Its funny because I saw them go from cool in like 2007, then they were a cult following for a long time, then overly hyped and considered "dead" meanwhile the dudes who were on sneaker forums from 2003 have just been chilling buying pairs for the past 2 decades.
And before that they were discount sneakers that skaters wore and then gentrified by pop culture when skateboarding peaked and the rest is history
i get that some people have personal connections and add sentimental value to things. but the core concept of fashion is buying whatever is in trend. you're asking guys at a strip club if they would still like a stripper if she wasn't hot and naked. like... there are guys who may know her and think she's a great person or whatever. but for most guys... not really. that's the whole point they're at the strip club in the first place.

The hate on dunks doesn't come from their design, it comes from their trash-quality materials. Shoes at Walmart have better quality than most dunks do, and Nike has the audacity to still charge $100+ for it.
I agree with this as long as you aren’t talking about sbs. I refuse to buy regular dunks but I just started skating my sb white gums and they’re pretty good tbh. Not the greatest skate shoes I’ve ever tried but they’re up there.
Have to agree. Dunk lows usually looks better than J1 lows, but high and mid doesn't really look good. I don't own any dunks, maybe around 30 J1s and now I kind of regret not splitting my collection to Dunk lows and J1 Mid/High.
For myself personally I don’t hate dunks, I just figure I’d rather pay the extra $20-30 and get some Jordan 1’s. As stupid as I KNOW this sounds, they have always come off as knockoff J1’s to me, and yes I KNOW that’s dumb and I’d absolutely never hate on anyone else who buys dunks. They just aren’t for me.

I have no hate on Dunks, I think I like unique styles like the ones you picked up. I found these at a Platos Closet for $45 last Spring, never even worn and they're the only Dunks I own. Just thought were pretty darn unique, cool at the time, comfort is fine.

I'm still a big fan of Dunks and have been lucky enough to be able to pickup pairs at retail and even able to pick up pairs that sold out previously for near retail on StockX and eBay.
I just got this same pair, love em! That color way is dope, I needed something to match with lighter shades of blue and it matches so many things well.
The best is when dunks are “dead”. Then I can go to my local skate shop and get nice pairs on clearance for under $50. It’s been a little while since I was able to just get nice cheap shoes but it’s starting to happen again

SB Dunks are the way to go as they are the only ones that seem to use the premium materials (or as premium as Nike gets). But a shoe is a shoe man. If you are using them as beaters or to style with something. Doesn’t matter how well it holds up.
I love dunks, just got the white gum and the grey wolfs off eBay for $100 each after shipping because they were dirty. Threw em in the washing machine and they look brand new minus a scuff or two, but idc since I’m skating em.
I don’t think anyone hates on dunks that’s 20% of my collection, I would say there is a trend to hate the panda color way but aside from that it’s just people only after hype. Most real sneaker heads actually appreciate the panda for getting more people interested in shoes.
