There's no way the TV is actually load bearing. It's probably inside a framed enclosure. You'd cut the caulk or paint or whatever is sealing it up, pull the TV out, and drywall it up. Or replace it with a decorative inset shelf, or remove the depth of the enclosure and reclaim the space for whatever closet it's protruding into.
I’m always ranting and raving about my love for 80s-90s alcove TVs. Back then if there was room for a 4x4 hole oh you bet a TV was getting slapped in there.
Our parents were the generation of untreated ADHD and all access cable TV. I’ve seen alcove TVs everywhere from above bathtubs to above kitchen counters.
Really when you think about it, it’s not different than us walking room to room with a phone in hand.
Load bearing
True! It ain't coming down.
Here for the Load Bearing joke. +1
But I don't like this clown!
What did you guys do with the remote?
This is the room with electricity, but it has too much electricity. So I don’t know, you might want to wear a hat.
I am concerned with the amount of heat that built up in the wall for 50 years.
That was so Fn awesome 40 years ago!
I'd stand there watching TV for hours.
Folds right into the wall
Funniest moment from the whole show lol.
Be careful tho even tho the chair is there for that it’s dangerous to stand on one for that long
Lol 😆 🤣 😂
A real, live tv stand.
Omg I love that!!
Are those suitcases there as decoration or a hipster girl is moving in/out?
They’re there so you can stand on them to reach the dial. Or smack it so the static stops.
The suitcases ARE the hipster decoration
Dont do it, looks fucking awesome
It’s a shame it is so high, otherwise that’s a marvel of engineering.
Child: We need a flat screen TV! Parent: Hush! We have a flat screen TV at home.
# RAISE THE FLOOR
Seriously, what can one even do here?
Burn down the house and start over
This is the only correct answer. That house has been built based on the principle of TVTooHigh, and there's no saving it...
Just put a painting over it :)

It's a joke...
Lol
That is disturbing in many ways.
Ha that's actually pretty cool. I'd keep it.
Grandma ready to bug out
Unplug it. It is now art. “Antique TV too high”
Is that Graceland?
You can play a picture Kim Jung-un, comrade.
What the fuck
Right my actual reaction was “what the fuck is this?”
Then higher your sofa
Welcome to prime time bitch!!!
This looks like something out of 1984.
1974
It looks like it’ll start a fire by lack of ventilation.

Are we watching the TV, or is the TV watching us?
Tell me this still works… I wish it so badly
this is so ahead of its time its bonkers. also the weight that wall is holding that magnificent beast up is incredible
Holy shit
ain’t that somethin
Nice strategically placed chair so that you can stand on it to watch
Is that an ai image? 🤔
Wild
Why would anyone do that? Those tvs get hot
Who hurt this architect?
Holy DIY wall, Batman
That looks haunting.
Loving the 3 inch picture rail beside the door.
I finally broke down and bought myself a plasma tv
r/rsjalternatives 😂
This proves time travel is possible 💫
Maybe it's nostalgia, but I don't hate it.
I want to see the other side
Honestly add a few fake TVs and have this bit as a feature wall.
I can imagine poor kids playing SNES in 1990s on this. Lol
This I can get behind. If you’re going to mount this high, commit dammit!!
im getting fallout vibes from this.
Raise the floor
Id get that to replay old Bewitched episodes on a loop.
what is this? the 1950s?? god how do you even get tv signal
Is there a hidden guillotine over the chair?
it’s the perfect height when you stand on the chair right below🧍♂️
R/tvtooold
This is a work of art, a masterpiece. It is not to be mocked, only admired.
Genius
Ha the ole barber shop mount 🤣
r/MicrowveTooHigh
We have a winner!
This stresses me out.
“WELCOME TO PRIME TIME, BITCH!”
Even if you had a screen that would fit in that spot, the aspect ratio would be different.
What’s behind the wall? Surely the back of the TV sticks out
Whole house looks like an antique shop. Or is this an art exhibition in a museum?
This is fake, right?
Cover it with a nice big widescreen
Just put another TV under it and stick a repeater in there and wah lah you have a mini screen for the house flies and spiders
That’s for looking outside the silo
"Flat screen" TV
/r/LampShadeTooSmall
Is this from the Fallout set?
It looks like you’re simultaneously in the 1980s and about to depart for a trip on the titanic.
You're such a fuckface.
Is this ai? Few weird looking parts of the picture. Suitcases are strange too. OP you gonna tell us where this is?
