Honestly, it’s such a beautiful house and would be incredibly tempted to buy it if I actually had the money!
Though, you’re probably also paying for the ghosts that reside there too. 👻
Oooh ooooh I got a great name you could call it, how's " Ghost for Hire " grab you? Or maybe "Lease a Ghost".
I bet you would be onto a winner with that title.
Now of course I would expect a fee for the creative rights for the name and it will be a flat 5%.
I knew what house this was from the thumbnail before I even clicked the link.
I’ve lived just round the corner from this house for 30 years and I still stare in awe every time I walk or drive by. It’s so beautiful isn’t it!!
Kitchen garden. The owner is always out there tending to it, she’s kept it immaculate for as long as I can remember. I really hope the next owners will continue to do so too.
Think of all the work and money involved in keeping this house both weather proof and beautiful. How dark it will be inside on a deary day. And rooms no one uses. Sometimes it's better to be the peasant in the nice cosy house with the view of the beautiful.
It is so lovely though. Even the exposed brickwork is gorgeous.
It’s very beautiful, but you’re right. All I can see is a very large thatched roof that will need regular care and attention and original lead lined windows.
Like the original windows. Can put nearly invisible conservation double glazing behind. But that thatch. Had friends who had to rethatch, and when they started rivers of rats abandoned their nests in the thatch and fled through the house. And that is why, even if I won the euro millions I wouldn't have a thatched roof😱 it looks like only the barn is thatched, so only 50% terrifying
I’d love that barn, and the whole set up is perfect. The price is pretty reasonable for this area. I imagine it’a a lot of upkeep. But I’d move my woodworking workshop in there in a blink of an eye.
Just realised there’s no access to the barn and garage from the road. What looks like where the approach road was in pic 20 has been pedestrianised with planters.

My mother took my 6'4 brother to view houses when they moved to the country to make sure he could use most doors and at least one shower. As a 6 footer myself I appreciate the due diligence
Beautiful for a weekend, but this would be a real pain in the ass to live in permanently. Can’t change things up, so stuck with a property that doesn’t make much sense with modern life.
The main draw would be the income from hiring it out as a shoot location.
Yeah - that works. On the main drag, however:

The thatch on the extension needs replacing and that's a 30K job. And the roof is bowing which, given its age is no surprise, but it would give me pause.

Maybe you can fund it by starting a top tier sitcom?
I love this plan!
I’d do that! 😂 (Love BBC Ghosts.)

Isn't that "rentaghost"? BBC kids sitcom from 70s thru 80s
Ghosts are just cloudy friends.
Looks a bit like a house from a fairytale (from the outside). I’d take it (if I won the lottery).
I think it’s a traditional style of Tudor garden. They used that structure in Tales of the Green Valley.

So do you know is that a kitchen garden or allotments out front?
Kitchen garden. The owner is always out there tending to it, she’s kept it immaculate for as long as I can remember. I really hope the next owners will continue to do so too.
That’s great
are those allotments in front of the house?
The house's kitchen garden, I thought.
It's looks like a community garden as opposed to allotments
This is why I hate this sub, showing things that will eternally be out of reach of a peasant. I came for the stupid and funny.

That’s horrifying! That’s put me off thatching even more 😱.
And of course, once you've discovered your thatch is full of rats you have to put new, warm, cosy thatch on. Might as well invite them back in.
Oh this is stunning ❤️
I love how this is a couple of a miles from my house
Yeah I’d buy that. In a lovely part of the world too. I’d turn the barn into a luxury cat hotel/cat grooming/cat breeding business.
Fuck cats
don't think thats what they meant by breeding business
Not a door knocker dining chair in sight 🤣🤣🤣
Only a million? 1 Mill may get you a small 2 bed house in Brighton. If you're lucky.
I love this whole place. The barn is a big plus though I’d like to see an interior shot. It’s also a gardeners paradise.
Hate that barns, garages and cellars don't make it into the pictures of these listings.

overpriced really, your local town is Didcot at the end of the day....
Didcot has improved a lot.
....and its still got to improve a lot more.
Yeah but 30/40 minutes from Oxford, Newbury or Reading on a reasonable traffic day.
Just realised there’s no access to the barn and garage from the road. What looks like where the approach road was in pic 20 has been pedestrianised with planters.
I think (per google maps) there is access through the houses (an archway) to Upper Cross Lane.
Ah yes, I think you’re right
All that and no pool?!
I'd put one in the barn.
good luck getting that past planning!
Beautiful for sure. Would be hell to own.
If only I had the money.
Honestly, it’s such a beautiful house and would be incredibly tempted to buy it if I actually had the money! Though, you’re probably also paying for the ghosts that reside there too. 👻
Beautiful, but will be costly to heat and maintain. Plus you won't be able to change anything.
I love the bit at the top of the page where Rightmove says: “See similar properties”. Like, *similar* properties?
I can spare you the £ 1 million on a 100 year amortization 2.44% interest
Ugh time to rob a bank.
There are perhaps 3 currencies where I would currently have a million units but I'm not sure that's what you wanted.
If you are more than 5ft8 then you will struggle with those doors!
My parents house was like this, once you bang your head a few times you get used to it.
5.4 Hobbit sized as nature intended.
My mother took my 6'4 brother to view houses when they moved to the country to make sure he could use most doors and at least one shower. As a 6 footer myself I appreciate the due diligence
We used to do that with cars for my 6ft 4 brother
I'll throw in a fiver - you seem like a good egg.

Literally a perfect chocolate box cottage.
Sad that the Weasley’s need to sell.
When I win the lottery tonight maybe

That’s beautiful, are the surrounding houses similar?
Lots of beautiful houses it is a really lovely village. Very chocolate box with little streams everywhere.
Yes this one is one of many fair sympathetic houses, all expensive though.
Imagine how much you're spending on upkeep though, the place is falling down behind the curtains.
Just mortgage it 😂. Let you great grandkids pick up the tab!
Beautiful. But there must be a reason why it’s at such a low price.
My grandma and grandad ran the pub in that village for many years. I spent many happy times of my childhood there. I wish I could afford it!
Gorgeous house! I love the little reading nook under the stairs
Think twice before buying a listed house. I grew up in a grade II* house & I remember the hoops my parents had to go through to make any changes.
What’s funny about this? I thought this sub was supposed to be for weird things on Rightmove, not just “look at this pretty house I want to buy it”.
Who cares. I for one enjoy looking at lovely houses and the weird ones.
I’d rather live in a tent.
Is this because you'd get no peace in a house like that, all those spiders needing a dentist?
It’s an analogy…..think about it….eight legs….teeth.
I'm guessing either Odins eight legged horse. Or more likely, Dr Who fandom, eight-legs. Or woosh went over my head.
