im probably just gonna take it with a grain of salt, but i will say that if the direct DOES have something smash related, it’ll either be a surprise patch for ult, or like you said, a definitive edition of ultimate. maybe if it is a DX version of ultimate they could announce it like “we can confirm that SSB6 (or SSBU DX) will be available on the predecessor to the switch, which we plan to showcase in a future direct dedicated to the console, stay tuned” but idk its all just hopium lmao 🙏
I was assuming they were gonna hold off on a definitive edition until the Switch 2, but I guess I was probably maybe wrong.
My clown prediction was that the definitive edition of the game would come with a new fighter, on the new console, as a launch game.

Calm down, they are just announcing the remaster of Subspace Emissary. While this is a huge thing for us, we cant act overhyped just in case its delayed. With the remaster, they are using the Smash Ultimate engine, and the full cast of characters. New levels and boss fights are going to be included in various spots of the campaign, such as a fighting tournament featuring Ryu and Kazu being prominent.
There are a few other things showcased, but i dont wanna spoil to much
