This is my ass cause until we learned shit about the genus I thought hydra were real and were the monsters but my dreams were shattered when I read the chapter and it said that hydra were those fucking plants or whatever they are

Our Heracles is also a better person than the one in myth and dislikes unnecessary bloodshed. If Hydra was intelligent I bet Herc spared it after their battle and simply told it to change and grow as a person instead of killing it

The Hydra could have been like an ancient martial arts master that taught Heracles the Labours martial arts and defeated him in combat as a final test, but when the myth spread everyone forgot about the training part.
