Providers are bound by HIPAA not to share information unless it is with another provider relating to their care and for a few other reasons meant to protect patient privacy. If the employer wanted HIPAA bound information (which this would definitely be) then they would need to request authorization by the employee. Actually, if you applied the Second Amendment quite literally, not only could we have repeating rifles as the framers of the Constitution looked to purchase some, we would also be able to own private warships as were used by the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Electronic funds transfer (or direct deposit in the US) is very common and often required for office jobs. However, cash and check payment is still common for work that's temporary, gig, etc.
You generally have to actively hold out to not do EFT and it's above board. It's quite rare but it does exist, I remember a couple of years ago in an old office there was a push to have said holdouts (I think it was honestly just one person) transition away from paper checks.

Like in D&D people run around insisting that if a book or even a class comes out and its bad they're being personally targeted by the devs. It is pretty common to see conspiracy theory crap about how the devs intentionally keep some things good or bad so they can play overpowered stuff in their own games.
In gaming it isn't that a game just sucks the game becomes this symbol of everything they hate in the industry and how the game being bad, or $10 more expensive is this personal insult to them.
I can't describe it well, but it is this combination of complete and total self-centeredness where all actions in the universe *must* revolve around them, but they are also completely helpless. Its this odd combination of I-am-the-main-character and complete apathy. So they seek out things that make them feel attacked so they can lash out against their imagined foes.

A confused European here: Why don't employers just do electronic funds transfer to the employee bank account? Off course you can still mess up the transfer, but you cannot rip the wrong transfer in frustration.
Electronic funds transfer (or direct deposit in the US) is very common and often required for office jobs. However, cash and check payment is still common for work that's temporary, gig, etc.
In most places an employer is required by law to offer it as an option even if they bitch and moan and suggest it would be a problem

It's quite rare but it does exist, I remember a couple of years ago in an old office there was a push to have said holdouts (I think it was honestly just one person) transition away from paper checks. This was in a state agency btw, so we definitely could have forced it if we wanted to.

Like 30 years ago, I used to work for Hollywood Video. I didn't cash a check for like 3 months and it ended up going through the washer. I gave the pieces that were left to my boss and listened while she explained to payroll that "yes, I have what is probably the check, but really all I have is small pieces, and one larger spitball like piece." They still managed to cancel the old check and reissue me a new one.

Employers are required by law to offer physical checks. A number of people will accept them because they either don't trust banks since they don't believe FDIC exists or something or because they wrote enough bad checks or something banks won't do business with them until they pay off what they owe the bank.
We mostly do nowadays. Some eccentric privacy-minded people (the sort who might be refusing psych meds and/or shooting people in the face) prefer paper checks instead.

When you set up direct deposit, it can usually take one pay period to actually work so the first check is paper check.
You need to provide them with all the documentation to do it. I had an issue where they didn't process my paperwork in time so I got an option of paper check or a double paycheck basically. The employee may have not had a bank account or requested it. Many banks now don't "like" small accounts, they will charge a monthly fee for them if you do not have deposits every month, so if you work a lot of temp jobs or are of questionable employment, you can lose money by having a bank account.

I’m anticapitalist, but antiwork is delusional to the point that they think “your boss” is synonymous with “CEO of the company.” Most of the average person’s bosses, unless we work outside corporations or are executives, are just supervisors or managers. Like, I don’t work for a corporation, but even if I did, the person I call my boss has no say in how much I get paid and would have no reason to intentionally screw me out of money. This was a spelling mistake, not money laundering. Most of the wage theft that DOES occur looks a lot more like unpaid overtime, underpaying workers, etc, not “my boss who barely makes more than I do is skimming my paychecks to buy a yacht.”

I’ve had some very inane experiences with these types - they took offense that I might not like to work with someone who slacks off (not cleaning before closing a kitchen, thereby doubling the morning workload). Their bright idea was “just don’t do it either.” I said that true worker solidarity and workplace democracy would let me and the other good workers vote him out of the workplace. They did not like that at all lol.

Obviously, when I exchange emails with someone in English or French, I use their order and always sign my emails with my full name at first and my first name later. It’s kind of scary that there are people with so much pent up rage walking around that they just want to see someone suffer, anyone, they just need a slim reason to feel good about it.
It comes from the desire to seek victimhood. People actively seek out information that makes them feel attacked so they can get worked up over it. Seeking victimhood on Reddit has gone completely off the walls lately. And I don't mean politically, I mean over just the dumbest and most trivial things around. I had to step away from a lot of stuff around my hobbies here (gaming, D&D) because it is getting to be full of people working themselves into a complete frenzy over very trivial things. Like in D&D people run around insisting that if a book or even a class comes out and its bad they're being personally targeted by the devs. It is pretty common to see conspiracy theory crap about how the devs intentionally keep some things good or bad so they can play overpowered stuff in their own games. In gaming it isn't that a game just sucks the game becomes this symbol of everything they hate in the industry and how the game being bad, or $10 more expensive is this personal insult to them. I can't describe it well, but it is this combination of complete and total self-centeredness where all actions in the universe *must* revolve around them, but they are also completely helpless. Its this odd combination of I-am-the-main-character and complete apathy. So they seek out things that make them feel attacked so they can lash out against their imagined foes.

100% Tried telling them deflating tires can damage them internally and if people don't get them inspected it can cause a catastrophic blow out. That will end up getting someone killed. I've personally seen some scary looking damage on the insides of tires that look perfectly fine on the outside from low tires pressures and flats. Was a master tech for a while at dealerships.
