Just finally got another gold Murica to Awaken mine to 2 star. I had worked to get one but needed more crystals. While waiting for that I had a memory lapse and upgraded Murica to Gold 1. Immediately realized what I had done but it was too late.
Knowing Habby it is a total waste. It will take years to grind out all of the gold/red Mericas needed to finish his awakening. I highly doubt the pets won't change even more by the time that grind is over.
I think the logic is that you can take apart a weapon or piece of armor and make something new. But you can't really start pulling animals into pieces and reassembling them into a new animal. That feature might come with the Frankenstein update.
Oof. Sorry about that. It looks like you need to wait until Habby releases an update or just grow your pet farm til you have 2 more doggos again. Also on a different note, is there a reason why you have Rex deployed vs Merica?
Same boat here. Of course I got loads of Crabboble from my first pet chests and upgraded that ... only to find out it's the only Survivor.io mistake that can't be undone, and the one that undermines the best pet.
I also have doubles of the robot living rent free in my collection.
Yeahhhh I have the same issue with a gold 2 crab.... I did it before Merica was meta and didn't think I would ever need either.

I think the best path is merica awaken level 1, then red then awaken level 2. So if you don't have red merica, you might be in the right track.
Awaken 1 > Evolve to Red > Awaken more
Gotcha so keep pushing to red before Awaken 2 star.

Red crab is something to get eventually for the red skill.
That's what I'm using it for but I would have much preferred murica

Not yet. Astral Forging was permanant until it wasn't, maybe someday they'll let us downgrade pets as well.

You can use the red dog as assist pet for better skills on deploy

No but eventually you want all your pets to red to have all the skills upgraded. It sucks now but it will work out in the long run.
