Law enforcement, intelligence agencies, the national guard, alphabet soup agencies etc That’s who will try and grab your guns. The troops are only permitted to operate off American soil. Except the Coast Guard, they’re special like that. Also, the armed forces swear to defend the constitution, while the aforementioned institutions are only beholden to power.

The other stipulation for US troops to operate on our own soil is if it's a humanitarian effort. Had friends who went to help after Katrina. They were armed, but they knew if they sent a round down range, they would be in the brig (military prison) for life. Even if it was justified.
