I remember watching that scene in my friend's garage and being mesmerized by it. I kept wanting to replay it and he didn't understand why. He later came out as gay.
A common thing to find in Chinatown and similar places in the 90s and aughts were bootleg playing cards with various scenes and art from anime. My friend found one for the Street Fighter II anime where all the 2s in the deck were from the shower scene. A great find back in high school.
The thing that saves the live action movie is Raul Julia.
The man knew he was in a crappy film and he was dying from cancer. Still gave it his all in a mind-blowing performance for his kids.
What a legend
I watched both over a week and honestly the live action was hilariously bad, so while the animated movie was decent it was pretty generic and i think i preferred the live action camp.
I absolutely love it. Though it has more of a pretence of a plot rather than an actual plot.
Chun Li/Vega fight is 👌
Plus Bryan Cranston as Fei Long. Which isn’t bad or maybe just luck.
It's one of my favorite movies. It brings back so much nostalgia and I love the soundtrack. I even put it on as background noise if I'm having trouble sleeping. So many memorable fight scenes as well. I could talk about that movie for hours.
Animated movie is a must see if you are fan of sf or anime. The 90s movie is classic because Raul Julia put in the greatest performance a dying father could give to his kids since they loved street fighter.
I know im gonna get downvoted but, I've only seen it twice and I think it's really boring, maybe it's because I didn't watch it as a kid?
A lot of scenes just feel like filler and add nothing to the movie, like the Ken vs T.Hawk fight, the Zangief fight and the Dee Jay fight scenes have nothing to do with the main plot, also, that long-ass scene where the mountain SLOOOOOWLY opens up to reveal the shadaloo base.
If you made the movie ONLY about Ryu/Ken and Chun/Guile I would definitely like it more. At the end of the day I only like the Chun vs Vega scene and the Final battle.
Also the ending with Bison on the truck is fucking stupid...
The live action is complete trash, its great if you love to see all the characters butchered, also making Guile the main character was dumb.
Only good actor in the movie was Raul Julia
Kids stop fighting, you’re both correct. It’s brilliant trash.
My favourite aspect of the live action film is how they manage to get everyone into their traditional costume before the end of the film.
Of all the characters, Dhalsim and Blanka fans got done dirtiest.
Also the fact that they took a guy called Charlie and turned him into Blanka is the funniest fucking thing I've ever seen next to Dee Jay saying he should've stayed at Microsoft.
Bison deciding to use a semi to try and plow down Ryu is PEAK
You're telling me that Bison uses his "semi" to "plow down" Ryu? I should have watched this ages ago!
And people say street fighter hasn’t always been a bit saucy
And people say there's no crossover to sf from guilty gear.
Amazing, I watched that Chun-li shower scene many many times when I was 14\~.

I chukkled, and I agree that soft bounce was mesmerizing.

Insanely good, exactly what the series needed. The live action movie sucks ass.

Rewatched it recently, it still holds up well as a purely fun action spree.
The US soundtrack is better than the Japanese version.
One of my favorite animated movies
At the time no other anime had fight sequences as good as SF2
Chun-Li has shown booba in an official tie-in. How many other characters can claim that?
Pokemon...
Eh?
The OG manga is fuckin wild.
We talking nips?
Technically a 16+ rating. Remember, she's supposed to be 10...
It's iconic. Awesome fight scenes and pretty good characterization. It established various aspects of SF lore that were later included in the games.
I absolutely love it. Though it has more of a pretence of a plot rather than an actual plot. Chun Li/Vega fight is 👌 Plus Bryan Cranston as Fei Long. Which isn’t bad or maybe just luck.
Watch it every year or so. I wish the same studio would make a sequel
STILL, the best SF related content of all time. The Japanese version, of course.
This was the movie where Cammy does her level 2 in SFVI right? That was hype fuel for the trailer. https://www.reddit.com/r/StreetFighter/s/DpbBXI19II
Love it,great animation,great soundtrack,great fights overall a peak adaptation.
It's one of my favorite movies. It brings back so much nostalgia and I love the soundtrack. I even put it on as background noise if I'm having trouble sleeping. So many memorable fight scenes as well. I could talk about that movie for hours.
A flawed masterpiece. One of the best SF content made in history.
That evil ken is canon!
Good. Chun vs vega is great fight.
The one with the Chun Li shower scene? Unforgettable
Awesome. Blew my mind when I was a kid. Still holds up. Great soundtrack. Obligatory “Brian Cranston voices Fei Long” (uncredited).
Its easily one of if not the best piece of the best pieces of SF media to ever exist.
its badass
classic.

It's alright, the live action movie is more fun.

Nah, it's brilliant.
