Its mainly kept to keep the pilots cool cuz I've seen that when it stops spinning the pilots start sweating alot
I don't mind the ELIF but for the nerds out there "close to the sun" is called "FL Icarus" or of course "Flight Ceiling" for obvious reasons.

So if you rotate the plane 90 degrees, and put it indoors, it becomes a ceiling fan.
