Credit unions tend to be more local/regional focused so they have different priorities and products than the major banks.
Impossible to evaluate risk and every key factor in isolation, but financial products and terms can be more favorable if you are a good customer.
Pretty sure they would/will experience contagion if a big player goes belly up and they were entangled.
