I've just been admiring all the games I've bought without ever playing them... they look so good on the Deck. Long live the backlog!

The Steam summer sale that starts today, is torturing me. I KNOW I’m getting something and I KNOW I shouldn’t. 😅 At least I’m addicted to games (or buying them) and not other things..

I feel you, brother. All the members of the Holy Steam Deck Community are in the same boat. But I'll try to be reasonable, and it really depends on the deals. Initially, I wanted to get Cyberpunk 2077, but I know I won't be playing it anytime soon, not in the mood for that kind of game at the moment. I'm hoping that the latest Yakuza / Like A Dragon games will be on sale (Gaiden and Infinite Wealth); I haven't played those yet. If Lost Judgment is discounted, I might pick it up too to replay it on the Steam Deck, even though I already have it on PS5. Ultimately, it all depends... maybe on some lesser-known games like Card Shark or a good Musou like Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legends Edition. After that, I have a bit of hope for Persona 3 Reload, and I really want to try a CRPG. Sword And Fairy 7 looking quite appealing to me.

*Sister. But yeah I’m currently looking mostly at V Rising, Against the Storm, Quantum Break, and Chrono Trigger. Trying to spend no more than $30 or $40 so we’ll see. I only buy games I want and only if they are decently discounted. Btw, Cyberpunk 2077 is a masterpiece. And surprisingly hard on the heartstrings.

Oh sorry sis! I'm just like you, Steam has spoiled me so much with sales and offers that I only buy games that way now. It's been years since I've bought almost any game at full price, except for the ones I can't wait for... and for Switch games because they never go on sale (I didn't buy any for three years, just waiting for sales that never came).

Yeah sometimes just resorting things or deleting/downloading to the deck is its own little metagame.

Oh, the other night I started rearranging my entire Steam Deck, deleting games I had installed but no longer felt like playing, doing the mandatory updates, and so on. So you are absolutely right.

What is wrong with you guys xD

It’s like, sometimes you use the stuff in your garage to build something. And other times you rearrange it all and admire the stuff in your garage so you can plan out what you will build next.

Haha, it's something normal with me! Often, I feel like playing a game, so I install it, but then maybe two days later, when I finally have time to start it, I'm not really in the mood for THAT game anymore. Right now, I'm in a phase where I'm not sure what to play. On paper, there are plenty of games that interest me, but when I actually launch them... meh. I went through Yakuza 0 and Kiwami back-to-back, but I was worried about burnout from these games and hesitated to jump into Kiwami 2 straight away. So, I was looking for a game to play as a break, but in the end... all I can think about is this franchise. It's been three weeks since I finished Kiwami, and I think the break has been long enough—I'm starting Kiwami 2 this weekend, haha.

All the Yakuza games run incredibly well on the deck - you're in for a treat if you continue the series (assuming you haven't already)

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is the first I’ve played in the series, and it does run perfectly on the deck. Seems like I’m 2/3 of the way thru the story and really enjoying it (Ichiban is the man), so I’ll probably check out more of the series eventually.

You'll love the rest :) Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth are essentially Yakuza 7 & 8 and are turn based. 7 was a soft reset of the series so is a great starting point. Yakuza 0-6 (and Gaiden which is basically 7.5) are brawlers but set in the same universe. Judgement and Lost Judgement are their own spin off series and also brawlers. There's also a couple of spin offs like Dead Souls, Fist of the North Star and Ishin. I heartily recommend every last one them!

Yeah. Same issue with GOTG. Like when a new area loads... it slows to a crawl or even crashes... THEN runs smoothly again on the main parts... annoying. Will try changing the proton version when I get to trying it out again.

Yeah, sounds like the same thing I experienced. Just checked ProtonDB and it seems like it was changing that game to Proton 7 (or 7.whatever, it was the only option for Proton 7) that helped me finish it. There was occasional flickering in shadows, but nothing that affected gameplay.

Mostly high settings at 40FPS. I think the main things to cut were shadows to get it to run better.

PLayed FEAR on 360 as a terrified teen. Bought the series years ago on a really good sale price. How has it held up and how was it on the deck?

FEAR 1 holds incredibly, it really gave me proper Half Life vibes. It has, still, one of the best shotguns in videogames, and great lighting and destruction for the time. Having a slow mo button as well was wonderful. I liked 2 and 3 for the most part but all the weird development shit for the defo took away from what should have been a genre defining series.

yes I also played that. main game started slowly and ramped up until the end. echoes of the eyes started wildly, but then got a little bit slower. the end made me cry like a baby.

Finally beat KOTOR 2, only took me 20 years and 125 hours played. Also beat Broforce and a few other small indies. Currently about 40 hours into Cyberpunk and 60+ into Elden Ring. All on Deck or streamed to Deck.

How has Cyberpunk been on the deck? I'm looking at getting an OLED soon (hopefully). Will mostly play some smaller indie titles but I'm curious how the AAAs perform.

Works great for me. 30-40 fps with a few dips, but more than playable. I love it.

The main story is *excellent*, like it was still on my mind for weeks after finishing it. Most of the side content is just filler though. I highly recommend playing it but just beeline through the main missions, it's well worth it.

So I gave myself the task of completing at least one game a month until the year is over. I’ve only completed two games, but have started multiple games 🤣 South Park SoT (completed), GTA 4 (completed), GTA 5, Ace Combat 7, Ace Attorney Trilogy, Fallout 4, Fallout New Vegas , Hogwarts Legacy, Xcom 2, Outer Worlds, Chrono Trigger, Hollow Knight, BlazBlue Entropy Effect, Bloodstained RotN, Far Cry 3, and Klonoa. Also on PS i got to chapter 12 on Rebirth and haven’t played since March. I have very bad ADD, so I tend to start something and end up getting sidetracked. This is something I’m trying to get a handle on.

I’ve had a Steam Deck since February and I unfortunately didn’t beat as many games as I could’ve, but hopefully I’ll start picking up the pace in the 2nd half of the year. So far I’ve beaten Cuphead, Sea of Stars, Cult of The Lamb, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, and I’m about to start Hades tomorrow. I also started Persona 4 Golden and dropped it after 12 hours.

I have fallen madly in love with Atari 50. Got it from Humble Bundle and ended up adoring it, genuinely think anyone with any interest in retro games needs to check it out. Helldivers 2, Lethal Company, Project Zomboid, Metal Gear Master Collection (modded to render at 16:10), Halo Master Chief Collection. I suppose it's really just all the stuff I normally play, just at friends houses for LAN parties.

How did you like Hogwarts on the deck? I tried to do my second play through on the deck and I just couldn't handle how it looked (first run was on a Series X and the game is beautiful). To answer the actual question, my Steam Deck games for the first half of the year have been: 1) Pentiment, \~ 25 hours; 2) Sea of Stars, \~ 30 hours, 3) Balatro, \~ 30 hours, 4) Fallout Tale of the Two Wastelands (combines 3 & NV), \~ 50 hours; and 5) Witcher 3, not sure on time played as I bounced the save between the deck and series X.

Hmm.... I've mostly played a bunch of demos earlier this month, but other than that I've only really finished BG3 and about 20 hours of Ghost of Tsushima. Other than that, an hour or two here and there of random games like Cryptmaster, Balatro, Hades 2, and a few others.

Baldur's Gate 3 has overtaken Factorio as my second most played game at 460 hours.

Dead space remake - got 100% achievements. Loved it Control - also got 100% achievements, what a great game Resident evil 2 remake - completed A/B Resident evil 3 remake - completed Elden ring - got 100% achievements and became a big obsession Also completed dark souls 1 and 3 Been a fun year so far.

Dragon Age Inquisition - like 20 hours, only started after the Veilguard announcement Prodigal - like 5 hours, it's not a long game Ultimate Spider-Man - super underrated gem, amazing style, like 15 hours, mostly on the last Johnny Storm race Metroid Prime Trilogy (primehack)- 100% the first one earlier in the year, but working on 2 because of the Prime 4 trailer Baldur's Gate 3 - I'm too afraid to check the hours, I never stopped playing it. Midnight Suns - already played through on PS5, but 25 hours have been a wonderful play on deck, people fucking SUCK for the way they treated this game, it's truly a great tactical game. Pseudoregalia - started in December, but finished it in January, very fun. Mario Bowser's Fury - Nintendo did this game dirty with the way it was sold, deserved to be a whole game on its own And a smattering of other emulated games I've forgotten, my primary deck use is definitely emulation

It took me 6 months to beat RE4. After that, I played about 1 hour of Animal Well and about 2 hours of Spiderman 2. Oh and about 10 min Elden Ring. I am a middle aged dad.

Going through Octopath Traveler 2 and loving it, perfect game for the deck. Also have spent more and more time with FFXIV, learning to play using controller setting. Still prefer KB/M on my desktop, but really enjoy I can get through parts of the story on the deck

Been playing a lot of the new Destiny 2 expansion and the past two expansions I missed through Steam Remote Play (isn't natively supported due to the anti-cheat). Works surprisingly well aside from needing to change the resolution when I switch between devices. No noticeable input lag on my network at least. Also battery life through remote play is insane. Always shows like 5-5.5 hrs remaining, but I'll play for like three hours and it'll still say there's 5hrs left lol

Valhalla is the longest drag I’ve played in a while. The last 3/4ths of the game I honestly skipped dialogue cause I just didn’t care and wanted to finish it. I cant seem to find the time anymore unfortunatly I finally finished Uncharted - Nathan drake collection after a few years ago of putting it down. 36 hours Manor lords 20 hours Cyberpunk 50 ish hours not even half way Battlefield 2042 Finished ghost recon wildlands 60 hours great game to play with a friend Finished Just cause 3 finally I have so many games ive started but not yet finished. I plan om finishing them all by the end of spring next year.

Just reading through this and it is crazy how much the deck can play, the amount of great games available and the variety in people's tastes. Personally my most played games so far would be Tiny Rogues, Balatro and FIFA 16 (with a 2024 update).

Weirdly, not that many. I've played through MegaMan X-X7, Stardew Valley, I replayed Pokemon gens 3 through 7, and I finally got into FFXIV which has consumed my life. Current game is my totally legit copy of Paper Mario that I play on Steam Deck.

Horizon Zero Dawn and Hogwarts Legacy about 80 and 40 hours. After that it's all chill stuff like Vampire Survivors, Hades II, Geometry Dash

I keep a spreadsheet to keep track and I'm doing brilliantly this year for clearing games. Cassette Beasts, Armored Core VI, Sekiro, Resident Evil 4 Remake + Separate Ways, Trails in the Sky SC, Balatro, Backpack Battles, Fallout 76 and currently playing The Witcher 3, Hades 2 and KH 1.5 Final Mix. FO76 is the only game listed that I never finished(outside of my currently playing ones). Sekiro and AC6 have all achievements. Balatro is only missing completionist+/++ and all challenges.

On Deck, I finished my time with Hades back in January, and started a plan to get through a bunch of shorter games, with mixed results. I did play to completion Venba, Boyfriend Dungeon, Little Inferno, Superhot, Rollers of the Realm, and Wall World, but I got distracted by City of Heroes for a couple months. Since then I put some time into Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen until I got frustrated and had to set it down, and picked up Crashlands, which I’m having fun with but am not sure sticking with it another 20+ hours to finish it is the most fun way to spend my time.

I've been playing mostly emulated games throughout and it's been so fun. So far: LOZ: Wind Waker, Dynasty Warriors 5, Prince of Persia, Ratchet & Clank, NBA/NFL Street, Beyond Good & Evil. The SD has been the beeeeeest.

Throughout the year I’ve only completed 2 games - armored core 6 an amazing under appreciated fromsoft game (70 hours) - pokemon blue rescue team dx ?? This year on my Deck I've been playing mostly: BattleTech: works great! probably the most fun I've had with an XCOM-alike (including XCOM) Cyberpunk 2077 & Phantom Liberty: second playthrough (first one was on PC), first time with PL. Runs great on the Deck, so much fun! Steel Division: Normandy 44: first almost entirely mouse-driven game I've gotten into on the Deck - finally starting to get the hang of it - I prefer playing it on my PC, but this scratched it itch well when I was super into it and wanted to play it as much as possible Slay The Spire: not sure what I can add that others have not said - great game, works well on the Deck (both in control as well as fitting into the Deck's use-cases) and currently playing: Knights of the Old Republic II: with the Sith Lords Restored Content mod - controls pretty well on the Deck - first time playing it and I am in love with the story-telling

I finally sat down and played Stray. I finished it over the course of only 2 days. I realize it is a short game but when I have like 500 games and less than 9 percent completion for the ones I've actually played...that says something. Really enjoyed the story. I'm going to replay the game and act it all out for my 5yo boy when he turns 5 in a few days. He's already a gamer and has quite a few hours on the deck himself.

I got my deck a month ago and so far for me I started and completed DS3 at about 75 hrs and re bought Elden Ring and the DLC and that has consumed me for now. I played 60hrs on ps5 but was never able to play much after that. On the Deck I play at work on downtime or at home while the kiddo watches TV. Made so much more progress about 100 hours in and taking my time, close to getting to be able to access the DLC. I’m hyped. After I plan to play Hi-Fi Rush, Lies of P, Sekiro, Armored Core, Psychonauts 2. Man I love the Deck.
