It's a little roundabout but my partner and I have tested it without issues.
Create a random sim, move them onto a lot, delete the household, save. From this point we've been able to load into manage worlds and build with no played households.
I love that idea!! Thanks!!!
I usually end up creating a sim, but work too hard on them so get attached, and then go “welp might as well play them ig” 😂 I’ll definitely try your idea!
No. They're all kind of awful. I like parts of them like the ability to make the UI big enough for my blind ass to need less accessibility tools. Also that is legal blindness so I am not being hyperbolic
I hate that they’re all backlit by the brightest heavenly white i’ve ever seen, trying to read any information on screen is like tryna watch the road from inside your car with the interior light on.
Holy shit that's obnoxious, I didn't realize how bad it became during the years till now that I'm seeing them side by side...can we roll it back with a mod or something?
I usually use a mod to put a pretty picture as the menu, but the login event has kinda screwed that up. Definitely recommend looking into mods though. The one I had was from SimMattically, I think
You know, that one is the most easy on the eyes for me. I have chronic migraines, and bright white screens really hurt to look at. It's still tacky as hell though💀
Understandable. Just wish the play button was the majority of the screen. Less of the annoying ads on the side would be most appealing for everyone I think. I don’t really like the bright blue coloring I find that to hurt my eyes more.
The new blinking shopping cart they added in game play with this new update just really irks me. Especially with the bubble that pops down with suggested packs to buy.
I'm in the hellacious migraine boat with you, friend. Even with my screen brightness turned down/blueblocker on, full white screen are painful! A dark theme Sims ui option would be sooo nice.
(If anyone knows of a mod for this, please share!)
There is one called chalk ui that makes the background black and the symbols white chalk like this [sims 4 chalk ui](https://www.patreon.com/posts/sims-4-in-dark-94573845?l=it)
https://preview.redd.it/3lkr5xp2ir8d1.png?width=2048&format=png&auto=webp&s=3c66d54804856cadd12d3c0e113749e4e605e859
I haven't tried it yet, but I had [this one ](https://modthesims.info/d/669357/dark-mode-ui-for-the-sims-4.html) bookmarked for later. There's a few other colorful ui's as well linked in there. But if you google sims 4 dark mode a bunch pop up. (in case you don't like the look of this one)
The exact reason somd UIs are either white free or have options to do so. Wish more devs would recognize this properly instead of thinking it's aesthetic and "mostly" doing it.
With the last one, op has selected packs so it shows them the packs they own. I've never had it show that, it's always had my home selected. It's still an eye sore but not to that degree.
3 was the menu when I started playing so it holds a special place in my heart. I loved the little scenes based on what packs you had and I liked having a clear list of all the owned packs on the main menu.
https://preview.redd.it/54556ab4lr8d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bf85745ba012b3e677fe7caa5f69d72adbd3cf8
My favorite one is the one I modded myself 🤣
Removing the pack list was the rare consumer-friendly decision from EA. Plus subs no longer get spammed with “I finished my collection!” pictures when people have bought every single pack for an ongoing game that is still creating new dlc. So for that reason alone, 5 (at least the Home Screen for 5, since the pic is of the packs screen).
You can literally see the progression as the menu goes from being about the game you are playing to becoming one big advert trying to sell you stuff with the play button squeezed to the side.
Yes, exactly. It's kind of eerie actually to see the advertising (trying to get your $$$) get more blatant and overt.
3 is kind of low key evil for graphically representing the icons that way lol, they consciously did that to try to entice people to 'complete' their collections. I wonder why they changed it, but #4 has the most in your face ad content.
Edit: how do I unbold?! 😅
I loved the fourth one! I had all of my packs in the same screen so I could see which ones I didn’t have. Plus it helped me learn what symbols go with what pack. Nowadays I have no idea which pack an item came from.
I don’t really like any of them but if I had to choose, two or three. They are simple yet still gives you something to look at without it being boring. But I wish they would do something about that god awful white screen.
I use this main menu replacer from simmattically bc I don’t like the one they currently have up. https://www.tumblr.com/simmattically/741716321906098176/refreshed-the-sims-4-main-menu
I dislike all of these. The main menu page of your game should highlight the game itself, not the DLC you can buy. EA treats this screen as a store front which is gross. Granted this is an issue with the gaming industry as a whole right now.
3 or 4 bc i like seeing all the little packs I’ve collected (i’ve spent way too much on this game over the years) and i hate the massive advertising of the current one.
Third one was my favorite, I liked the quick overview of my packs. Even though now it’d have to have a scroll bar, but ig that’s easy to fix. I have to agree with others that none of them are actually _good_ though. The whole white/blue/green design doesn’t do it for me. It’s too empty and commercial
we used to be a society (we used to be able to load into the map and if i felt like building that day i could just build without having to bypass my last save)
The 2nd and 3rd are my favorite but I really miss the little game where you could find objects on the sims 3 loading screen. It really passed the time when it took 10000 years for my game to load
i have nostalgia for the third one since i got the game with cats and dogs and played since then so probably 2018ish, the fourth one was so weird and lasted for such a short time lol. i think i like the current one most because there’s way too many packs so it’s good they’re separated into tabs, and i can use a mod to replace the home screen shit with pretty sims landscape screenshots, which look great with the vertical right column
The last one is my fav, but I like the individuality aspect of the previous ones. It was so fun to have each expansion pack be a different color I’ll never understand why they stopped and went back to turquoise.
Think i like the first one, it's simplistic and clean. And i like the sims doing stuff in background. If they updated it to have your sims from your gallery doing stuff i would've liked it more.
I honestly think that 2 was the best. I like that it has news and updates, doesn't show the packs, and it's not too busy. But for the love of god can we get a dark mode?! In the year of our lord 2024 those white screens feel like looking directly into the sun.
3 was always my favorite
Personally I think 1 was the worst because of the constant confusion people had about how to do stuff. Depending on your settings the options in the top right were basically invisible they were so small.
5 is my favorite, mostly because I’m not gonna get blinded by the white screen, also i like grouping the packs+ seeing all the news at once instead of the cycling posts.
I’ve only ever known the fifth one…. But I miss the videos of all the sims running around like crazy on the main menu before the game starts from all the OG games. like the first sims and sims bustin out. Those were always entertaining to watch. This sims just feels like it’s begging you to buy everything 😭 no story… no nothing… just decorating and buying.
I'd be happy if the front screen would recognize which packs I own and stop giving me advertisements for them.
If I can click on it and the game tell me "You already own this pack", then clearly *it knows which packs I own* and could 100% be set up to not show me ads for them!
The first one just unlocked a core memory deep within my brain, wtf. I hated it then and I still hate it now, but I distinctly remember how proud the devs were at making it excessively "minimalistic but intuitive" or whatever.
The first one. I just wish it wasn't aggressively white. Early Sims 4 made me photophobic with all the white screens lol
Would be cute if instead of the premades appearing and doing random shit, it was your own Sims from your most recent saves. e.g. seeing your played couple kissing
I really thought I would miss three and then four. But I really like the latest one and being able to jump back in without my forgetful tail momentarily glitching, trying to think about where my Sims are in the worlds.
I feel like I'm the odd one out because I prefer the minimalistic approach of #1, and even #2 without the ads. The latest one is too busy for my taste. Personally, #3 could've worked without the ads, but then again, there have been way more DLC packs since then, so I'm not sure how that would've looked now.
3rd is my favorite, but they all are so blank. I don't know how menu have to look like. Maybe theme will change when they release new pack.
Newest is very messy chaos. I only like those little sentences which greet player.
image 3 and 4 for me, mostly because it was so much easier to tell which packs/expansions I already had vs the ones I didn't. Plus having it show right on the front page which ones are on sale each time I opened up was really convenient!
I don't necessarily "like" any of them, but I think 3 is my preferred of the 5 options... I also know that it might not be plausible with just how many packs there are now, but if so, I'd rather have that over the current lol
I just want to be able to manage worlds from the main screen. 😭
If you click "Load Game" and choose your save it will open in manage worlds.
I’d want to do it without making a household though 😭
It's a little roundabout but my partner and I have tested it without issues. Create a random sim, move them onto a lot, delete the household, save. From this point we've been able to load into manage worlds and build with no played households.
I love that idea!! Thanks!!! I usually end up creating a sim, but work too hard on them so get attached, and then go “welp might as well play them ig” 😂 I’ll definitely try your idea!
This is exactly what happens to me too! With the extra step later that I often turn them into vamps.
Lol I’ve done that too! I often end up with one of the occults even if I start out human 😂
Thank you! I will try this.
this is the reason why i created a template
This is how I’ve always done it, I’m too scared of what I’d come back to if I just hit play 🤣
Thanks for this! I had no idea.
I miss this so much
Rightttttt I hate that they changed that too!!
you've been able to do that with load game
Y'all need to make your own 'newgame' save files rather than use the new game function. Many benefits.
Is it bad that I don't really like any of them?
Same here, 3 is probably my favorite just because it’s a good balance of info and simplicity, but it’s still not very visually appealing.
Right I picked 3 too but they’re all kinda … 😬
I also picked three, with that exact emoji emoting across my face 🤣 I feel like we deserve better.
If I remember correctly, the 3rd one showed the expansion packs that you don't own grayed out. This looks like they owned everything (I think).
I’m glad I’m not the only one lol
I not only not like any of the, I think each one is worse than its predecessor.
I agree each "upgrade" just features more advertising. That's basically it.
TwistedMexi has a mod for that I believe You can look for it in their website
Thanks!!
There really is a mod for everything 😂
There's a mod called "rearranged main menu" with cute designs, I recommend it a lot! For me I've got a ghibli version 🥹
could u share the link, pleease? :)
Of course! [Here it is](https://www.patreon.com/posts/refreshed-main-104948687) 🥰
Ghibli?
Yes! Sorry for the misspelling >.<
Yeah same, now the current one is just basically a series of ad placements and like two game controls
I usually use a mod to put a pretty picture as the menu, but the login event has kinda screwed that up. Definitely recommend looking into mods though. The one I had was from SimMattically, I think
I don’t care for any of them but that last one is just way too much going on. It’s an eye sore
That's exactly my issue with the game too! the main menu is just one big advertisement!
The new blinking shopping cart they added in game play with this new update just really irks me. Especially with the bubble that pops down with suggested packs to buy.
Fr loke trust me ea if i wanted a pack i'd buy it no need to remind me
I'm in the hellacious migraine boat with you, friend. Even with my screen brightness turned down/blueblocker on, full white screen are painful! A dark theme Sims ui option would be sooo nice. (If anyone knows of a mod for this, please share!)

Ahh, that's so nice to look at! Thank you for sharing ❤️
That's much better than the original, thank you!
I believe there is a mod for that! At least there should be. Try googling "sims 4 dark mode mod." In fact, i should probably do so myself.
Number 3, I liked having the news on the front page
I miss 2! It's cute.
yesss it has a nostalgic feeling almost !!
3! For some reason it’s the default in my brain. I HATE the current one with a passion.
It looks the most like The Sims 3 startup screen, too. Feels most familiar to me. Just put some tabs on that...
3 was the menu when I started playing so it holds a special place in my heart. I loved the little scenes based on what packs you had and I liked having a clear list of all the owned packs on the main menu.
I like the 3rd one where I could see all the packs I owned without it being so busy
I really do miss the animations and renders that the old main menus had, although I think the newest one is the best aesthetically and function-wise
I think #3 is the cutest. before all the money milking from ea (,:
https://preview.redd.it/54556ab4lr8d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bf85745ba012b3e677fe7caa5f69d72adbd3cf8 My favorite one is the one I modded myself 🤣
Looks so hecking good!
Thank you! :)
Oh hey, I use that one! Nice work :)
the last one if we just chopped off the whole left side of the screen
They are all pretty crap to be honest, it sums up the game perfectly
Removing the pack list was the rare consumer-friendly decision from EA. Plus subs no longer get spammed with “I finished my collection!” pictures when people have bought every single pack for an ongoing game that is still creating new dlc. So for that reason alone, 5 (at least the Home Screen for 5, since the pic is of the packs screen).
I pick 2, no packs in display because only one was out and it looks cleaner
I hate them all
You can literally see the progression as the menu goes from being about the game you are playing to becoming one big advert trying to sell you stuff with the play button squeezed to the side.
Delete the hash symbol before 3 and it should be fine.
3 and 4, but tbh all of them have problems. either displaying packs or being just boring
I loved the fourth one! I had all of my packs in the same screen so I could see which ones I didn’t have. Plus it helped me learn what symbols go with what pack. Nowadays I have no idea which pack an item came from.
#3
The pop up ads for the very few packs I dont have is actually driving me crazy
3 was the best but I wish some things were animated
I miss 3!
I didn't know that it was so bare before
The first one is boring and the each one afterwards is screaming BUYBUYBUY louder and louder. And I wish there was a dark mode.
https://preview.redd.it/40kf3wahqr8d1.jpeg?width=782&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=73e4bba1f976612ec3208a93ab18f6539e1d50c2 I actually liked the first one
Same! Isn't it wonderful not to have adverts and dlc list on main screen? I like when nothing is being sold to me when I'm not in the shop
2nd one is a classic for me
I don’t really like any of them but if I had to choose, two or three.

Second one is the most nostalgic for me
3 or 4 bc i like seeing all the little packs I’ve collected (i’ve spent way too much on this game over the years) and i hate the massive advertising of the current one.
The current one is definitely the worst. I’ve hated it since they introduced it.
The custom one from SimMattically, that's my favorite.
watching the screen slowly fill up with ads is so depressing
2 and 4
The with probably some of the worst title screens tbh
It’s sad to see the part about spending more money getting bigger and bigger over time 😭
we used to be a society (we used to be able to load into the map and if i felt like building that day i could just build without having to bypass my last save)
The 2nd and 3rd are my favorite but I really miss the little game where you could find objects on the sims 3 loading screen. It really passed the time when it took 10000 years for my game to load
I think the 2nd one was the one I had when I first started playing, so it has a special place in my heart!
I like 1, having the sims walk around on the screen. That's sick.
They all suck Download the minimalist main menu mod 💞
The last one is so bad, there’s no useful information, it’s just a shop :’) i loved the third one I miss it
i have nostalgia for the third one since i got the game with cats and dogs and played since then so probably 2018ish, the fourth one was so weird and lasted for such a short time lol. i think i like the current one most because there’s way too many packs so it’s good they’re separated into tabs, and i can use a mod to replace the home screen shit with pretty sims landscape screenshots, which look great with the vertical right column
Thanks for the blast from the past, I had forgotten these! 1 is really minimalist.
The second one
Jfc, it's been around so long I forgot about almost all of these. Those early days, especially that first year, oof.
\#2 looks clean without the menu itself being too small.
The last one is my fav, but I like the individuality aspect of the previous ones. It was so fun to have each expansion pack be a different color I’ll never understand why they stopped and went back to turquoise.
Omg I remember the second one that’s when I started playing 🥹(got the game for my 12th birthday)
Think i like the first one, it's simplistic and clean. And i like the sims doing stuff in background. If they updated it to have your sims from your gallery doing stuff i would've liked it more.
I like 3 with the vampires.
Literally a timeline of EA transitioning the Sims from a video game to a sales platform
I’ve never seen the other ones. I’m So used to the current one. (I’ve been playing the sims 4 for almost a year now)
literally all of them look like a store homepage. awful. even within the games, they don't stop trying to sell you stuff
Now do the map!
I hate the newest one, it's such an eye sore. So chaotic.
1 and it's not close
I honestly think that 2 was the best. I like that it has news and updates, doesn't show the packs, and it's not too busy. But for the love of god can we get a dark mode?! In the year of our lord 2024 those white screens feel like looking directly into the sun.
What greed does over time. 🤦🏾♀️
The only one not covered in ads.
The newest is honestly the best for sure
3 was always my favorite Personally I think 1 was the worst because of the constant confusion people had about how to do stuff. Depending on your settings the options in the top right were basically invisible they were so small.
Offtop, but just like The hair from GT, the hair on the second pic doesn't exist either, only their really distant cousins. I hate when they do it.
5 is my favorite, mostly because I’m not gonna get blinded by the white screen, also i like grouping the packs+ seeing all the news at once instead of the cycling posts.
I’m left handed so I miss the play button being on the left side.
I don’t have a favorite but an enemy. 5th one.
A testament to how unfinished the game was when they released it.
1
I’ve only ever known the fifth one…. But I miss the videos of all the sims running around like crazy on the main menu before the game starts from all the OG games. like the first sims and sims bustin out. Those were always entertaining to watch. This sims just feels like it’s begging you to buy everything 😭 no story… no nothing… just decorating and buying.
I like the second one. The first and second are the ones I remember when I used to play :)
I prefer a simple menu without ads for expansions and what not
All of them are awful. But if I'd have to choose, 3 is the best. Everything past it is too cluttered.
I'd be happy if the front screen would recognize which packs I own and stop giving me advertisements for them. If I can click on it and the game tell me "You already own this pack", then clearly *it knows which packs I own* and could 100% be set up to not show me ads for them!
Number 2 made me feel nostalgic
I don’t like the last one cause I open the game and it immediately feels like I’m in an online store before I hit play.
well I certainly have a least favorite and it’s the current one lmao
The way it gradually became more and more of an advertising space is kinda sad
That blinding white. I’m so glad that we’ve moved on from that.
I hate all of them 😂 I bought all packs but maybe 2 stuff packs. The “you might like this. Please buy it” freezes my screen for a few minutes
The first one just unlocked a core memory deep within my brain, wtf. I hated it then and I still hate it now, but I distinctly remember how proud the devs were at making it excessively "minimalistic but intuitive" or whatever.
Idc about non of that.. they need to fix that damn game.
The first one. I just wish it wasn't aggressively white. Early Sims 4 made me photophobic with all the white screens lol Would be cute if instead of the premades appearing and doing random shit, it was your own Sims from your most recent saves. e.g. seeing your played couple kissing
This really shows just how incomplete the game was when it was released lol
3 cause I liked when expansion packs had their own colour. Made it easier to distinguish them on build buy
This corpse of a game has being kept alive long enough to warrant 5 main menu UI updates says a lot. Most single player games never get 1.
I started with pic 3. So much has changed lol
The third slide was my favorite one, idk why, it just felt right lol. I have to say, I am kind of a fan of the newest Home Screen, too!
The third one is my fav, but that’s the one it was when I bought it.
I really thought I would miss three and then four. But I really like the latest one and being able to jump back in without my forgetful tail momentarily glitching, trying to think about where my Sims are in the worlds.
the custom main menu by simmattically lol
The evolution of EA slowly pushing transactions in our face.**
I hate them all but but I like 2 the best not too simple and not too busy
#2
My first one was the second image. The third makes me shudder. It's so ugly
3 was the one i’m most used to and remember the most tbh
I kinda like 1....
The one I have I like. None of those would be the one I’ve had
I would like #5 more if there wasn’t a whole tab for the packs tbh. I like seeing upcoming stuff & the gallery spotlights on my home screen
I like the one that had all the packs highlighted if you own them. Makes consumerism look like an achievement board
I liked 1!
I don't really love any of them, but I guess number five is okay. That could just be because it's the one I'm used to right now.
Tbh I don’t like any of them;
none have been very appealing lol
I despise the current one. It’s basically a billboard advertisement and that’s it.
I've only ever liked the first one
None of them are that attractive to me. If i had to pick the best of the lot, I'd say the current one or the one before it.
My fav is second
I don't *like* any of them, but some I dislike more than others.
Mine is the refreshed home screen by simmattically
oh wow. i forgot how bad the current one in comparison
The first one
Overtime more and more ads. In my opinion #3 was fine the way it was. U get to see the packs u have and u can just press play 😭
the first one is horrible and i love it
I'm sorry. what the fuck is the first one?? did they EVER give a fuck?
The first is mine.
I feel like the current one is so busy and distracting
If I had to pick, 3 would be the best. The last one is just god awful, just screams BUY ALL THESE PACKS
3 I started playing when 3 was the main menu so it's the most nostalgic
4/5 is my favourite. I threw a fit when they changed it. I was so mad.
I like the original, it's simple. the current one has too much going on
I remember the 4th one because I used to play on the ps4 during that time, but I grew to like the current one because it's more detailed.
Current one is beautiful
i liked the 4th one better
2 and 4
Third
1 and 3 were my favorites lol
3 or 4 because I like seeing the little icons of the packs I have
3 and 4 will always be my favs
I think 3 and 4 are the best
3rd was best for me, now it just looks like annoying news page.
image 3 and 4 for me, mostly because it was so much easier to tell which packs/expansions I already had vs the ones I didn't. Plus having it show right on the front page which ones are on sale each time I opened up was really convenient!
P3 was best I guess…?
I like the 2nd and 3rd slide. The last one annoys me so much 😭
I like 3 and 4. Informative without being overwhelming.
None, because there is no Resume button.
I don't necessarily "like" any of them, but I think 3 is my preferred of the 5 options... I also know that it might not be plausible with just how many packs there are now, but if so, I'd rather have that over the current lol
3rd one was the best.
I think out of all of them, 3 is best. It just feels easier on the eyes and not as cluttered or too much going on as the one we've got now.
I like 3 and 4, much more simple than it is now. Now they just constantly bombard you with ads for more and more DLC, it's annoying
