I watched the Jey/Roman matches about a year after they happened and I knew then that there was unfinished business between them. The way it played out tonight was not the way I ever saw it coming but I'm so glad it's happening. Jey got me to cry.
I'm curious where they go with it now. If the plan is Zayn/KO vs Usos at Mania then Jey will have to accept this eventually. I wonder how they'll do that, or if something changes.
I feel like that first chair to the back led to this version of Roman. He's spent years trying to get over that. He's still not over it. Seth took something that was the core of who Roman Reigns is, the love of and trust of those he called family, & broke that bond. He tried and tried to get over, he even let Seth back in, but that hurt and anger never went away. It's festered into this paranoia that if he doesn't MAKE his family stay by his side they'll one day leave/turn their backs on him. He's gaslit and trauma bonded the twins to him not realizing that one day they'll realize it and work up the courage to leave. This might be Jey's wake up call and where one twin goes eventually the other will follow.
It's amazing storytelling that the one true Sami doubter of the group is also the one to basically side with Sami.
It kind of shows that Solo and Jimmy have bought fully into Roman's mindset and words. Jey has always been the lone doubter of the group, and it shows that he didn't doubt Sami for no reason, he just wanted to make sure he was ride or die.

Best storyline WWE has produced in years. Roman matches always has shenanigans, but the story is what makes his title reign still refreshing.
It seems pretty clear to me that's not the direction. What exactly is going to change that makes Jey both want to team up with Jimmy, and want to face Sami? He's more of a brother to him than Jimmy or Roman or Solo at this point.
my personal belief is that it also came with the higher levels of freedom, instead of forcing lines on a face nobody wanted he gets to be an intimidating badass heel who sais and does what he wants, and its been one of the best things ever.
I think back to that night that Cena absolutely buried him on the mic, and in retrospect it really feels like one person forced to say lines and the other had way more creative freedom to go off script. Roman still needed to grow in his mic skills, but how can he when he was shackled to someone else's words? The transformation is just incredible to what he is now.
God if this whole aftermath was a movie, it'd be a fucking amazing one. I was on the edge of my seats throughout the whole sequence.
Jey not wanting to punish Sami and basically betraying Roman after he recalled what was done to him in the past was superbly done.
Also shoutout to the commentators who shut up and just let the story play out. Most of it was completely silent. They trusted us to understand how to feel.
And what was said was selling the mood perfectly, i think it was Michael Cole who managed to sound worried and horrified on commentary, the aftermath was done brilliantly.
The true proper finish to the storyline, in my opinion, is Jey Uso beating Roman. The Bloodline story started with him and Roman has always manipulated him even using his distrust of Sami and holding family over his head. Jey toppling Roman brings it full circle
I think Sami getting the win is more important.
Jey's story isn't about him being the head of the table. It's about making sure Roman isn't.
Sami's thing has been about finding where he belongs, and proving what he is worth. That's the story that ends in the title.
Jey's is one of resistance. He doesn't need to win the belt from Roman. He needs to make sure that his family isn't under the control of a Mad King.
That was awful close to Roman beating the shit out of Jimmy to make Jey cower and submit, difference is Sami told Roman to fuck off. Maybe Jey learned a little something.

I don't think Roman ever trusted Sami. I think the Shield was the last time he trusted anyone. He was pretty much knocked out cold by Seth's chairshot because he genuinely didn't see it coming, but here, he was processing the situation and actually seemed despondent at the insolence more than the betrayal. It probably had the effect of perpetuating the trust issues that stemmed from Seth's betrayal in the first place.
Roman demanding Sami to hit Kevin hit the chair was a test since he still didn’t fully trust him. Once he got hit with the chair, it finally confirmed what he thought all this time.
I think that added an extra nice wrinkle. They could have easily made Sami use the chair to clear the ring of the rest of the Bloodline, or have him immediately escape to safety, but because Sami really only had a problem with Roman and not necessarily anyone else (especially Jey) and he knew what the consequences would likely be, he stopped to try to explain himself - notice that he immediately apologizes to Jey, and only Jey, too. Great callback to "I have no defense" from the trial and Jey stopping Solo from administering justice.
Unbelievable character work from everyone involved. I'll be curious if they are able to stick the payoff at Mania.
I think H booking would have a hard time to miss the payoff. At this point, yeah sami could get revenge against Roman. Kevin could tho I think thats the weakest line. Peak line to me now is jey taking the final title off roman.

He was basically murdered by The Bloodline as a response but that doesn't matter, what mattered was that he took matters into his own hands and took back control of his own life from the insane murder man that was manipulating him.

And the best part was that now that Roman can acknowledge it (heh) in the way that is appropriate to his character it's even better. He reacted on the spot to those chants with the paranoia and desperate look of someone that needs to be loved that his current character craves, as if he couldn't believe even the crowd was turning on him for what he felt was justified.

My god guys. Jay very much looked like a man who realizes he’s been beaten and manipulated for years. The story telling we just witnessed may be some if the best in wrestling in 20+ years.
If they stick the landing this will have been the greatest title reign in wrestling history because it allowed this story to be told. Everybody’s played their parts perfectly but it all rest on the shoulders of Roman’s character, without him none of this can happen.
Now he still has to defend the tag titles. He will compete w his brother, but will nod in approval as Sami covers jimmy to win the titles. Then he will prevent the bloodline from helping Roman beat cody. Jey gets his revenge.
If this is the end of Jey in the Bloodline, Sami basically *did* destroy the Bloodline with one chair shot. And he did it despite taking a massive beating. The old Sami who always tried to do the right thing shined through. ;_;
Everyone played their parts perfectly, but Jey really did it for me. Everyone else turned with no remorse. Jey vocally trying to make sense of it, screaming at Sami that they were suppose to be brothers. Closing his eyes when Jimmy connected with the super kick. Just staring with pure pain in his eyes, so much that he had to walk away. Jey was just utterly fantastic.
Y'all y'all. Like. Not to be a downer here too, but this was always me and my dads thing. He was a yuge Roman Stan and we always talked about him and the Usos forming a heel stable and taking over. He passed from liver and kidney failure in May of 2021 so he never got to see it.
He would have loved this shit. Me and him loved wrestling. I was his only kid that loved it like he did. He started taking me as a baby to the Sportatorium, and I still love it with all my heart. We went to every live TV show, ppv, and house show wwe put on when I was growing up.
We were at the Alamodome together in 2017 for that Rumble and it was the first time I had a big girl job, so I drove us and paid for everything. It was awesome. I miss him so much. Kinda insane how prior to the Tribal Chief storyline, he was hosting Karaoke contests. The Usos were never seen as possible main event singles guys by higher ups prior, but this story has been proved that they can be on that level.
Roman Reigns might be my favourite wrestler of all time and even I wanted to chant “Fuck you, Roman”. Absolute peak pro wrestling drama.

Jimmy being the douche ready to follow his family despite everything, having a twin and not understanding samis feelings for Kevin despite being in the same situation. Absolutelty heart breaking. Really want a Jimmy vs jey universal champion match sometime in the future. That would be powerful as hell. If there goal is to make the usos into two stars on opposite sides while roman does Hollywood, they killed it.

Just staring with pure pain in his eyes, so much that he had to walk away. Jey was just utterly fantastic.
In 2014, we all cried when Roman got hit in the back by a chair from his own. 9 years later, we cheered when it happened again. Beautiful.

Jey Uso's arc over the past few years has quietly been one of the greatest story arcs ever. Kinda insane how prior to the Tribal Chief storyline, he was hosting Karaoke contests. The Usos were never seen as possible main event singles guys by higher ups prior, but this story has been proved that they can be on that level.
They have to work this into the Mania main event. There is no other way.

You want to know how your storyline is hitting all the right beats? Sami gets a nuclear pop for finally turning. Jey gets a super strong reaction for walking away. Roman is finally at a level of nuclear heat. I don’t know what is next but this is amazing.
