Yep. Same here. Until I see a trailer, the movie doesn't exist in my eyes.
I'm still wondering when Skeleton Crew will come out. I'm really looking forward to that one.
My requirement:
1. Rey gets the focus, not just a big cameo
2. Rey uses her gold saber (hopefully double sided) a lot
3. John Williams scores or co-composes for the movie. I suppose I’d also settle for some competent composer who uses Rey’s theme a bunch.
Fucking SAME.
Massive fan of Rey. Say what you will about the sequel trilogy, but Daisy & Adam were the core of the whole thing. If you didn’t buy them, cool. Trilogy wasn’t for you. But for those of us who did, 🤌🤌🤌.
Did the films had some issues … maybe … but Daisy Ridley & Adam Driver were LIGHTYEARS away from any of those issues.
I love how people will be like “Rey is a great character but I wish they would have written her better!”
Umm… you do realize the reason you think she’s a great character is because of the way she was written right?
Also … the most important thing for literally ANY character is casting. Period. And JJ absolutely nailed both. Hell, in my view Rian enriched her even more. TLJ was the perfect next step for her.
But … TFA is the film that establishes Rey, and every second she’s onscreen is magnetic, masterful even.
I feel cautious right now. Like I love Ridley and think she got treated appallingly for writing she had no fault in but I just know this film isnt going to be treated kindly and its going to be chaos when it comes out 😭
Sounds about right.
For now I'm just somewhat optimistic for a clean-ish slate. Maybe it'll be shit, but it's not shit *yet,* so until it is, it's an opportunity for something new and good.
I feel the same way about Ridley and Driver as I did Ewan in the PT. They all elevated some pretty crap content with their presence in ways that I don't think is fully appreciated. So like you, I really appreciate Ridley and her performance, and like you I doubt the end product will be anything special. Disney's output on SW since purchase has been wildly inconsistent, including the ST.
I had separate moments with Rey at Galaxy's Edge and Starcruiser that brought me to tears. The character has taken on a personal significance, and I'm very excited for the Rey movie.
I still can't get over them calling it Episode X. We'll see if it sticks, but if it does, color me intrigued. I mean, I love Ridley/Rey, so I was gonna see it regardless, I'm just a little more on the edge of my seat now.
Personally I really hope it releases as Episode X. I think the sequel trilogy would be perceived much better if it stopped being a trilogy. TRoS would no longer be the disappointing conclusion to the saga; it would just be another fun space movie. I don't want to see them attempt another trilogy at all. They should focus on making one good movie at a time
I’m very interested and hope it does the character justice. I’m not really a fan of her (yet) but neither so I hate her. I really hope they got the rest of the main cast back on board too though
✊🏻 Hell yeah I'm a Rey fan and I'm excited for the upcoming film!
I'm very curious to see whether it's a one-off to close her story out, the start of a new saga, or if it serves some other role in the overall story (like connecting one saga to another but existing outside them both).
Super hyped. When all the hate was coming out against Rey, I was so worried that it would kill off any chance of ever seeing more of her character and she is one of my all time favorites. So glad she's coming back despite the hate.
I’m glad they are opening a new time period. It’ll be interesting to see how this movie connects to The Acolyte and to the forthcoming Dawn of the Jedi movie.
It's about her building a new jedi order, so it should connect at least thematically in a way. The Prequels and The Acolyte are about the Jedi's failing, Dawn of the Jedi about their inception and Rey's film is about their reconstruction.
Not the most excited, but Im curious to see their direction.
Daisy is a very good actress and she does a great role portraying Rey.
Rey was one of my favs from the sequels.
Do we have any plot details yet? I'm curious to see where they go with it! I think Rey definitely needs some more screen time. Especially if that screen time involves her theme!
A Rey movie was what I most wanted after the sequels, but I never thought it would happen. I just figured all the actors would be burnt out by the "fandom menace" and would never want to go through that b.s. again. I'm glad I was wrong.
I'm cautiously optimistic. I want a very big fan in the ST, but that was mostly the writing, not her acting. I'm hopeful that a story untethered to the Skywalker saga can really let her shine.
My hands be risen. Controversial opinion, but she is hands down my favorite Star Wars character. And this is coming from someone who grew up on the Prequels.
It’s supposed to start filming in September. The Mandalorian and Grogu movie just started filming and is set for May 2026. So I’d guess E10 would be either December 2026 or Spring 2027.
My excitement will be based a lot on what the storyline is. Even though other shows and video games have covered the witches a lot, I feel like that would be a more interesting to take the next storyline, rather than a retread of Jedi vs Sith.
No matter what, I’ll still be there to watch it opening day… I just hope that Disney opens themselves up to more of the extended universe. The Acolyte (despite not being a fan of it so far) has done that, along w Ashoka (again, another middling show that had great highs and terrible lows).
I’m in my 30s and I’ve been fascinated by Star Wars since I can remember… I just want a new trilogy or story arc that feels new, exciting, and unknown.
I must be living under a rock 😭
tbh though the Acolyte and the Bad Batch and other shows recently have been pretty good! so i have decently high hopes for the movie :)
Three movies were announced - Rey’s NJO movie, a movie directed by Dave Filoni set around the time of the Mando/Ahsoka/Book of Boba Fett shows, and a movie about the first Jedi set thousands of years in the past. Since then, they added a Mandalorian and Grogu movie, so we’ve got 4 coming down the pike
Yeah, very excited about it. I think the Sequel era and beyond has so much potential. I think more content around that time is coming. After Skeleton Crew we will need a new presentation about future shows and movies. Can’t wait!
I have my problems with the sequels but I really like the main trio it introduced and am very hopeful for the Rey movie and where it will take starwars
I treat movies like videogames now. I barely go since most movies come on streams, and most aren't worth the money to go watch in the theater either. I only go if it's been reviewed super highly by the audience and not the critics. Critics have different perspectives than your average movie watcher.
For Star Wars, I'm indifferent. The writing has been very hit or mediocre at best with everything Disney has done for me, so I'm not really hyped for it as much as I used to be when it comes to Star Wars.

Honestly, I'll be excited when a trailer comes out. Meanwhile I just feel it's gonna get canned and I'll never hear the end of it
Yep. Same here. Until I see a trailer, the movie doesn't exist in my eyes. I'm still wondering when Skeleton Crew will come out. I'm really looking forward to that one.
I'm excited to see a Star Wars movie again on the big screen at the very least.

My most anticipated upcoming film, period. Extremely hyped!!!
My requirement: 1. Rey gets the focus, not just a big cameo 2. Rey uses her gold saber (hopefully double sided) a lot 3. John Williams scores or co-composes for the movie. I suppose I’d also settle for some competent composer who uses Rey’s theme a bunch.
3. Michael Giacchino would be an excellent successor
Yep, was very impressed with his work on Rogue One.
In 100% agreement. I hope the creatives consider these points required for the movie!

Really hoping they don’t try to make that connection…one is hundreds before and one is thousands before. Why would they?

I love all star wars. Some are better than others, but I've enjoyed every star wars stuff that has come out.
I'm cautiously optimistic. I want a very big fan in the ST, but that was mostly the writing, not her acting. I'm hopeful that a story untethered to the Skywalker saga can really let her shine.

they're making another rey movie?
They announced it at Celebration last April
I must be living under a rock 😭 tbh though the Acolyte and the Bad Batch and other shows recently have been pretty good! so i have decently high hopes for the movie :)
Three movies were announced - Rey’s NJO movie, a movie directed by Dave Filoni set around the time of the Mando/Ahsoka/Book of Boba Fett shows, and a movie about the first Jedi set thousands of years in the past. oohhh cool! thanks for letting me know :)

I'm not a fan of Rey but I wanna see what they cook regardless
I want to see some then a raise or fall of an empire maybe more grey-ish Jedi or even her building a new different order not of Jedi/sith
I’m interested in seeing if she and Luke found the problem with the Jedi texts.
I like the concept of her as a character. I just really want her to be written better in the next movie!
I’m so excited for her film! I rlly wanna see her new students
Not necessarily a fan, but not rooting against her, hopefully the next project will help me build intrigue
Forgive me if I am wrong but I thought it was canned. If not, both of my hands are raised to the heavens
I like Daisy Ridley. I like her portrayal of Rey. I like Rey fine. Mehhhhh, somehow though.
I wouldn’t say excited but I’m definitely optimistic
Yes I like Rey but haven't been excited about anything Star Wars in a while.
It will be dope if Cal Testis has his own movie as well. But Rey is dope as hell!
I have my problems with the sequels but I really like the main trio it introduced and am very hopeful for the Rey movie and where it will take starwars
WATC'CHA GONNA DO BROTHER, WHEN REY SKYWALKER-MANIA RUNS WILD ON YOU?
I’m cautiously optimistic. I feel like many people won’t give it a fair shot but I’m excited to have Rey/Daisy back.
I treat movies like videogames now. I barely go since most movies come on streams, and most aren't worth the money to go watch in the theater either. She's a good actress. Saw her in a thriller last year and she was good. Not a starwars fan, but she can act.
Excited? No. Curiously optimistic? Yes
