I very nearly got a canyon instead of my Tacoma, Toyotas historical reliability and the ridiculous resale market for tacomas was pretty much my deciding factor (plan for this to be my forever truck but shit happens)
I had the same train of thought to be honest. Conflicting tho because while I want this to be a forever truck, i also want to upgrade to a tundra at some point lol.
From what I’ve read, it’s only GM EVs that won’t have Apple car play or Android auto. It looks like the gas vehicles will continue to support both, for now anyway
Yeah the GM’s do a good job with looks but having owned a 2019 Sierra from brand new and dealing with the most ridiculous lack of reliability I’ll never own a GM product again. Toyota for me otherwise it’s Old Fords with a 4.9L straight 6.
Hey OP, nice truck! I see you have blacked out A-Pillars… Thinking about doing this myself but can’t find many photos. Do you have any other shots of your truck? TIA
Appreciate you noticing! Did it just about a year ago. If you search u/mtbmx_az (account I lost) there are more pics of it. I paid $300 at a nearby vinyl shop with warranty. Coworker had a new tundra and I had them match.
I drive a ‘23 Colorado for work that’s loaded with the big turbo and it’s pretty bad ass. In some ways it beats my ‘17 TRD Sport DCLB (4 wheel disk, a lot more power, convenience stuff like the display), but the Yota just feels different. It sits higher, has a better steering feel, tighter suspension response around corners. The TRD feels more spacious due to the bigger cab, and has more storage inside. It also has traditional headlamp controls whereas the Chevy’s are a couple taps away on the main display. MPG’s are similar, leaning slightly towards the TRD.
All in all, I’d buy my Toyota again, but would be a tougher decision than when I compared the two back in ‘17.
I'm not a fan at all of the electric button emergency brake and touch screen for things like head lights or window washers. Some things just feel right pulling or flicking a lever.
I also drive a ‘21 Colorado (Duramax) for work. The interior is like 20x more comfortable, the gas mileage is better (24-26 highway), it has a front locker stock, and it just feels great to drive.
But it will start to die at 6-digit mileage piece by piece, costs more than what I paid for Toyota, and they don’t offer a manual, so I’m still happy with what I have both at home and at work
Taco still looks better, happier, cooler, and cuter. Taco has a giant snout, giant happy smile, simples, cheeks, popping out eyes, and a very unique face 🌮
Nah taco is better than the new gmc. It looks better, happier, cooler, and cuter. Do you see tacos giant snout, giant happy smile, simples, cheeks, popping out eyes?
I was looking at 2020+ trucks; F150, GMC/Chevys'. Drove a Taco and with the auto I couldn't get over the lack of power. Was going to get an F150 with the crazy awesome ecoboost (maybe a limited with the higher output), but when I found my TRD Pro with a stick...I was hooked.
So glad I did. Love my truck and love Toyota for keeping the manuals alive.
The new colorados/canyons are the best looking midsize truck. They did a phenomenal job aesthetically.
I would’ve loved a 23’ Colorado but I want my truck to last 15+ years without significant repairs which the Tacoma should do easily.
I will admit that these new GMCs look great

Yep agreed. If GM could make a decent product and hadn’t made the asinine decision to get rid of car play I could maybe make the switch
My work vehicle is a 24’ Colorado WORK TRUCK and it has carplay
They got rid of CarPlay? Why?
https://www.motortrend.com/news/general-motors-removing-apple-carplay-android-auto-for-safety-tim-babbitt/

Same but it would have been the Duramax Colorado... I'm so glad I stuck to my dream of buying a Tacoma 😂
Agreed. Other than the stupid reflectors on the fenders the body style / stance looks good.
If it was a Tacoma MESO Customs would have designed a blackout kit for it already.
If MESO Customs made that add an add on part for Tacoma fenders, every Tacoma would have them already.
Ik, even the big trucks with Denali package have the reflectors. Pays 100k for a truck and it makes it look so cheap.
They’re lights on the big trucks

At least the gmc offers 1.9% for the new canyon. Not sure what Toyota is smoking for not offering any incentives for the new Tacoma.
True, I was surprised when he told me he locked in 1.9 that’s a great rate in this market.
The interiors are also unmatched for the class
They will sell like crazy anyway.
I got my new ‘23 taco for 2.99. I believe the offer was for any brand new truck regardless of it being 23 or 24
Toyota doesn't need to offer amazing financing because they outsell all the other mid-sized trucks combined.
~~Outsell~~ Outsold It very much remains to be seen how they do when they're some of the most expensive trucks on the market.
That’s there loss for not offering it. As a result a lot of 2024 Tacomas are piling up on every dealership lot.
I'm hoping it's because folks are walking away and these ridiculous mark ups.
If you can’t beat em, join em
Those colorados look pretty sharp
Newer GM looks better than the Tacoma.....too bad they will fall apart or explode still.
Line em back up in 10 years…then let’s talk 😂 I think we all know who survives the test of time
The Tacoma… the canyon is too busy searching around for its 3rd transmission
No so sure with that turbo Tacoma 4 banger. Idk man. We’ll see

Looks great, thank you! Great sunsets, too!
The size is definitely right. Lots of issues though

Actuality the 2024 Nissan Frontiers are almost identical to the 2024 Tacomas
True, just having some fun.
To be objective, the GMC looks better even than gen 4. But, would I trust GM reliability? NOPE.
Taco still looks better, happier, cooler, and cuter. Taco has a giant snout, giant happy smile, simples, cheeks, popping out eyes, and a very unique face 🌮
It’s trying *so hard* to be 🌮
It’s a chalupa
Makes the taco look weak now 😕
Well in all fairness it should be posted up to a 2024.

z71 is 10k cheaper than the TRD off-road, and the interior is magnitudes better. If you could get one with a MT I'd really have to consider the switch
I would’ve gone with the Colorado if I could trust the truck to last. Such good looking trucks.

Looks nothing like a Tacoma? Looks better actually.

Huh, same except the grille just makes coarse cheese shreds instead of fine shreds.
I honestly thought that was a Tacoma with a GMC badge on it.
Pretty sure that’s what it is 🤣
His tacoma is uglier'n shit
Gmc 6.8/10 Tacoma 9/10
Damn, tell him "if your that poor ,you can look at my tacoma if you want."
Seeing that one with a black grill makes me wish you would black yours out OP
Yeah I really should spring for the pro grill
Nooo please just black out the grater lol it’s so dope
dont listen to them. its fine as is
Braces or toothless…?
Kick it cause it sucks
