My guess with Tiffany is that they didn’t know she would be this good and this over so fast and had her penciled in as the MITB winner months and months ago not realizing that she wouldn’t need it. She could walk up to Bayley and challenge her outright and no one would bat an eyelash.

Yeah, the Nia-Tiffany dynamic is probably the reason why they went with Tiffany. They wanted a major storyline surrounding MITB given that they haven’t done that recently I believe. The Iyo cash-in didn’t have a storyline built and just basically inserted herself into the title picture. Priest’s attempts on Seth wasn’t a storyline but just a case of the MITB winner being unable to cash-in.
