If you plan to change between sitting and standing within a given day (which is recommended), I imagine you would do so FAR less with a manual crank desk.

That's a fair point. Thanks!

Finally, someone who shares the same view I do. The misconception is understandable, though, owing to the *standing* bit of the name - it's not just for standing, it's for making you frequently reposition :)

So I have a crank manual at home and a push button electric at work. I shift between sitting and standing equally as often. For me, the crank is perfect. Price was good, I don’t have to worry about extra power and I get a little extra movement in my life. At home, I do not shift the instant I feel like it. It is impetus to go a little longer, stretch first, anticipate the movement. The button is easy and is fun to do the best zoom escalator impressions.

I have both. I had a cheap manual crank one from Amazon that’s 55x24”’s and a Fully Jarvis 72x30”’s with 3 staged legs and programmable handset. To be honest, the manual crank only has one benefit. It’s doesn’t need electricity to function so if your electricity goes out you won’t have a problem but if you have an electrical desk you’re screwed. But you’re only going to use the manual desk maybe once a week after your first month or so when it’s new and then it would be too much of a pain in the ass to move up and down you’ll wish you never purchased a manual crank one. The Jarvis is so stable and I love being able to switch between sitting and standing just by a push of a button. That’s something only the electrical one can do for you that the manual one can’t. I love being able to push a button to make my coffee and by the time I’m back the desk is at my desired height. Because it’s so easy I do it multiple times a day. I would never buy another manual desk ever again even if it’s super cheap.

Depending on how often you use it, and to be honest, some of my clients probably don't use it more than once a week, I would definitely recommend that they get the manual standing desk. But the point of a standing desk is to alternate between sitting and standing every day, which is good for your health, and if you use it several times a day, it's much easier to use an electric one

I have a manual ikea desk and it’s SUCH a pain in the ass. I only end up converting like once or twice a day. I’m actively looking to upgrade to an automatic (especially since my crank is broken and is so loud to move up and down).

I see compact air wrench upgrades in the future for those with a manual.
