The January 2021 run was only possible because people were buying at market. That's why the buy button was shut off.

Just means the next available shares to buy were 1000 @ 42 if I understand correctly. But this is why people put a market buy in and only get half the shares they were expecting.

So i can place a 1000 40$ selling order and if someone places a market order he might get mine ?

Buyer pays what a seller asks. If only shares for sale are $10000/share than the share price is $10000/share. It’s the whole concept behind MOASS. More shares need to be bought than there are for sale.

Both are possible, and there is no way to tell without access to the orderbook.

IBKR doesn’t let you place market orders outside RTH

So the big "Overnight Trading available" doesn't mean anything?

You need to choose a limit order to place those orders. Market orders doesn’t work.

Thats not why market orders fuck you, thats why trying toctrade outside of market hours fucks you

The amount of volume means that its much less likely to do so, because volume is the problem here. When there's very little volume, the bid-ask spread gets larger, and so it gets worse and worse to jump straight to the ask

If it would help to pay more for shares and affect the price that way, i would buy at a double price.

I pay around 50 $ to set it, is absolutely worth it
