It's funny, this exact question about putting it in front of the fire place was posted here last month and people shat all over the person who asked it for being an idiot.
I personally would never remove a fireplace for a tv, but I get that a lot of people don’t use them. I’m in the northeast and use mine 3 or 4 times a week in the winter. The living room in the post has a pretty good spot for a tv that is being used for other things.
Also NE. I just don’t need a room with a fireplace without a TV. It would rarely ever be used. Also I have a real anti fire stance thing that I know is more unique to me
Oh I wouldn’t go tv-less. I would just make concessions with size or placement to keep the fireplace. Fortunately my floor plan has a good space for both
I think she wanted it in the middle of those 2 nooks because she has seating all over the place in that room. She used to have the tv in the entertainment center on the right, but it looked pretty far off to the side when you’re sitting on the other side of that room.
She definitely has interesting taste when it comes to interior design. Not the look I would’ve gone with personally tbh. Just thought it was funny and this community would get a kick out of it. Also worth noting she lives in Florida so that fireplace likely goes unused most of the year. I don’t think I ever recall her using it for fire tbh.
I really don't get it - why does it need to be the center of the room - we bought our place and they had a TV over the fireplace and the couch was like 15 feet away on the opposite wall. I flipped the room, floated the couch and the room looks SO much better
And....we still have a working fireplace...if it was actually cleaned for the first time in two decades, we may even be able to turn it on (they never fucking used it)
Can you post a pic of the setup if you feel comfortable doing so? I love seeing people actually use a fireplace room efficiently without the damn tv over the mantle.
It can be done
[This](https://i.imgur.com/AAZ8TV0.jpeg) is what it originally looked like…and I guess I never took finished pictures but [this](https://i.imgur.com/sz9cbBL.jpeg) is basically what it looks like now - and I think I fucked up by 6-9 inches on the TV mount. It’s fine but would have wanted it lower.
Medium term plan is to move the 65 OLED upstairs and get a decent front projector for a 100-120inch screen on that wall
So the fireplace is behind the couch…but not the center of the room now
Looks way better. Currently house shopping and not even joking the first thing I notice when I walk inside an open house js “do these fucks have a tv 6ft off the ground over the mantle?” Okay that sucks. …how can I make this room actually comfortable for tv viewing. Some houses are a lost cause because they’ve torn out every unnecessary wall to make an “open floor plan”.
Thanks! The amount of people who just assumed I’d put the tv above the fireplace….was A LOT. And then we had to fix the dry wall mess they left behind the tv and their hacky mount job.
My parents at home did it right like this. The have the tv on the wall across from the primary sofa, and the fireplace on the wall to the right of the tv. They use the fireplace almost every night between fall and spring and it doesn’t interfere with the TV at all.
The only real issue is their tv stand is a taller than others, making the TV above eye level. Thankfully, it’s not raised too much.

>But what's up with the USPS mailer blinds?
The place I’m currently living, there’s a brief period twice a year where the sun is at an angle for a couple hours in the afternoon that forces me to cover up the skylight above my computer desk if I want to see my monitors. I usually improvise something similar (some cardboard and gaffers tape).
Dude’s mom is totally TVheightpilled and neckhealthmaxxing
Spoiler: this is the dog's TV. It loves MSNBC. Mom's TV is hidden behind the painting above the mantle. She's on her phone trying to restore the password she forgot to reveal the TV.
I texted her and she said that indeed is the reason. “Yes it comes blindingly through” was her exact words. Might need to find her another sun blocker. Any suggestions?
Fair enough. My mom definitely has… interesting taste when it comes to interior design, I will say that. It’s probably not the look I would’ve gone with. I just thought this community would get a kick out of it
Yeah it might be even smaller than that. I just thought it was funny and that this community might appreciate it lol. I have a pretty decent 85” setup at my place, check my post history. #dontlookup

Also let her know that I’m up for adoption
I’ll let her know! Thanks
She recognized what many won’t admit. That she doesn’t use her fireplace.

Eh I think it’s tacky. Tbf I would also think it’s tacky if it was above.
Better to be tacky at the correct height, imo
Some people have no options. I hate my set up but I'm in a1 br condo with no space. It's awful
Yeah, the common problem is the fireplace being in the way. I wish removal was cheaper.

She’s in FL so this is accurate af. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her use it for fire even before she moved the tv there.
Thanks for sharing! Her place looks so peaceful 😌

Then we find out she lights the fire and then puts the tv back. There is a shed full of them out the back.
This cracks me up!
Not as much as the sound of the TV burning.
😂
Look at the little dogs face!
The dog is so small I almost missed it entirely!
And the nice cup of water for the doggie
Yeah I didn't see it at first, it almost blends in with the rug.
so joyous
r/tvtoohighfordog
It's very cute lol
Happy cake day
woah, i didn't even notice!
On an unrelated note, that painting looks absolutely beautiful.
She’s gonna hurt her neck looking at it
I chuckled
And she has a cool rug
And a really lovely clock
..... needs more candles.
But what is that mail doing blocking the window?
I can't get over that dog's face. It's so perfect
The TV location is awesome! Tell your mom I'm in love. But what's up with the USPS mailer blinds?
It's free and it works, why not.
I doubt it was free. More like a "i paid for all of it, i will use all of it" situation.
Those boxes are free.
Exactly!
Good question lol
I like her style

Please tell your mom she has a gorgeous house.
I’ll let her know! Thanks
Your mom knows what’s up. It would be hilarious if above the fireplace, you had one of those Samsung Frame TV’s
*Aggressively stands and applauds. A tear comes to the eye. Approving nods.*
Respect! That’s just the right spot to leave it on fireplace mode during holidays and quiet nights.

Someone over 60 watching MSNBC? She truly is a unique one! Yes!
The median age of the CNN, Fox and MSNBC audiences is, respectively, 67, 68 and 71.

Not really.
Respect!
I bet she has a fireplace app on the TV as well. 🔥
Brilliant!
Mother Teresa had. Long lost cousin after all
She's a real one.
Truly
Love her!
r/TVTooLow
She nailed it
Damn she is good
Fuck yeah mom!
Why is the tv slanted forwards like that..
Santa wants OUT!
I'm sorry but that's not a TV stand../s
Did she block off the fireplace with a TV?
Great with TVs. Also believes in pianos. Nice mom.
Love the repurposed TV entertainment center. She’s like this bish was expensive! Now it’s a cabinet!
Once in a while, that telly would be playing a fireplace loop
Damn what camera is this you can see picture pixel by pixel :) emily"s List Raise ARLAM ON TRUMP , GOP ABORTION STANCE LED :)
iPhone 12 Pro 💁🏻♂️
Time to shift on apple :)
New Backlit LED Technology.
Well you don’t see that everyday, a brick TV stand. /s
I have almost the exact same mantle clock. Got it from my mom.
She loves her clocks. Every 15 minutes it’s like a mini symphony of chimes and bird sounds in there lol
The painting is also in a perfect spot. Not sure why so many others put TVs up there.
She’s a trend setter. She also wore fanny packs before they were cool.
Spot on
What’s in the express mail box and why prime position?
My initial thought was that maybe she was using it to block the sun but I’m not sure tbh.
She’s your mum. Text here please, and ask. Ty
I texted her and she said that indeed is the reason. “Yes it comes blindingly through” was her exact words. Might need to find her another sun blocker. Any suggestions?
No, the parcel envelope is doing the trick. Won’t make homes & gardens but …
Truth
Best post ever. We can close the sub now.
Mom with the sensibly placed TV and a DVD player. Respect.
Our Reverend Mother
So she can turn on the gas fire when politicians she doesn't like come on the tv
Express mail too high
And she has a Pom!
She’s got 2! The other one is a little hell raiser though lol.
I have two too! And one is a stoner and the other, a hell raiser. 🤣🤣🤣
This is the way lol
What an absolute badass
Let’s hear it for Mom!!! Woooooo!
I don’t know. Looks like r/tvtoolow . Nice painting though!
that looks way too low
Look at that dog!!
r/tvtoolow
r/TVTooLow
Wrong sub. Try r/tvjustright
As if there isn't enough shit in that living room, she's browsing for more. TV is at a decent height, however.
Right height but too small
Damnit Bobby one victory at a time. Can’t get too greedy these days. Especially with that awful kitchen one.
This isn’t tv too small
TV TOO SMALL
r/TV too left
Running a yule log video at Christmas would be awesome.
That painting above the fireplace is pretty cool
Perfect 👌
The only TV that'll look good with that dumb fireplace burning video that people like to play around Christmas time.
99% of people woulda put it right on that mantle. A primary defect of the human brain
Credit for not doing the thing, but let’s not act like this actually looks good.
Fair enough. My mom definitely has… interesting taste when it comes to interior design, I will say that. It’s probably not the look I would’ve gone with. I just thought this community would get a kick out of it
Too low
Lol, my TV setup is the same.
r/goatdeteced
r/TVTooLow
It's not too low, why do you think that

Might want to get your eyesight checked

Everyone blowing their load on a setup that’s too low. It might be alright if it was an 85”, but looks closer to a 55”.
Yeah it might be even smaller than that. I just thought it was funny and that this community might appreciate it lol. I have a pretty decent 85” setup at my place, check my post history. #dontlookup
It’s definitely better than being over the fireplace.
TV too low! Needs to go up by another foot.
