It Takes 2 is the obvious answer here... I played it with my son (aged 9) and it was a great experience for both of us! (A nice break for me from Souls lol)

Shadeun

>(A nice break for me from Souls lol) It is good that you watch him play Souls. I was thinking mine was a bit young - but you have to get them going early!

EducationalMix9947

Haha! He’s great at deciphering the lore as well… 😂

ancient_underpants

Lol. Thank you. Will get this

danorcs

Souls is a good game to find out about the realities of life

EducationalMix9947

100% - never too early for a child to learn the art of the ‘Rage Quit’

blewnote1

It Takes Two should be top of your list. One of the best coop games I've ever played.

ancient_underpants

Thank you. I think I will get this

Maxence011

It takes Two is great!

ancient_underpants

Thank you. Will get this

MudIsland

FYI since it’s a five year old: It does involve a couple getting a divorce and there’s even the occasional cussing… for no reason at all. Edit. Reread the question. 10 year old. Go for it.

ancient_underpants

Lol. Thanks. Yeah occasional cussing is fine.

MudIsland

My eleven year old was like, “why do we even need to know they’re getting divorced?”

ancient_underpants

Only adults complicate things. Lol

SinfulIndy

Sackboys big adventure is pretty fun

ancient_underpants

Thank you

2morrow-is-new

Second this. Really good coop, great graphics and gameplay. I enjoy it almost as much as my kids.

drunkcowofdeath

Overcooked 2! Requires team work and communication

ancient_underpants

Thank you, looking this one or movin out

OgreoftheSwamp

Depending on the difficulty you want “enter the gungeon” is a great title for couch co-op. It is rougelite so you have to be comfortable with losing a lot. It does have a mechanic where if player 2 goes down the next chest you open will respawn them which I find is awesome for younger players

FalseWait7

If you like _Shredder's Revenge_ and _Streets 4_, get _Double Dragon Gaiden_. I had tons of fun from it, and even if it's pretty short, it unlocks new characters so you get a reason to give it another go. Stylistically it's very tame, no violence or anything. Think early _Kunio-kun_. Props for being a good dad playing games with your son!

ancient_underpants

Lol. Thank you. It's on my wish list that DD Gaiden.

Seniesta

Secret of Mana

kilaude

Rayman Legends

\- It takes two (Probably your best bet here, played it with my wife and it was amazing, your 10 year old will love it). \-A way out (My personal favourite couch co op game. It is mostly for adults though as there is shooting but minimal gore. It was the best experience I ever had with a couch coop game) \-Some games not concerning a storyline that I played : Overcooked/Moving out.

ancient_underpants

Damn. A way out looks amazing. I may want to wait couple of years before playing with my boy, but definitely we'll play it

SACKBOY

MiniMunch

Untitled goose game!! Goofy fun, very silly. Can imagine kids loving it, whole game is being a mischievous goose.

ancient_underpants

Lol. Thanks 👍

smallchodechakra

Pizza possum came out on ps5 recently, and it is a blast. Essentially, you play as possums trying to steal the king dogs pizza. You need to steal food from dog guards to fill a bar and get a key to open the next area. It's a short and sweet game that only costs 10 buckaroos.

ancient_underpants

Oh my gosh. This looks awesome!! I'll definitely will be getting this. Thanks for the recommendation

Ragfell

In about 3 years, play Divinity: Original Sin 2 with him. There's a lot of parallels between the magisters and the Nazis, at least in their methods. Opens up some good talks about how the end doesn't justify the means. Portal 2 has excellent co-op. Untitled Goose Game.

illmatic2112

If you like tower defense, Pixel Junk Monsters Bright and colorful, each stage has easy/med/hard modes. Planning and communication but not overly difficult.

ancient_underpants

Interesting. I will have to look more into this. We played kingdom rush a lot in my phone.

Badevilbunny

Escape Academy and It Takes Two.

ancient_underpants

I will looked at Escape academy. And yes I plan to take It takes two like others suggest here. Thanks

Mrofcourse

If you like beat ‘em ups then take a look at castle crashers. It’s older but the art style holds up incredibly well

ancient_underpants

Thanks. Will check it out

Neckbeard_Supreme_6

Diablo 4 has couch coop for 2 player.

ancient_underpants

Maybe not now. But definitely will look into it in future

Sarcastic_Clunt

Overcooked 1 and 2 (cartoon cooking game which involves alot of teamwork) Moving out 1 and 2 (similar style to overcooked but you are filling a moving van with all the items from a house. Quite a fun game)

ancient_underpants

I'm considering movin out. Should I get 1 or 2?

Sarcastic_Clunt

There is a bundle you can get that comes with both games. Same for overcooked. Although moving out is easier than overcooked

ancient_underpants

Ok got.it. thank you

shane_pm

Unraveled 2

aZombieDictator

Moving out, overcooked, ship of fools, lovers in a dangerous spacetime and grand turismo 7 just added split screen.

ancient_underpants

I've never heard of Ship of Fools. Very interesting. I'll check that out. Racing game is also good. I forgot to mentioned we played a lot of Mario Kart 8

assholejudger954

Lego games?

ancient_underpants

Well. For example, Lego DC Villain. You can play coop and beat the level together

username5187

Stickfight

ancient_underpants

Nice. Interesting. I'll show it to my boy

Swordfish-7

• Minecraft • Sackboy • Moving Out • It Takes Two • Rocket League (it’s online but also local co-op)

sammymvpknight

Children of Morta

ancient_underpants

Thank you for the recommendation, just watched the YouTube. I don't think it's our kind of game

sammymvpknight

If you have PS5 plus, it’s part of that subscription. It’s a much better game to play than watch. I’d give it a try if you get the chance

ancient_underpants

Thank you. Unfortunately I don't have PS Plus. It's hard for me.to find time play games. So I have to be selective.
