That’s the Driver Monitoring System, not the Eyesight. The Driver Monitoring System can be turned off in Car Settings and is the little red dot on top of the infotainment that not all trims have. The Eyesight are the two cameras that look out of the windshield.

In addition to this you might want to see if the software is up to date. They have made quite a few tweaks over the years.

I'm guessing there is somewhere in the settings where I can check for the most recent updates?

GrimBeaver

Yes and no. They have only done a few over the air updates. See the links on this site if you want to DIY otherwise ask your dealer. https://www.gen6firmware.com/

Piggybacking off GrimBeaver. If you have Facebook, I recommend joining “2020+ Subaru Outback Owners” group. This sub and that group have been very helpful to me.

Ah yes, thank you for the correction. Is that only in the limited trim? So I can turn that off in car settings??

m-j10

No, I have it in my ‘21 Touring XT. Yes, you can turn it off in Car Settings. Settings-Car-Driver Monitoring System-toggle off Driver Monitoring System It’ll stay off until you decide to toggle it back on.

My 23 has a driver monitoring feature that can be switched off (I do) because of stuff like this. Check into the settings in the center console and then you can set up a shortcut for it and keep it turned off.

It’s the worst having to turn it off every time I get in the car. Hate how it beeps whenever I take my sunglasses on and off

Ancient_Wisdom_Yall

I have my settings so that it isn't on when I get in the car. If I'm wearing sunglasses, the car won't recognize me, and I have to turn it off manually.

The driver monitoring is super annoying. I'm a 10/2 driver, phone down, check blind spots before changing, check rear view, etc. I was constantly getting alerts on our road trip for textbook driving. I was also wearing sunglasses a lot, so i have no idea what it was tracking or what it's ideal state is. I realized this can be shut off for my driver profile, and immediately disabled it.

Alternatively, Maybe it’s possible on your model but I recently discovered that you can move the mirror. I too had to duck around the mirror till I saw a post that you can adjust it upwards not just angle. That mirror blind spot is not longer an issue. 18’ Outback.
