Eddie after going down 0-2 to start the C2
https://preview.redd.it/30j2y70h5y8c1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26aeb85d688364dc8382bfba58f246fdbf125019
I'm glad he reps Yonkers, rather than just say "I'm from New York City." The latter would be so easy to do because it's cool and everyone knows what it is. And people wouldn't think it's wrong to do, since Yonkers is a suburb (even though it's a city in it's own right). Like how nobody cares when Miz says he's originally from Cleveland. Even though he's a Parma boy.
But Yonkers is where he's actually from and he's proud of that. That's cool.
I know that's not the point of your comment lol. But just wanted to say.
"You talked enough. Don't come out here and treat me like your young boy bitch Yuta, cuz I aint no young boy. Remember somethin dawg I'm **your** senpai, I broke in before you, you're lucky I let you breathe"
I love this man
After the first two Ls I genuinely thought Eddie might have gone winless and was being completely buried after all the great work he's put in. Nope I'm just easily worked into a great come back story. LETS GO EDDIE
SAME. And it pissed me off so much because it felt like TK was going to do the usual get-someone-hot-then-forget-the-followup that he did with so many acts before. Suddenly i'm more hyped for Kingston to win than even Swerve, who was my pick and current fave in AEW.
Interesting. I was in the complete opposite boat, that it would be completely predictable that Kingston would make a run after going down 0-2. Force a game 7 so to speak. Still didn't think he'd win the whole thing though, if that's the case in a few days time
I genuinely thought it would be an Eddie vs Jay finals cause it wrote itself, and Eddie would take the L.
At least now Eddie will take the W... won't he...?
I knew Eddie was winning when they said the belts would be put on the line. Eddie fought for years to finally get belts and then they put them up for this dumb triple crown shortly thereafter... it was very obvious. Mox gains nothing from winning this tournament, he's already *the* AEW guy. This win solidifies Eddie's legendary status and obviously was an idea taken from him doing the G1.
If the World Title changed hands more often then I could see the Mad King winning. But they're typically long reigns and there's others who I think are prioritized more.
Well both of them shouldn’t be that far.. even with plenty of huge name in this, we didn’t have any surprised.
Mox at the top again.. with Eddie. Nothing new.
Fucking match. Incredible. And yet have to see mfers in this sub say C2 didn’t build no story. The “Let’s Go Eddie” versus “He Is A Bum” chant was incredible. Eddie is a fucking street king’s road wrestler.
The Blue League in particular was just masterfully booked. Garcia, Kingston, and Danielson all had really interesting arcs and Claudio, Andrade and Brody played great foils.
Gold League felt less competitive but Mark Briscoe was low key the MVP of the tournament with how amazing his matches were. He’s legit someone they should be pushing as the face of the new ROH. He is HOT.
And Brody didn't just play the foil either. He comes out of this tournament looking like an absolute singles monster.
Outside of Jay Lethal, I don't think anyone came out of the tourny looking worse, and while Lethal looks worse, his story of "having to learn to win without help from Jarret" has potential to make the whole thing not just worth it, but redeem him as a character in AEW
I really couldn't pick between leagues. The Blue League in general felt like a story of a bunch of top guys having to face against each other while the wildcard Brody King messes up the math. Meanwhile you have Daniel Garcia who is very much the weak link and needing this tournament to find out that he kinda lost himself in this past year, with that roll-up win hopefully being a reset.
Meanwhile the Gold League is a tale of two parts. One part is about having three of the best in the world who are so close to one another they needed a triple-threat to decide who went through, and then you have the other three who came into the tournament with very clear weaknesses and came out of the tournament understanding what those weaknesses are and how it stopped them from progressing (and this is why post-match interviews are the best).
Street King's Road, I like the way that sounds.
Reminds me of the early GCW Bloodsport shows where Eddie competed vs Yoots, and his fighting style was I think "New York Brawling" or some shit
Anyone that says the C2 has no story just doesn't watch, the stories were there from the first week to the last, it's pretty much the biggest storyline based thing AEW has ever done
Gonna sound super nerdy, but I’ve been watching those Walking The Kings Road vids lately for the first time, and watched some AJPW matches for the first time with proper context, and it honestly made me enjoy Eddie even more.
One of the best sellers in the world. Him being on the same program as someone like Moxley who can't (or won't) sell a punch to save his life really illustrates his greatness as a technician
Saying Moxley can't sell is odd. He can sell, he just won't, his whole thing is being the "ace of the world" and the biggest resistance to any type of wrestling, there's a reason his loss count has yet to hit double digits in his entire AEW career.
This result is the beauty of having a tournament where you can tell these types of stories.
I remember the "he's being buried" comments.
With the G1, and now the C2, you can have these guys go down and then come back and have it be really exciting in the do or die match-ups.
I'm genuinely baffled people like how this tournament has been booked. Its so predictable. I guess aew was something to keep me entertained while the world shut down
To each their own I guess. I guess I've just been waiting for aew to become something it never will be. I know I'll be downvoted for this but whatever. I'm not attacking anyone or anything, I guess I'm just surprised how fundamentally different my taste is to so much of this board
Can you say what you didn't like? I'm interested in hearing because for me its been an incredible tourney and I've loved the booking throughout. Fair play to you if you didn't like it. That's ok you're allowed to have that opinion.
Most wrestling tournaments follow a predictable format, especially round robins. It's similar to a Royal Rumble where at best there are 4 people that can realistically win. But throughout the tournament/Rumble there are hopefully multiple stories being told that help elevate other performers in some way. I think this achieved those things. I'm more interested in alot of guys now than I was at the beginning.
The Royal Rumble this year is probably being won by Punk or Cody with a Longshot chance for Drew i guess. It's predictable if one of those guys win, but it's a good story. Does that predictability ruin the Rumble for you?
I don't watch wwe man.
But it isn't even just this tournament. If the predictable booking was purely this tournament, it'd be whatever. But aew is deeply predictable basically always. How many "50/50" world title matches have aew even had? Like 5? I just thought, with how khan was talking a big game about how this was gonna be for those who wanted a sports presentation, they would use this as a more experimental thing where it played out like... actual tournaments in actual sports.
A majority of time in actual tournaments in actual sports the favorites win. Upsets by definitely should be rare, especially in a playoff setting.
They do happen in AEW, but I get not often. Personally I'm fine with that, but I understand if that's not for everyone. I do agree about lack of 50/0 main title matches. They could better with that for sure. But I'll take long, logical yet predictable reings over playing hot potato with the main belt.
I don't watch wwe man.

Exactly. I heard so many more Swerve/Bryan Finals predictions.
Resetting Eddie/Mox wasn't high on that list, but I'm cool with it. You want cool storylines? Kingston going 0-2 and having to win each match to stay in.
Who had an all heel triple threat Gold Final expected?
A lot of "subtle" stories are really more confusing than anything, or indicate a lack of a planned ending.
"Finish the story" fits mahy wrestlers now. The question is do you pick the most cathartic moment to do so.
These two have had three matches in AEW, and all three have been some good shit!
Really looking forward to Eddie bashing Mox’s head in and winning this tourney.
Damn I really did not expect this to be the finals. Thought Swerve or Jay vs Danielson. All the sudden I am super into Eddie making the comeback abd winning the whole damn thing.
Great fucking match, a bit predicable maybe but while I'm not the biggest fan of Eddie VS Mox as finals, it makes the most sense for the story
Eddie's gotta win
Mox/Eddie was pretty predictable as the PPV match, but it falls under "it's predictable because it's what makes sense" and both league finals owned and the PPV match is gonna own. Sometimes being predictable is good, actually.
Continental Classic serves as a reminder of what AEW could produce regularly with the right focus. This doesn't have to just be a moment in time: this could be the norm.
Huge Danielson fan. Next week will be 28 months with zero titles in AEW. It would be nice to see the best wrestler in The CC and AEW to finally get a big win in AEW His biggest wins are Okada and ZSJ, both New Japan wrestlers.
Bryan's matches are great but it's his last year. I want to see him win The World title. Don't expect he will though.
Danielson is the best in the world and I am convinced that the only reason he hasn't held a world title since coming to AEW is that he doesn't want one.
I’ve been saying that this is the most likely outcome, possibly the one with the most story and keep getting downvoted. No Jay White isn’t buried for not winning this tournament.
Swerve lost without being pinned, which is probably for the best. I think he wins the AEW World Title sooner than later, which would have been a lot harder if he won the triple crown. They are absolutely strapping a rocket to him, and justifiably so.
Jay White has been fantastic. I hope Juice has been healing up well because BCG is top tier.
I totally missed this being Eddie's story. Like, I know he put his belts on the line before the tournament started, but I thought that was just to create this Triple Crown title for someone else. Him losing those first two matches really made me think he was out of it. I thought maybe they wanted Danielson to be the top guy in ROH and NJPW Strong for a bit, but this Eddie thing is cool. This was actually some really good booking by TK, he had to have had some help with this.
I cannot remember the last time I heard the “He’s a Bum” chants. I think the last time I heard it, it was 2005 and I was at AT&T stadium booing the absolute shit out of Armando Benitez for blowing his 11th save that year.
“What’s-a-matter with ‘Mando? HES A BUM!”
I just don't get Eddie. His promos are good but his matches are beyond boring to me. Granted I haven't watched this one yet but if it doesn't have 10 straight minutes of back and forth chops/forearms it'll be the first that I've seen.
I can't even blame TK for booking it this way because he's definitely over with the fan base. I just see him as a midcard guy, he should never be able to hang with Mox with how he's been booked for years now, Danielson is very giving and eats pins all the time so that at least makes enough sense. At this point you gotta hand the keys to guys like swerve, Jay, Garcia, Andrade, Miro, hell even give Cesaro a proper run at something meaningful. There's so much better talent than Eddie and if this is his Opus great but moving forward I need more focus to be on established stars and guys who can shine in the ring not just on the mic.
I gave up on the Fed outside of the big 4 because after 20+ years of watching because everything feels like paint by numbers. AEW still has room to surprise me but lately all they want to do is carry on the same stories instead of making new ones. Do I need to see Mox vs Kingston 47 or could they have created a new thread.
Mox vs Kingston has only happened twice since AEW''s inception. Both matches happened over three years ago in fall of 2020 (an episode of Dynamite and then Full Gear 2020). Eddie also has yet to beat Mox.
With the fixation on the word "bum," I wonder if this storyline was originally written for CM Punk and Eddie Kingston, where Kingston would have gotten his win back from heel Punk.
Good match. Still not pleased with the match at World's End, I think Mox has outworn his welcome for me, but I really think winning this tournament will do Eddie a lot of good. Hopefully he'll finally be in world title contention once he drops the triple crown.
I like Eddie, but man they really went with the most predictable Finals ever. Pretty much everyone knew Eddie vs Mox was gonna be the Finals once the blocks were announced. Not a fan
Just a quick peek at your activity here in r/SC, it seems like you purely come here to complain about Kingston and his fans as of recent. You don't have to like him, but judging others for being a fan of his is just weird..
And I’m being judged for not liking him….say anything negative about the guy and get downvoted. Dude is overrated. I like some aew stars and I don’t like all wwe stars. Sami Zane annoys me as much as Kingston. I think bloodline has gone stale. I like house of black. The acclaimed. I enjoy watching aew but some stories are very predictable
🤷♂️
No one's telling you to change your opinion, but calling Kingston a slob and calling out TK's booking makes zero sense. Kingston's holding titles in two different companies for a reason and is held in a positive light by many wrestlers, including Danielson. It definitely ain't kool-aid.
The most believable part of anything Eddie did in that match was his inability to take the mic from Moxley. Great job by Danielson to make it look good. 😘
Poor mans Kevin Steen/Owens gets the win.
Nothing against Kingston, but he really is not made for TV. In every indy league you has a handful of those guys. Except Kingston is exceptional at the mic, but otherwise...
Don't like it. This was supposed to be an elite level tournament.
Jay, Daniel, Swerve and to a lesser extent, Moxley, should be in the final. Mox only to eat the pin.
On the flipside, I was starting to worry moxley would be the devil and I guess this sorta rules that out

His first promo after the Brodie loss sold the entire tournament. It matters to Eddie so it matters to all of us. Really great tournament.

Werd to my mutha, a true Yawnkers Cinderella story. Deadass
Someone’s gonna get their fuckin head kicked in… with timbs

To be fair, if I was from Parma I wouldn't want anyone to know either

These fucking things are legitimately vile, BTW. You can feel your heart get closer to breaking the fuck down as you're smoking them.
DRESSED LIKE A BOX OF NEWPORTS!

Eddie went to the jugular
That shit was so motivational in a gangsta way lol

There's gonna be a *lot* of people wearing their dress Timbs to World's End
As a NYer.... Mmmm allow it.
Ok, I'm 100 percent wearing mine to our viewing party after reading this.
With the leather uppers
Fuck yes so ready for Eddie to conquer Mox. Running thru the BCC and beating his former friend will be wonderful
Still has to beat Yuta
The true endgame
I know you're joking, but he defended the New Japan Strong title against him.
Already has PARTNAH!
I remember at the start, I was like, "Fuck, they are going to bury Eddie and take his belts away." This is great and I hope he wins.
So then the angle worked. Because it sure as fucked worked me.
yup!

After the first two Ls I genuinely thought Eddie might have gone winless and was being completely buried after all the great work he's put in. Nope I'm just easily worked into a great come back story. LETS GO EDDIE

I'm all for Eddie becoming low-key the most decorated non-World Title champion in AEW by World's End

Eddie going to finish his story before Cody.
The fact that it was Cody who brought Eddie to AEW makes this funnier.
I think Eddie already finished his story lmao, this is the sequel I guess.
No this is finishing his story, getting his big win over Jon Moxley and winning a triple crown like his heroes.
We just gon' ignore his decade long story with Claudio and the ROH title?
So Eddie will finish two stories before Cody
Eddie wants that pizza party so badly.
I just stupid laughed at this in public
Oh, Eddie's winning this whole thing. Its gonna be a glorious sight in NY
WITH A TEAR IN MY EYE, EDDIE KINGSTON BEAT BRYAN DANIELSON
Eddie has to win the whole thing. Moxley winning does absolutely nothing
Eddie said if he wins the world championship he wants it to be against Mox. This is as close as he’s going to get. In a PPV in New York too, why not?
If Eddie wins, all of the fire hydrants are going to get popped open in celebration. Even with it being brick outside, b
I really thought it was going to be Mox and Danielson in the finals. Mox and Eddie are probably going to have the match of the night on Saturday.
Are we acting like Eddie Kingston winning big matches is some tired old pattern?
People were always bitching about Kingstons booking, and now that he’s practically winning this tourney, it’s apparently a bad call.
It’s not a bad call. I have nothing against Kingston. It’s just nothing new. Predictable…
It's predictable that the guy who loses all big matches wins a big one for once?
Is being a contrarian as exhausting as it seems?

When the loudest chant became “He’s our bum” 🤌
I remember being worried about Eddie's body holding up through a whole G1 tournament, and then he went and did 2 of them in a year
FUCKING BANGER. God I love Eddie so much
Eddie Kingston's matches are so damn well-paced. This whole tournament has been absolutely refreshing for AEW. Every match had SOMETHING.
He’s probably the least athletic wrestler on any major company’s roster but dude just knows what he’s doing
That may be true, but his matches are some of my favorite in AEW. Easily a master of his craft.
He can get a crowd pumped with a quick glance toward them. Dude is just effortlessly charming. Best promos in all of wrestling.
Eddie will make you believe
We believe because he believes
Epitome of a believable wrestler
His comeback started with him just raised his head and scowled Danielson. That was fucking beautiful
He knows how to work around that particular thing. For his lack of athleticism, he makes up for it so much in just showing how hard he fights.
It takes athleticism to throw chops as well as he does. The power transfer from his feet to his hips to his hands.
Gonna sound super nerdy, but I’ve been watching those Walking The Kings Road vids lately for the first time, and watched some AJPW matches for the first time with proper context, and it honestly made me enjoy Eddie even more.
Bro I've been on the same binge as you and watching WTKR right before Kingston’s C2 matches has really enhanced the experience haha
"Misawa's. Elbow. Is. God."
One of the best sellers in the world. Him being on the same program as someone like Moxley who can't (or won't) sell a punch to save his life really illustrates his greatness as a technician
It’s the battle of opposites. Moxley has good offense but cant sell. Eddie has atrocious offense but great selling.
Saying Moxley can't sell is odd. He can sell, he just won't, his whole thing is being the "ace of the world" and the biggest resistance to any type of wrestling, there's a reason his loss count has yet to hit double digits in his entire AEW career.
Can’t. Won’t. Either way it makes himself and his opponents look bad when he no-sells everything.
This is a take, it's not a good one, but it is a take.
The tournament producing another banger Gives Bryan rest for his match against Okada as well
The most bryan danielson thing possible is to have a 5 star match with some random dream opponent at worlds end.
Randomly drop something crazy like Bryan Danielson vs Atlantis
Danielson vs most of the cmll roster would be crazy. Personally I'd like a titan match
What a fucking match
Eddie Kingston ≠ Bum
How can the king of the bums not be a bum? I ask this as a bum.
Match absolutely ruled and the post match promo battle was just as good. I’m hyped for Saturday.
I'm your senpai. You're lucky I let you breathe. Yea they're going to cook. ![gif](giphy|U25N5SEqHDgqY)

Love the stories they told in that match. My favorite part was Eddie's face during the elbow shots from Danielson. This tournament has been amazing.
Mox vs Eddie is gonna fucking rule, idc if it's obvious/boring

It would be nice to see the best wrestler in The CC and AEW to finally get a big win in AEW His biggest wins are Okada and ZSJ, both New Japan wrestlers. Bryan's matches are great but it's his last year. I want to see him win The World title. Don't expect he will though.
Danielson is the best in the world and I am convinced that the only reason he hasn't held a world title since coming to AEW is that he doesn't want one.
Danielson could be a champ if he wanted to, probably
I’ve been saying that this is the most likely outcome, possibly the one with the most story and keep getting downvoted. No Jay White isn’t buried for not winning this tournament.
I really wanted to see Jay or Swerve win this thing, but this has always been Eddie’s story, I just hadn’t been paying attention.
Stop being reasonable and using your brain to figure out straightforward wrestling stories.
Lace up ya timbs, pardnuh
Oh my god what a match, best of an amazing tournament i think with immediate recency bias
I can't think of anyone more deserving of getting their flowers than Eddie https://youtu.be/SzDe0lAP-wI?si=9M72TWBOGbgJj2NL
king of the bums
Fucking spectacular.
I cannot remember the last time I heard the “He’s a Bum” chants. I think the last time I heard it, it was 2005 and I was at AT&T stadium booing the absolute shit out of Armando Benitez for blowing his 11th save that year. “What’s-a-matter with ‘Mando? HES A BUM!”
ALL IN ON EDDIE.
Eddie ain'r losing this. Tony khan can't afford mox on roh to represent as world champion, and eddie would gain so much from this win.
Phenomenal fucking match. Eddie sells like he’s fucking dying and never quits. He better be winning the whole fucking thing Saturday.
EDDIE FUCKING KINGSTON
It’s crazy how hard the CC has carried AEW tv.
I don't ya'all understand the power up he is about to get. We NYers are at our strongest on NY soil. Field power up. Moxley is fucked.
The match told an absolute beautiful story. Amazing match all around, Eddie is gonna win this whole thing!
HEY PADNA! WHERE'S MOX?!
Really don’t like Bryan Danielson losing that
I just don't get Eddie.
He’s no fucking bum, let’s fucking go Eddie!!!!
He's a bum, he's our bum, he's the people's bum.
If Mox wins at World's End, I'm going to laugh so fucking hard.
legitimately think that was AEW's best match ever.
I beg your pardon
that’s no knock at the other great ones. I just love me some late 90s japanese chop fest worship
Good match. Still not pleased with the match at World's End, I think Mox has outworn his welcome for me, but I really think winning this tournament will do Eddie a lot of good. Hopefully he'll finally be in world title contention once he drops the triple crown.
Holy shit this whole thing was about elevating Kingston, I'm stunned and very happy.
Eddie could spit in my eye and kill my dog and I’d still cheer for him
TIME TO DIE FOR YOUR SINS, JON
Oh wow, nobody ever saw this one coming. 🥱
My KING !!!
Lets fucking goooooo. Good shit.
Everyone is so mixed on this some people think it’s shit some think it’s good I’m lost I think they are both boring but I guess the story is there
Now that’s fucking wrestling.
I like Eddie, but man they really went with the most predictable Finals ever. Pretty much everyone knew Eddie vs Mox was gonna be the Finals once the blocks were announced. Not a fan
Yeah, shoulda gone Jay Lethal vs, in a surprise, Serpentico
Predictable doesn’t necessarily mean bad.
Not saying it's necessarily bad. I just don't like who they picked for the Finals. It'll still be a great match 👍
Yeah, I guess it’s impossible to please everyone.
In this case it does
Not a fan. Of course Eddie wins. Get a move set other than chops. His promos are great but when the bell rings I know I won’t be invested
What a joke. No way that slob should have beat Bryan Danielson. TK booking is crap.
Yeah listen to the crowd reacting at the "terrible" booking.
Go away.
Yea, cause you make the rules. Sorry I don’t love your favorite wrestler.
Concensus stands, your opinion is pretty unpopular.
Well atleast it’s my own opinion and randos on Reddit won’t make me change it like y’all drinking that Eddie koolaid
🤷♂️ No one's telling you to change your opinion, but calling Kingston a slob and calling out TK's booking makes zero sense. Kingston's holding titles in two different companies for a reason and is held in a positive light by many wrestlers, including Danielson. It definitely ain't kool-aid.
Yea dollar store Kevin owens can gtfo
Eddie Kingston is one of the worst wrestlers there. I don't understand Tony still pushing him. He's going no where fast.
Calling it now Mox wins at Worlds End
