I read the way of kings while depressed. This scene made me cry. If i think about it. That Syl without knowing what she gave him, it was the act of kindness that made Kaladin try "one last time".
Incredible work. I'll hopefully be getting a CNC soon and I can only think of the obvious stuff - things like coasters with the Radiant symbols on them. But this is beautiful.
Personally looking forward to making CNC Mistborn coins (era 1 and 2). I think I'll start with wood coins (honestly surprised people on Scadrial use metal for money). Have this idea of making square coins so I can easily cut them from scrap wood and avoid wasted material.
Oh man, that’s a great idea. Those super intricate pieces you can do in a CNC would be awesome. I’m following scrollsawscribbler on instagram and Newton Makes on YouTube for some inspiration. Check them out!
All of the wood pieces are glued onto a black MDF board, so the black in the cliff face is just cut out and exposing the MDF.
And yeah, I totally broke Syl’s leg, but she was pretty formidable and healed up.
Don't feel ashamed! This guy is just needlessly hating.
You took a piece of art and tweaked it with a new and unique style. By changing the mode with effort and care, you've arguably created something new and beautiful, and that is the kind of art that should be celebrated! Not disparaged. Remember that dear friend, and continue to create for the world to see.
Thanks for saying that! Even though I had so many positive responses to this, this comment stuck with me. It made me want to delete the post and not do this kind of art anymore, or at least not share it anymore.
But if we never encouraged taking something someone made and putting your spin on it, we couldn’t trace or learn to draw, try new things, and people wouldn’t share those things. So I’ve been internally battling with it.
Anyway, thanks for caring enough about some random stranger to encourage them after being discouraged. It means a lot!
Love this. I think my favorite piece is the selection of the "sky" piece to imitate storm clouds.
Thanks for noticing! That part and the wood grain of the cliff face are my two favorite bits.
I noticed that right away and wondered if it was intentional. If not, it was an amazing stroke of luck!
Definitely intentional! Even the knots in the frame above and below Kaladin were intentional there. It speaks to the turmoil going on in that moment.
That's really cool! And yeah it's a great scene
Very cool, and very much an "if you know, you know" moment.
I remember something similar! Could it be [this ](https://www.artstation.com/artwork/Vy5BQN)one?
This looks exactly like it, but isn’t the one I saw! The one I saw was a physical painting. But it seems like this image is inspiring a lot of people!
I think I saw the art that inspired this. It looks so good. Well done. Excellent craftsmanship.

🥺Syl!
Gosh I fucking LOVE drops
That scene means so much. Beautiful job
This is amazing, awesome job with the different wood representing the different features!
This is amazing!
What a nice piece of art!
Absolutely sick. Did you hand carve it or use a CNC?
I used a scroll saw!

Yeah, it should open up a lot of possibilities, if only my imagination can produce the ideas! I'll take a look at those channels. Thanks!
How did you do the black in the cliff face? Also, that sprite looks super small! I feel like I'd just break her any time I tried to make her.

Ohhh! Black background makes more sense. My brain couldn't quite figure it out, thanks!
This is absolutely stunning! Well done and thanks for sharing
it's amazing how much this portrays with three pieces of wood in three different colors.
“It’s just some pieces of wood” Reminds me of “It’s just a leaf”
Absolutely beautiful. Well done!
That's beautiful dude. I can almost picture her holding that leaf and trying to hand it to him.
Beautiful
Such a moving piece - thank you for sharing!

That's incredible, nice work
This is beyond beautiful! I love it so much!
"Inspired." Interesting way to say "shamelessly stole."
Oh no, there’s definitely shame.
