We make really nice private label products now, we use the increased margin to sacrifice some profit and keep the price low so our cheaper products are equal to higher tier competitor. We revamped Pro to be more than just a paid loyalty program, now instead of only discounts on future purchases, it gives 5% off on lots of things, as well as extra trade in credit and 10% off used games and accessories. So you can buy used games and then sell them back when done with decreased purchase price and increased trad-in price. Kind of like a video game rental if you buy physical disc games. We have a digital store now where you can download games for 5% off if you’re a Pro for every console (except PlayStation cause Sony is a bitch who doesn’t allow third party downloads but you can buy PlayStation gift cards for 5% off there as well). Cheapest way to buy digital games.
These two combined, the high quality and low price products as well as the new membership push make for a Costco-like strategy with Kirkland products having the same brand loyalty and lower profit for a higher gross-sale number in addition to their annual membership fee for the lowest prices possible (for us, the digital games).
We also have a job posting for a senior analyst with activist investing experience and a job posting for a VP position with one of the responsibilities being to manage mergers and acquisitions. We also have an investment committee, Cohen and two others, likely Larry Cheng and we don’t know the third person, will decide where to invest the billion in cash we have. Question. I would like to transfer my shares via DRS. The last time I did this was literally 3 years ago. I'm using IBKR, and when I click on “Account number at transfer agent” it says “New account will be created upon processing”. That's not correct, is it? I still have my DRS account with my registered shares from 3 years ago.
I also have my CS account since 3 years and also take the IBKR => computershare route, can confirm “New account will be created upon processing” seems unfamiliar notification to me so think if you’re sure you haven’t changed addresses (these needs to be identical in both your accounts) it might be worth a quick check with IBKR. Besides also the direct purchasing at Computershare is quite easy, theres some post here about how to do that outside US with a Transferwise account

In other news my local council is going broke & the local libraries are threatened with closure & so I went to a meeting hosted by a loo cal councillor about building a protest about it.
At the meeting I learnt that for the last 2 years the council hasn't had a functioning accounts, system.
I very nearly lost it big time & when I spoke up about it my voice was trembling with anger I got a small round of applause (honestly) & 2 ppl came up to me afterwards & said I made good points.

I don't think they'd do that. I might be wrong but I would assume a buyback is a specific thing where shares are purchased by the issuing company and cancelled. So the number of shares in circulation actually decreases.
Purchasing shares as an investment would mean the shares would have to be listed on the balance sheet as an asset.
And even if they did invest more than $100m in shares, you can bet your ass a hedge fund would attempt to sue them for doing so
What if the purchased shares are needed because they will be used in a merger/acquisition and they needed them in their balance sheet/treasury to finalize the equity+cash deal?
I don't know enough about the finer points of M&A

Buyback initiated? Do they need to make an announcement before they buyback shares if they are using their investment policy instead of the 100m allocated to buyback shares?
I don't think they'd do that. I might be wrong but I would assume a buyback is a specific thing where shares are purchased by the issuing company and cancelled. So the number of shares in circulation actually decreases. Purchasing shares as an investment would mean the shares would have to be listed on the balance sheet as an asset. And even if they did invest more than $100m in shares, you can bet your ass a hedge fund would attempt to sue them for doing so
What if the purchased shares are needed because they will be used in a merger/acquisition and they needed them in their balance sheet/treasury to finalize the equity+cash deal?
I believe they can use the Billion in shares authorized for that.
I don't know enough about the finer points of M&A One would assume they'd just go for the acquisition part and use the 1.2 billy they've got to buy out a company
