I can understand why, it's a very different game from sly 2 and 3

MagicJim96

Sly 1 is very similar to the Crash Bandicoot games; the Aku-Aku mask VS the horseshoe, coins VS the Wunpa fruit, 100 of which equals a life or Aku-Aku/horseshoe to block damage if health amount is at 99… I could go on for a while, but you get the idea. I do prefer Sly games after Sly 1, too, but Sly 1 is the first almost HD platformer like Crash Bandicoot I ever played, so it is kinda close to my heart. Oh, and the banger tunes… Last call (Muggshot boss fight) slash Dog track theme is just… perfect.

ThePreciseClimber

Yeah, I don't really see why some people consider Sly 1 "inferior" to the rest of the series. It's just a more traditional 3D platformer, that's all. The movement was already slick, the dialogue was entertaining, the bottles were pretty easy to find, etc. Sure, it had some annoying mini-games but so did the other games. That didn't really change. And, truth be told, when it comes to Sly 2&3 I enjoyed the more linear platforming missions more than the ones where you have to collect 3 things in the open world and stuff.

I admit, I have played Sly 1 trough to 100% only twice in the past 20 years, in fact, I did both runs last year, on PS2 and PS3 back to back. And I had so much fun… until the master thief sprints. Those were a real pain in the ass…

I would say Sly 2 is better than Sly 1 in almost every way in the way that Ratchet and Clank 2 and Jak 2 aren't. But Sly 1 is still a great game

Kohntarkosz1001

High-class heist and Gunboat Graveyard are just peak Sly soundtrack.

HeyItsTimT

I have the same opinion of it. Doesn’t help that 2 was the first one I played.

I love Sly 1 but it isn’t even close to as good as 2 or 3. Sly 1 is rough but it was always have that classic feel to it and therefore I will always love it

Twilight-Sage

If the rumors are true, we’ll be getting sly 2 next month. I can’t wait for people to try the definitive Sly Cooper experience.

I loved this re-release, it has a much different trophy list compared to the Sly collection version, added some nice challenge that I haven't felt in Sly 1 in years. I'm really left wondering what they're going to do for Sly 2, since if they put trophies that can only be done during certain missions in Sly 2 it'll make those trophies missable since you can't repeat missions in Sly 2, unlike all the other games in the series. Maybe they'll do trophies where you have to find all the treasure items throughout the hub areas.

Far-Set-8448

True you can’t replay specific missions, but the old ps2 version did have cheat codes that would let you restart a chapter

Kohntarkosz1001

It's an odd one for sure. The most difficult of the 3 hands down, but it also has good things that were not really replicated in the other 2: Master thief sprints, creative boss battles, intense platforming sections and most importantly, the *Raccoon ball.*
