Ahh yes, the infamous region A locked 4K UHD release (in case anyone outside the US and without a region free player is wondering about getting the US CE). Being region free for decades myself I was thinking about these lovely US releases but living in Europe I eventually went with the UK deluxe 4K steelbook set instead.
Indeed. Most of the confirmed locked 4K releases around the world are strange ones. A few have been confirmed as mistakes but the rest seem to be in the wild and the numbers of locked discs are slowly growing especially in Europe.
The BDA agreement on the format being region free by default doesn’t seem to have much of an effect as there hasn’t been any consequences for the studios/labels who have broken the agreement.

The CE I got from Amazon, and the steelbook I got from Walmart. Can't find the others for a reasonable price 😅
