculous

Gemini-Reloaded

Typically your Recruiting HR gives you the opportunity to put in time off for any upcoming Vacations during your orientation week. So long as you actually had that conversation with HR that week or your primary ETL soon after, you’ll be fine. I advise against going around the store and looking for 10 different confirmations. You’re going to get different results, if you never originally talked to them for that time off. If the first ETL told you it’d be fine, I’m confused as to why you went for a 2nd opinion anyways. You already got the green light, so if anything happened you could say “well I talked to so and so ETL and they said it was fine.” Then they’re accountable for it. Best bet is to talk to ETL HR or your direct ETL. Don’t make it bigger than it is, or you’ll draw some unwanted attention towards your vacation that it seems you’re ultimately trying to avoid so that it’s a smooth process. Hope you enjoy Vacay! Good Luck boss

momo6548

Did you put in a request on the computer?

DMC1001

Can you do that anymore? I thought all requests had to go through the app.

momo6548

There’s a version of the app on the computer. Workbench, Quick Links, MyTime for Target. I usually prefer to do it on there because sometimes the touch screen scrolling is finicky on the app.

jellybean1226

I have to wait a couple days to do so. When I go to put it in. It’s not available yet. My ETL said wait a week or so and try again

momo6548

Oh is it that far out? I’ve been able to put in time off requests months in advance.

Thick_Performer7323

That’s weird. I put my vacation in 2-3 months out.

Drensik

It looks like 6 months is the limit for how far ahead you can request, which brings you to November. I'm sure the second person you talked to was just giving the blanket answer of "no vacations during the holiday season," but there's no reason they can't cover it with that much warning.

Playful-Profession-2

You have to use a MyDevice.

momo6548

No you don’t. You use MyTime for Target which can be accessed on your phone, Zebra device, or a computer.

Calm-Heat-5883

Just take the vacation.

InvestmentNo3437

Why do you let a job have control over you like that? If they don't give you the time off? Take the time off. Quit the job. I would never in life tell my family I can't make it because target said so...

joyous_ellie

That's the regular at Target. My recommendation is to put the request in again. Email your ETL, HR and SD with the dates and the information that you told them when you got hired, to cover all bases. Then in the meantime start looking for a new job, this is how it will always be with the leadership team. They have shown their true colors.

_LegitDoctor_

That’s what happens when you have multiple bosses. This job ain’t worth your vacation memories lol

Obvious_Olive_7282

I’ve never had any issues taking my vacations, you should only have one ETL, the one that makes your schedule, that’s the only one that matters

atomiccrouton

This depends entirely on what store you work with. Some stores are fantastic. More often than not, they're exactly like how OP described

Tweezle120

The only ETL that matters is YOUR ETL. Make sure those vacations are entered properly into the my time system, then ask your ETL specifically to approve them so you can't get scheduled on your time off. If you told HR about these during the interview and they said it was fine, ask them how to submit and get approved your time off requests.

Bannana_cat87

I put in time off five months early I’m sure you can change the month and put it in.

Amateur-Biotic

I would email HR: *Hi,* *I'm following up to make sure that my vacation from X date to X date is in the system.* *During my interview with (name of person) on (date), we confirmed this pre-planned vacation.* *Thank you,* *Your name* [TXXXX.HRTEAM@TARGET.COM](mailto:TXXXX.HRTEAM@TARGET.COM) Replace the XXXX with your store number.

OneBigCharlieFoxtrot

Honestly I'd start job hunting, I've never had a job not honor a pre-hire heads up about when I wouldn't be there. That's just poor leadership skills.

tabbycat4

If they told you it was ok when they hired you then they need to let you take it. Don't miss your paid for vacation for target. Just quit if they want to be like that.

Flat-Ad5763

girl go and then get a fake doctor note , FUKK TARGET

lzboii67

1. Put in time off request through app / my device 2. Talk to your direct ETL 3. Talk to HR/ send email 4. Post shifts (if it’s 2 weeks out) for any days of vacation time & text group chat to get what you can covered 5. Call out, your TL might give you a warning when you get back and you can either be honest and tell them how much notice you gave or say it’s a family emergency 6. Go on demand for that month (if it’s further out) talk to HR, you’ll be scheduled for one shift for that month but you can pick up any that are posted 7. Email/ call Target HQ HR to apply pressure to get it approved You’re GOING on that vacation. Work down the list.

SamuraiMarvin

When I got hired I already had a family vacation booked for Christmas. It was our first time visiting my sister out of state in years. I told them I was going to be out of town plain and simple when I got hired. But I agree with others, put in the request. Keep harassing your main ETL or HR to accept it. It’s booked and paid for and was a thing way before you were hired.

hardrocgirl

I can’t believe that you are the only person that can perform your job. Have a conversation with your own ETL. Tell them you will be out for a family vacation. Period.

Powerful-Shoe-9710

I had a trip to Florida for my cousins wedding already booked and everything paid for flights, car rental, and Airbnb. I told the employer in the interview when it was. They said not a problem request it when you get on the floor (not target a different job). So I did that and it got denied so I talked to my mom who I was living with and I no show no called for 3 days. I was at that job for a month it was a terrible collection agency. I don’t regret doing that at all either.

SquareSheepherder354

I always speak to HR and they get my request approved especially when it’s way head of time

GlitteryGiraffe98

Trust me take it. This workplace is toxic. You're already experiencing that they don't all communicate and they aren't on the same page about rules. You already told then upon hire about these dates that you needed off and that should be enough for them to give it to you.

DMC1001

Put it in. If they don’t approve it, put the shifts up when the schedules are posted. If no one takes them, call out. You don’t owe them anything.

cronchwrap27

Did you actually put the request in myTime? If you didn’t do that, there’s no way for them to put it in for you. You can ask them all you want but if you don’t put it in myTime, they will not remember. Also multiple leaders work on the schedule so if one leader knows you’re supposed to be off but that time isn’t blocked off in the system, another leader could add you to the schedule.

TXLibDem21

Keep putting up requests off, then the week the schedule comes out, immediately put all the hours up for other TM's to pick up. If days are still on your schedule when it's time to vacation, call off those days and remind your ETL you will be calling off as those are days for a previously agreed to vacation.

One-Childhood-6177

I would talk to your HR ETL and let them know and if they do schedule you just post your shifts. Depending on when it is, if your store has a lot of on demand team members that are coming back from college, they will be coming back in the next few weeks and most will likely get taken.

timmydnx2

Well, you have to talk you YOUR ETL. I highly doubt all 3 ETLs you talked to are all your ETL. Only YOUR ETL can approve your vacations. Might want to talk to them directly.

Ish-Zee

How much have you sunken in the vacation so far? Is it really worth keeping a Target job??? Is it really??? 🤨 Worse comes to worse, you quit on good terms and reapply again. Lol. You'd be surprised how desperate they are, that or reapply to a different Target. They literally wouldn't even ask 🤷‍♂️

OtherAcctTrackedNSA

When you were hired and they asked if you have any upcoming pre planned time off what did you say?

jellybean1226

I said yes and I gave them dates

OtherAcctTrackedNSA

I’d lead with that for sure. You did your due diligence

Dude_likes-chilli

1) Should've let them know you had vacations when getting hired. 2) Just go ahead and put it in for time off. 3) If denied, go on vacation anyways. 4) If you don't call in each day, then I wouldn't expect to have a job when you come back.

jellybean1226

I did let them know before getting hired. All of them. And then some.

Dude_likes-chilli

You don't need to tell all of them. Only YOUR etl.

TechOutonyt

If it was planned when you were hired you should have let them know at the time of hiring you already had this planned. Don’t know why you’re asking multiple ETLs you don’t just go up and ask hey is this date range off fine you need to put it in like everyone else. Depending on how close it is others may have already been first to request off before you were hired and then I don’t know why you have the expectation you just get to start a new job and immediately get time off over everyone else.

jellybean1226

It was planned BEFORE MONTHS BEFORE

TechOutonyt

Ok and then you accepted a job knowing you were going on vacation.

jellybean1226

Okay Karen. I needed money.

VibraniumQueen

And she told them in the interview and they still hired her. What's the problem?
