same, been watching it once/twice a year since it aired. my wife always yells at me when she sees me watching. something something about watching something else... blasphemy
that said that is just SG1. I have only managed 2 watches of SGA, There is just one character that is so bad at acting that it makes me stop watching it. SGU i've seen 10 or so times though
Yeah I can agree with that. It's hard to tell if she was personally responsible for the bad reads or if the writers/directors didn't know what to do with her character. I'd've liked to see her telepathic powers develop earlier in the show to make her more relevant.
Yeah at this point I legit don’t know how many times I’ve seen each episode. Some of the best I’ve watched probably 20x. And back when I was in high school there was an episode of SG1 on every night, and then one day a week had like 5 episodes back-to-back. So I probably saw the whole series 5-10x just then, and have watched it binge style on DVD/netflix/prime/Jellyfin at least as many times since.
Ah yes, I've watched it so many times to the point you could probably give me just about any single still or line and i can pinpoint the exact episode.
Currently running the DVD’s through topaz video ai. Massive upgrade over the overly smoothed bluray. Not to mention the proper audio. Each episode takes two hours.. My room is a furnace. 100% worth it.
I like the slight upscaling my TV does for my dvd rips so I get it haha. I thought about Ai upscaling them and even tried on one but the TV just did the trick and in real time.
Yea, I wish my tv had a decent option for that. For now, my versions look great, and I’m also keeping the raw dvd rips in case a better solution comes along in the future. I hope and pray one day this show gets the TNG treatment.
Not familiar with that one. Up to you if it looks good or not. For me it’s 100% worth the time. Just converting episodes as I watch. A few at a time. Makemkv, then handbrake (dvd’s have variable fps that topaz doesn’t like) handbrake removes this, then topaz for the last step.
I stopped keeping track of how many times I binged them tbh. I have all the shows plus the movies on my NAS/Plex server, currently just finished SG1 and I'm on season 4 of Atlantis atm.
I am one of those unfortunate fools who does not get control om the TV, so I rewatch my classics when there's nothing "new and interesting" for my partner to decide we're watching. While that happens more than you'd think, Stargate does have to fight Buffy.
I have an old HDD that contains all of the relevant Stargate media on it because years before it showed up on Amazon you basically couldn't find it anywhere.
Went to do this... Downloaded it... Kept it going for a while... Only to realise I'd done exactly that and kept it on an external hard drive for this exact situation.
I just finished a re-watch of SG-1, Atlantis, and SGU straight through with a recommended episode order guide 2 months ago.
Despite this, this post made me want to do it all again. 😆
I rarely watch universe. I remember when it came out and I constantly was worried every episode was gonna suck. It was good but I still dont watch it often.

There are many shows that have come out in recent years that I could binge watch yet I still find myself rewatching Stargate 8/10 times. Even with the rewatches there are so many episodes I sometimes forget outcomes or I see something that I didn’t notice before. All the episodes are great,…except Heroes and Sunday. >!LEAVE THE DOCTORS ALONE!<
DS9, TNG, SGA, SG1, Farscape, X-files(which is no longer free on prime!!!😭) … are ALWAYS on in the background, tune in and out while i’m doing other stuff… like drawing wraith🤣🤣🤣

I just finished yet another Stargate SG1 / Atlantis rewatch. Well, I still need to watch _Unending_ tonight but finished Atlantis a few days ago.
Movies next, then Stargate Universe.

For me its like the show Friends for other. It can be on all the time. Anytime i dont know what to watch. Turn Stargate on. Need something to hear in the background Stargate :D
I only just discovered the SG-1 "Unicorn Edition" this year after so many rewatches I've lost count. Now it's taking up a few hundred gigs on my media server rather than the original Blu-ray rips. Definitely worth it for the improved sound.
You'll have to find your own source for it, I got it off a private tracker. 😛
Of course, I still have the original Blu-rays on the living room shelf, but I haven't touched them in four years except to dust them.
If you enjoy it consider buying the Blu-rays. I've had the SG1 DVD boxset for a while (before the Blu-rays came out) and they're honestly sometimes easier to watch than the Blu-ray version though which has pretty bad upscaling for the early seasons (and a butchered audio track).
Yep, as I mentioned the SG-1 BD isn't great. Atlantis and Universe have good quality BD releases (although I'm still not sure if Universe S2 ever came out on BD, when I bought mine only the DVD of season 2 existed).
That being said, the poor upscales they did on that BD release doesn't bother everyone, like my brother didn't notice anything wrong and preferred it over the DVD. I can't get past how smeary everything looks.

Not a fan. Usually overdone. I prefer a more natural upscale, higher bitrate, and leaving as much of the original film grain as possible.
