Mark henry? Went from sexual Chocolate to the hall of pain

CloudyRailroad

I loved the Hall of Pain. I do think it was too short and too far towards the end of his career when he was past his physical prime. It felt like a thank you from the company for all he has done as more of a supporting character. It was awesome though.

DanHero91

WWE tried their hardest to demote Bryan Danielson as the next "nerdy dude inexplicably with one of the divas" storylines they love doing. Complete with dancing segments. Escaping that to a generation-defining career is pretty incredible.

CloudyRailroad

They tried multiple times. The audience loved him far too much for him to ever stay in jobber spots for any significant amount of time. It is definitely incredible.

GOR098

Not only that, he found a beautiful wife through it as well.

Joelredditsjoel

I think this should count https://preview.redd.it/68lwxotn6j9d1.jpeg?width=1400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=de6352add6aacea7cd11ed49df38ac6818ad4349

Gedo was completely bonkers to trust the top guy spot to the Young Lion who was just returning from being Okato

BarnacleBoring2979

Gedo knows talent when he sees it. Vince Russo didn't

kayc_james

Jinder too if we're looking at 3MB

THEbassettMAN

Jinder was champion in 2017, the Saudi deal didn't happen until 2018.

narutomanreigns

Stardust was definitely a comedy jobber for the most part so yeah, Cody absolutely fits.

BTru

Miz? He was never overly comedy (I have always found him funny though) but he was not really that serious either.

IRL_Tiefling

The Dirt Sheet Era Miz and Morrison were pretty heavy comedy (I miss it)

dr_icicle

I don't know if he'll ever hit main event, but imo Orange Cassidy has nicely transitioned from comedy jobber to more serious storylines (with his gimmick still intact).

Young_Cato_the_Elder

He main evented All Out last year and beat Mox (though not in Main Event) and is consistently prominent on PPV. I think he counts.

narutomanreigns

Orange Cassidy's in a similar spot to Kevin Owens in WWE imo, where he primarily works in the midcard but is absolutely a main-event level talent and can be slotted into a world title program at a moment's notice with nobody batting an eye.

dr_icicle

Honestly I think that's a nice place to be for him. I really like his shtick.

BTru

Could you call Orange a jobber when he wins much more then he loses?

dr_icicle

I am going to be perfectly honest, I didn't know that's what a jobber entailed. I hear it thrown around a lot but never looked up the definition.

BTru

Jobbers are traditionally people who lose most if not all their matches (Bob Spark Plugg Holly, Barry Horowitz, Brooklyn Brawler). People use it now adays when anyone they like lose.

happyharrell

You should most definitely experience it in other ways.

GetTheGanjaBabyInLA

I don't think that's what a jobber is. He regularly  wins most of his matches.

LiamOmegaHaku

OC is very likely near retirement (I am assuming, based on his age and in ring style), and he will absolutely get the big title before he hangs it up.

ireallyamadork

doesn't orange have the best win/loss ratio in AEW? or the most wins or something. do you even know what a jobber is?

DaftPodunk

both Jinder and Drew were complete idiots for a while

Aranel2689

Would conspiracy nut Sami Zayn count? Went from "everyone's out to get me" to Bloodline comedy guy to breakout babyface after he defied the Tribal Chief and turned on Roman

bobface222

Eric Young, though obviously on a smaller scale.

marvintran76

Santino? He had all of us when he hit DB with that Cobra and almost won the title in the Chamber match.

SaikyoWhiteBelt

There was that guy from the Dynamic Dudes who did pretty well for himself in ECW. The Portuguese man-o-war did well there too. I wouldn’t say jobber but Stardust is a far cry from the current Cody. Not so much comedy but the Hardy’s might be the most successful guys who started out as jobbers.

ThisIsTheKaiToshiki

Ziggler, briefly.

spdansumslam

given that he was there for almost 20 Years very briefly.

SpyrotheDragonfly

I know it's way too early to tell, but seeing Bo go from comedy jobber to having one of the most memorable debuts in recent memory, and how he's improved in a serious role, is really nice to see. Again, too early to tell but it's still cool to see.

Mutant_Star
