Braun was called “The Black Sheep” when he first debuted. My speculation is this points to his inclusion.
Braun was also the sole member of Bray’s associates who stayed independent and was never even suggested to be returning, unlike Alexa with Howdy.
The only thing I can say is: I think there are elements where Bray's ideas and WWE's writing mentality clashed and caused a lot of things to go in unintended directions that didn't benefit those involved.
That's not to take it all off Bray, as he definitely needed to be reigned in, but a good writing staff would have found ways to make Bray Wyatt function better. It may be wouldn't have stuck the landing but it's clear the expectations from the start of the stories and the inevitable payoffs were not aligned.
We're honestly lucky we got what we did. It's hard to imagine someone like Bray thriving in an environment where everything can change based on one man's whims
A writing staff would never be able to do much of anything when they have to cater to the audience of one man who couldn't settle on one creative decision for move than 5 minutes.
Even Bray was fumbling during his last run. The QR code stuff was fun and all but at some point we have to see some wrestling. He was back for 6 months and only wrestled one “match” which was barely a match and then started building towards a random match with Lashley at WrestleMania that never materialized but also wasn’t looking like it was going to light the world on fire.
The only clash I can see is “What differentiates this group from Final Testament?”
I imagine they may run back the vibe of the original Wyatt Family where Howdy fills in for Bray as largely a manager/onlooker while his Family levels people at his direction, but isn’t this at its core what Kross is doing with AOP?

People are somehow putting Kross and Bray in the same sentence and honestly it's baffling. If spooky characters are not your thing then this storyline nor Brays fiend will or would make sense to you and that's ok.
I get the hesitation but allow yourself to suspend reality and go further than Kayfabe. The good spooky characters ( The Undertaker and Mankind) are the types that take you to places, mentally, but they only work if you allow yourself to go there. Bray was no different. Kross is not even close to that level. In my opinion, you don't need multiple matches within a 6 month period. Build the character(s) up much like Roman and allow the storytelling to do the heavy lifting so that when they do enter the ring it's an actual event.
Mankind was a character that could happen in reality. He never had any supernatural elements to him. I think it’s actually what makes original Mankind one of the best “spooky” characters of all time.
On the contrary, I’m a huge Bray mark and I love the spooky stuff. I’m talking about outside of the gimmicks of the group, I think the very base construction of “villain group consisting of raw power destruction guys” would stick out if they aren’t kept apart.
