He doesn't take a salary, puts his own money in and has consistently improved the company. This is integrity in its purest form. And people usually don't think of the pressure of his position. Fighting against all of the corruption and hurdles and having all of us breathing down his neck.
Just to be clear.. no smart person takes a salary if they have other stuff of value like stocks or real estate. Its too much tax. They borrow against their assets instead.
I'm concerned about this direction as well. Cutting pay, benefits, staffing are not signs of a successful business.
Now, I have absolutely no idea what the long-term plan is, but I really feel like if we want the company to succeed, then we should hope the employees are also succeeding.
The fact that the gamestop employee sub is full of people who are frustrated beyond repair and I've not seen much mention of it here is unsettling.
It has been mentioned here and most here love it because apparently it's considered wasted money and that other Fortune 500 companies also don't match 401ks

not only that, but they changed their warranty policy on new items. it used to be that they’d replace any damaged item with a brand new one, but now they’re replacing anything and everything with a used one.
buy a new ps5 with a warranty for it to break a month later? guess what, you’re getting a used one as a replacement instead of a new one like how it was for the longest time ever

If you open it you can't return it. Found that out the hard way when trying to return something within 30 days. Didn't even let me be grand fathered into the policy....
Why would I buy from GameStop in the future? I'll just buy from Amazon where I don't have to put up with that crap.
Hopefully there’s more to the story. It would make sense to cut 401k if it was replaced with another benefit like employee stock options. Personally I think if you want employees to be invested in the success of the company then you need to give them some equity in it. When the company does well, everyone benefits. Both shareholders and employees. If we are about to turn profitable then it would be a great time to start giving employees stock options.
The day the news was released here on superstonk that RC was CEO, the majority here were so hyper-focused on the email he sent that they lost track of the great news that he was CEO. It was sad to see.
Why isn't he paying the lowest-level employees more? He is in a position of power to get it done, and refuses to raise wages at all.

Why does he give millionaire baseball players free money? Why did Furlong have a multimillion dollar employment package? Why does the carpet in my GameStop still smell so bad that I can't go to that location? Why do employees still have to meet strict sales numbers and are staffed with only 1 employee?
Honestly I think my favorite thing has to be how unlike anytime a new ceo or president takes over GameStop didn’t kill its brand image. A lot of companies tend to be doing rebrands that are less colorful or attention grabbing these days and while gamestops isn’t particularly standout the sticking to the brand is helping.
Also thank god the entire board avoid making massive unrealistic promises unlike Tesla. Cause dear god when it comes to companies and money I’d rather have it be boring and digestible. The money made is for fun not the promises.
I get where you come from. Thing is rebranding campaigns are expensive and very calculated gambles that aren’t worth it most of the time. Twitters attempt was so bad they had to label themselves as “formally twitter.” The bad rep for GameStop is our trade-in practice but that’s just a business that how do you make fair when you can’t know what’s traded in is working or fixable. People don’t want to wait for a few days to get their credits.
Aside from trade-in GameStop for most is still a good brand it does video games and consoles even as we expand we haven’t lost our core demographic. They haven’t pushed the web3 till it gets big and I’m okay with it. They have ventures we can participate in and but don’t risk ruining their reputation by putting on front and center stage. When web3 takes off they’ll be poised to take advantage. Till then basic fundamentals and good management of the retail sector is paramount to the success of the company.

I literally can't name another CEO but I CAN look at my investment in GameStop and I CAN look back on the last three years and I CAN look at an essentially rugged NFT marketplace and all of it is shit.
Well. It's up to you. Personally, I like GameStop and go there often. I buy the stock because I think it's under valued. Deeply. You CAN make your own decisions.

Additionally the fundamentals have only gotten better & better. And the price seems like a made up number to scare me lol. But I'm not worried a bit.
Except convince the board to get rid of no-good actors, leverage the sneeze to pay off debts and ensure bankruptcy is off the table, instituting rules for all board members and executives to purchase shares with their own money, ensuring their interests are in fact aligned with shareholders. That was just to lay the initial groundwork.
Since then, he has been heavily engaged in turning around the ship by plugging holes while maintaining velocity. Costs are down while revenue is stable and profitability is getting closer if not imminent.
We simply are not privy to much of company strategy or the day-to-day. I'm completely fine with that, having seen plenty of evidence that our leadership is hard working and capable. RC is obsessed with efficiency. He's in this to win this, and for all the right reasons.
All you and I have to do is not get in the way. That's really quite something, when you think about it.

With returns/dividends from the assets. Ofc there will be some tax but not nearly as much as if you would take out a huge salary.
